Does Wailing Heights do enough to get a recommendation from? All in all Wailing Heights is a game that is indie through and through and whilst it suffers with a few imperfections these imperfections don’t dampen the enjoyment levels very much, which is great. At its core this game is a point-and-click adventure but there are a few interesting mechanics thrown in for good measure as well which means the game does have a little bit of uniqueness. The story which accompanies the gameplay has been done really well and I loved being able to experience funny and serious moments the whole way through. I also loved the puzzles in the game as well and whilst some of them may have been a little bit difficult it still didn’t stop me from appreciating the creativity included in them. At the end of the day Wailing Heights isn’t perfect and there are better games out there for you to get to grips with but this game is charming and delivers fun and enjoyment which in turn means it does enough to get a recommendation from me. Wailing Heights is without a doubt one of the better point and click adventures you’ll find on Xbox One.

Whilst I enjoyed the game’s story, soundtrack and unique possession based puzzle system, Wailing Heights does suffer from too many quality issues to be a straight-up recommendation. The game in itself is short but seems to be dragged out by overly repeating conversations and environments. That said, if you can overlook the negatives, Wailing Heights is still a fun and memorable adventure game that should appeal to old school point and click fans and more so with the spooky season just around the corner.

Wailing Heights is a challenging adventure game packed full of intriguing puzzles. Despite having a few drawbacks in terms of gameplay, this musical adventure game manages to provide players with a stable, unique experience and thereby delivers upon its promise of a world of oddities.
