Warborn on Xbox One is stylish, easy to get to grips with and provides plenty of gameplay hours. However, this is a game aimed for all ages, and for that reason it may lack depth and challenge for the strategy nuts out there.

Warborn is a basic tactical-strategy game with an interesting story, but it doesn’t do enough to make it stand out from the others. The hexagonal battlefield could have been made more interesting, but it doesn’t do it for me. I think it’s the simple enemy AI and lack of variety in the missions that suck the life out of the experience. But it is a clean and functional tactics game, and it would benefit those new to the genre gain some experience.

Spanning over 40 levels, and putting you in the shoes of four different commanders. The storyline comes from four different perspectives and is steeped with politics. The Characters are portrayed with stills depicting the current mood of the character and they give of a 90's anime vibe. The gameolay animations are smooth, with good cell shading lending the battlefield and the units the same cartooney feeling. Once you've tackled the campaign, there are a few more ways to play. Invite a friend into combat and chose from one of the four commanders to go head to head. If the game doesn't have enough maps for you, then create your own with the Map Maker. Use it to set up your own combat scenarios to challenge yourself. The game only features a hand full of unit types, but the units provided have a sort of rock, paper, scissor kind of ballance. Then there's your commander unit. This Mech can handle a lot before it goes down, and requires you fill your SP gauge to summon it. Most Missions in the campaign or that you make will be battles of attrition, and can get a bit tug-of-rope from time to time. An excellent Startegy game with a straight forward system. If you enjoy a good Mech brawl and startegy combat Warborn is a good game to check out. Full Review »
