Outdated mechanics, sluggish controls and an extremely toxic player base. Developer/publisher is way too money hungry with season passes, overpriced cosmetics and now a battle pass too. Just an all round awful experience and a disgrace to the Rainbow Six franchise.

Good game, if you can get it to work. If you're going to create a game that is only multiplayer, and let's be clear this game is only multiplayer, then it better actually work online. Players of the Russian region is particularly acquainted - we have never had less than 50 ping. But with 100 ping, the game makes you hate on a regular basis.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical shooter, in which there are destructible, which also need to be use tactically. It's a good game lures - their capabilities. Here you can not just stupid to get in to the enemy through the door and break through the wall, ceiling, blow the door, and the opponent will be confused "where am I to watch?!". Outside you can climb down the wall on ropes, punching the window, hanging and upside down (which at first familiar, but you can get used to) - it is also necessary to use, as the enemy often does not expect. There are different ways to break through walls and other fortifications to strengthen the walls, set various traps. And operatives must have individual abilities and their weapons. All this makes the game insanely replayable, and just a Paradise for lovers to play it on tactics. We also have a drone (team attack), which can be used to mark opponents, and just to check if everything is "clean". In this game, don't just go ahead. Usually you can go to the desired object from about three sides, and even more. And if you know that if you go just like a sheep forward, you die, then you just need to go to the other side and to catch opponents off guard. And it seems so logical, but no, a stupid to go ahead without checking your drone is there ahead of the enemy. This game is about careful gameplay.

You've planned everything, you're done, you know exactly what is going to kill the opponents, but here comes Ubisoft with their network code that wrote Indian the heel of the left foot. The problems can be different from the second podlaha before his sudden departure from the session. Ubisoft are really trying to fix things, and now it's playing without problems, but you still can kill enemy when you noticed him only a second while on his cell tupil you almost half a minute. Hate it. Due to these technical situations, and many others and I want the hell to remove this horrible game. But the gameplay makes you run, "the Siege" again and again. And when everything turns out as you planned, really enjoy it.

The game has no story, stand-alone company, there is only multiplayer. To familiarize yourself with the mechanics is "Operation". And it would be better for the beginner to get them to watch the introductory videos, and then only to go into the game. "Siege" requires direct hands, the weapon happens with a character, you also need to know the map, and then you just have no escape routes or don't know how to get around the enemy. Of course, one must know and operatives for whom you play. All of its pluses and minuses. Operatives in the game is not enough, and there will be more. In the "Antiterror" you can train against bots. On the complexity of "Realism" bots are very good, it is generally one of the most intelligent bots to rebuild. take you to the hearing, bypass. This mode is useful for beginners, as there you will get acquainted with the operative and weapons. The gun shoots great, the sound is excellent. But some of the guns look much viagraxna (especially with ACOG). With automatic Ash or famas from Twich much better put headshots. But sometimes ubisoft and shotguns kill for a couple of meters (as it was when I added just Frost). Headshots are literally with one shot (as it should be), but in Siege it may not be skill, but simply luck. The enemy can shoot at you from a vending machine Bandit and one of the twenty bullets will hit you and you die. Hate it. Hitboxes in this game at all bothered. Different investigators different armored is a bit of a controversial decision.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege despite all the technical flaws and the occasional controversial decisions by the dev team, this is a great tactical multiplayer shooter with insane replayability, and gameplay that gives you many opportunities. The game clearly goes for the emotions. It's just the orgasm at the tips of ecstasy!

Yes I too was a bit disappointed the 3rd person cover system is gone but after playing it for a while you know what? I don't notice it at all anymore. Gone as well is the split screen co-op terrorist hunt mode which I think was a mostake as well, that being said let's move on to the good stuff.
This game is a totally new and fresh take on FPS that forces you to pace yourself, communicate and seriously work together as part of a squd if you want to win. If you want to run and gun and be a lone wolf then save yor money, it doesn't work in this game. You like a band of the hand 5 fingers working together to accomplish a task and they did a great job.
The other thing they did a great job with is the destructible environments!! You are not safe nearly anywhere in the game. floors, walls, ceilings, boxes, banisters nearly anything can be shot through and almost completely destroyed its amazing! It's kinda crazy when the ceiling above you explodes in a cloud of smoke and debris and a dude drops through and starts lighting you up!
There is also an excellent character variety with diverse skill sets and weapon types to suite your play style or goal on a particular level. Some are far more offensive, others are defense heavy and some are a decent mix of both. There is also a decent weapon selection and good mods and load outs for each gun which made me happy.
This game is also unforgiving, it has a much greater sense of realism than game like COD or battlefield and on the harder difficulties it is nearly impossible to survive without excellent teamwork and communication so be warned! I think people need to be open minded and spend some time with the game rather than simply complain that it isn't just like the old rainbow games, I mean isn't that the point?? As gamers don't we want something frsh and new? I know I do and I am very happy overall with what they have done!

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Siege is a first person tactical shooter game, created by Ubisoft, designed for a very specific type of player. It is full of intense moments and hard decisions to be made by the player in very little time. The player needs to be well concentrated and have a good reaction time as to win close up battles. The player must also have a lot of patience because the game is very much hit and miss with the pace of a match. Online games are 5 vs 5 matches in one of three game modes: Bomb, Hostage, or Secure Area. The teams are attackers’ vs defenders.
    Pros
Rainbow 6 consists of 4 different game modes, this gives some variety for the player to avoid them becoming bored. Two of the game modes are strictly multiplayer, they are “Casual” and “Ranked” matches. Casual matches are just for fun and to have a good time and they are also useful for practicing the game and getting use to the controls. Ranked is a lot more intense which gives you a personal rank at the end of 10 matches, this rank is also affected after receiving your initial rank. Ranked matches are much more intense than Casual because people like to keep their personal rank as high as possible. At the end of each season, personal ranks are reset to nothing so everybody gets another chance to get a better score.
Another game mode is called Terrorist Hunt, which can be played in single player, multiplayer, or just with your Squad (friends in custom team). Terrorist Hunt is a mode that is only played against AI and it has three difficulties: Normal, Hard, and Realistic. You can either attack or defend, and these settings can be changed so you get a specific map and game mode.
The final game mode is called “Situations”, these are single player missions which are advised to be done when you start the game because it is a good way to earn some of the in-game currency, Renown. The situations are a good way to learn the game and get use to the controls before facing off with real people online. Situations a have a 3 star system on how you perform, each star unlocked for the first time rewards you with 200 Renown. You are able to go back and redo these missions if you miss any. After completing all 10 situations, you unlock an 11th mission that is multiplayer called “Article 5”.
Rainbow 6 has a rage of 20 original Operators which are the characters you play as in game. If no operator is selected then you are put in as a recruit who has no attachments or gadget. This is so you are still able to play but also a punishment for not picking an operator. Among the 20 original operators, there are 13 additional operators that have been added to the game through DLC’s given at the end of each season. The DLC’s are all free but the new operators are always more expensive than the original unless you own the season pass, in which case they are free. The original operators all begin at 500 Renown, but as someone from the same group is bought, the others values increase. They increase to 1,000, then 1,500, and finally 2,000. All DLC operators cost 25,000 Renown. The game offers a small biography section for all of the characters revealing something about themselves.
All Operators have their own unique and special gadget that puts them apart from all of the other operators. This show that Ubisoft have given the players a large variety to choose from and a lot of resources to be more tactical.
The game is also extremely realistic as one shot to the head kills you. You are able to harm and kill your teammates as well as the enemy. This brings a whole new tactical element to the game.

    Cons
The game contains a lot of content and this opens it up to quite a few bugs, and these do happen.
Quite often in multiplayer while spectating another player, the will be holding their gadget out or the will not be holding anything from your perspective although to them everything is fine. Quite often, players lag and this causes them to bounce back to the point they started at.
The game comes with a variety of maps but some leave you out in the open if you are an attacker when you first spawn in, this allows the defenders to break down doors and windows to kill you at the beginning of the round.
Quite often when new operators are added, they are deemed “too good” and they then get what is called a nerf to make the game fair on either team. This is often done too much and the operator becomes too bad to be played by most people.
    Conclusion
In conclusion the game is very good and definitely worth playing because this game is a first person shooter like no other. It is available on three different platforms, Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Although it has some bugs, Ubisoft are constantly working to patch them in every update. This game is definitely worth it for what it costs which is around £20.

My biggest issue (which might be fixed) is the servers, during the Beta and even the full game, the servers are as stable as a house of toothpicks, I've noticed that Ubisoft could never handle multiplayer games without them killing themselves; nevertheless, I am 'almost' certain that this issue will be rectified.
My other primary complaint is how there's less customization and freedom, I'm noticing a very bullsh*t theme with all the new releases, why is it that all the older games in the franchise had more player freedom? they did this in Battlefront 3, Fallout 4, and Black Ops 3. what the hell is going on?
20 operatives with sparse customization? no thanks.

I also have some small complaints. on the backs of the Spetsnaz members, in Russian it reads FSB.
FSB is an entirely different thing, that's like being a Navy seal, but having SWAT on your back.
also it just bothers me to see 5 assorted CTUs shooting at other CTUs, why? you couldn't make terrorist skins?
I do like how each charachter has a unique name that means something in their colloquial language.
Kapkan means trap, and he sets down tripwires. and Tachanka roughly means cart with gun, or gun cart. the word came from the Russian civil war, when calvary men would put a maxim heavy machine gun on a cart and attach it to a horse. and Glaz, which means eye (because he's a sniper, get it? kek). then you have Montagne, which means Mountain. I don't speak German so I couldn't tell you about them, but I am almost certain they mean something too, it's just the little things that make it so much better.
I think I've been ripping on the game too much, but rest assured, I absolutley love this game, it's brilliant, and as a reviewer below me pointed out, it IS a nice change to see a game that isn't mindless bullet parties like COD or BF, I just hope that COD players stay the hell away from this game. I have lots of fun playing this game and every kill feels earned, not cheap. and every time you wipe a squad, you feel like a bonafide badass. the game has that whole Battlefield moment sudden rush, if you don't know what that is, it's just when you get one of those moments that make the game a whole lot more exciting, almost cinematic at times.

I am actually done with reviewing the game itself, but I have one last grievance.
So I've heard people compare this to CS:GO, and that's wrong, but not in the way you think, this game is actually more intense and demanding then CS:GO, this game requires actual roles and objective managment, so it requires a competent intelligent team, one f*ck up, and you're dead, this game requires full attention and skill. but that's just the thing, on Xbone, it's cancer central, everyone who I end up in a lobby with is a moron or doesn't speak english, get it on PC.
also I get 30fps on terrorist assault, okay I'm done.

To start things off, major props to Rainbow Six at Ubisoft because they took a huge risk at creating a game with no respawn in a generation that drools over Call of Duty and Battlefield action shooters, and they did a pretty good job with it.

The gameplay is slower with more close quarter shoot outs than your average shooter. The maps are set to urban houses, airplanes, office buildings, and shooting range training buildings. There is sprint, but your character's speed is based on the type of equipment you're carrying.

Terrorist Hunt is more diverse now, with hostage rescue, hostage protection, bomb defuse, and classic terrorist hunt. You can create a squad, and join terrorist hunt. The game will ask you the type of difficulty that you would like to play on, but the game modes are set to random along with the maps. You have a team of 5 players and if one gets downed, you can revive them once.

Multiplayer is the same concept, with casual and ranked game play. Its 5 v 5 with no respawn, utilizing attacking and defending characters, each with their own skill set and equipment.

The reason I did not give this a perfect score is because of some very minor things.
First off, the characters only have 2 to 3 guns total to choose from and two choices of equipment; sometimes breaching charges or flash grenades, shields or barbed wire.

Second off, going off of Rainbow Six Vegas which had AMAZING customization, this has none. R6Vegas you could pick your armor, your armor color, helmet, vest, kneepads, elbow pads. And that was for Xbox 360 and Ps3. This is a next-gen game with zero customization.

Third, the character Thatcher is pictured with a shotgun, and a shotgun is not a even weapon choice that he can even have. [I said these were minor imperfections, remember.]

Fourth, the online and servers right now are throwing out error codes left and right. When you first sign on, it says error code / servers unreachable. If you hit a button to continue, you're online anyways. I only know this because it did the same thing in beta so I figured it would be the same way in the game, and it was.

Last but not least, there's no campaign. Rainbow Six has always been huge with story modes and the tactical movement of controlling Team Rainbow. Although this is a great game, I'm not too fond of the ideas that games are now thinking its okay to only release half of a game, regardless of how much you focus on multiplayer.

Overall, I've been playing this game for 6 hours straight since the game released and I'm itching to continue playing tomorrow. I would recommend it. Its one of the few, if not the only, tactical shooter that's out that actually requires team work to get the job done. I know Rainbow Six Siege will only get better from here on out. They've been listening to the community since the closed Alpha and Beta and I believe they know what the players want.

With that being said Siege is an ok game but it feels like an ambitious yet hollow game. Destructible environments are great but Siege is a been there, done that experience with pretty destruction. The graphics are muddled and flat. There is no real customization for your operators other than the choice of 2 or 3 primary weapons with a limited variety of scopes, etc. This game lacks clan support, deep customization or anything to really want you to invest in the character. Yes they created bios and a back story for each operator but it feels like a waste.

In terrorist hunt you have no control over what game types you play, meaning if you like the standard terrorist hunt you are out of luck because everything runs off their servers and is random so you'll have to sit through bomb difusal multiple times to get to a better mode. I will give them kudos for great terrorist AI and well created and thought through level designs but honestly that's about all I can give them a thumbs up for.

On top of that there are limited maps, operators, no single player experience which is where R6 really shines.

Then the kicker is that they want you to buy a $30 season pass that includes nothing more than weapon skins and xp boosters and access new new operators one week early... wow......all for $30!! They have already stated that maps will be free and new operators can be unlocked with in game currency so unless you really have to have that pink panda skin for your gun and are in a hurry to get it don't bother with the season pass.

Unless they reboot R6 and bring back a great, engaging campaign that can be played co-op this is my last R6.

Great game that involves team coordination and smart choices. If you are tired of fast paced FPS then get this game. I love it, i give it a 9 because of servers malfunctioning but the devs are working on fixing that and have a great year line up planned. there is a single player but it is very small. I already have 30 hours- the games awesome when you have a group. Strongly recommend

But... it's Ubisoft. There's a lot of bugs in the game, some are just funny (someones legs sticking through the wall, so you can kill him by shooting them), some are kind of annoying (playing character with a shield, while shield textures are not working so you can't see anything, because shield is a black shadowy thing), and some are game-breaking: matchmaking is terrible, there are terrible servers issues (you can play, but your friend can't even connect to the servers, for, like 1 hour straight), your squad is randomly disconnected, people get random disconnections (I don't remember when there was list time that I played 5 vs 5, it's 5 vs 4 or 5 vs 3 almost all the time, which in game like this makes a big difference), the rank system is useless too. So, making a long story short: Buy it only if you are patience person. If not, wait few months, hoping that Ubisoft will fix those issues... which I doubt. Expand

There is nothing better than playing this game with three of your friends who have the patience and intelligence to play this game the correct way. With good strategy and team work this game performs masterfully unlike any other FPS. Playing both as attackers and defenders takes team strategy in both preparation of the round and execution of the round, with the occasional individual heroics. The game rewards sticking together and using your special abilities of your character. The game provides for many unique routes of attacking or defending each round which supplies unique game play for a rather repetitive game. Choosing characters in the beginning of each round is crucial because each character has individual guns and abilities that can alter which methods of attacking or defending that you should chose.

Beware though, playing this game yourself with randoms can be a nightmare. With no communication and no strategy you are almost doomed to lose every round. Many players become frustrated and lose their patience. This when they start to play, as I call it, "Call of Duty style" where they just run towards the enemy head on, almost always resulting in death. I have never found playing this game by myself fun, especially on defense with people ripping your barricades or blocking your point of vision.

The intensity of this game is refreshing but it is ultimately limited by whether your friends are playing or not. I can't let this aspect of the game hurt the review score too badly because that is the downside of a tactical game. And everyone who plays Rainbow Six Siege is signing up for a tactical experience.

Putting the R6 purism aside, Siege is still a good game in it's own merit. It tries to be the sweet spot of the entire series. Combining the modern style of shooters (COD, BF3 etc) with the slow and tactical pace, the series was known for.

This is a multiplayer only game, and frankly i don't mind it. You engage in 5 v 5 missions. Objectives are varied and preserved from the older games: Hostage Rescue, Bomb Defuse.

You play as a 5 man-team. If you are assaulting you rescue the hostages or defuse bombs . The other 5 defends the objectives while setting up traps or barricades. I like defending objectives as this is something new.

There's allot of emphasis on breaching in Siege. You can repel in any formation around buildings and breach through windows and walls to surprise your foes. Not everything however is destructible. In fact, most of the interior and exteriors are static.

If you're into the series for a while, Terrorist Hunt is still as addicting as ever. You do the same objectives as the main online mode, but you fight enemy AIs alongside your team.

Like most modern shooters there's it's own class character system called "Operators". You select a variety of characters with special abilities and weapons. Ubisoft are kind enough for us to provide these features without micro-transactions and DLCs.. if we're willing to play the game long enough.

This kind of shooter requires allot of communication. So it's good to play with your friends. If you don't have a choice the game is still playable but expect allot of f***-ups along the way. If you're feeling trigger-itchy Terrorist Hunt on normal difficulty can be a nice escape, as the bots are sometimes easy to kill.

Graphics wise, this game isn't that beautiful. Destructible environments and details are nice, but nothing "Next-Gen-impressive". Terrorist Hunt runs in 30 frames per second on Xbox one, while the regular online runs in 60.

This game however feels like an unfinished product (which unfortunately is becoming the norm these days). It has server problems and glitches. Though I'm sure Ubisoft will address these, paying a full price for a game that doesn't work well is unacceptable.

    + Fun Online
    + Maintains Tactical feeling
+ Great to play with friends
+ Defending objectives are new and refreshing.

    - Not a finished product
    - meh graphics
    - Still not rainbow six enough

I bought 4 new operators last night and each time you buy a new op you watch a short intro video. Each time it got to that stage my game crashed and I had to reboot. It takes an awful long time to log into the servers as it is without having to do it 4 times before launching a new game. It's a little confusing setting custom games with a full 10 people as we had lots of difficulty trying to join up when the host can only invite 5 people to his fireteam, took us 10 minutes just to find a work-around to this problem to get 2 full teams in. On the plus side it's a very refreshing game that's very objective driven and not just COD TDM which has been stale for years. A campaign would be nice however their are training missions available with short cut scenes but nothing even close to a proper campaign. With Titanfall, Siege, Battlefront etc all doing this we're paying more for much less which I do not approve of however the quality of the multiplayer justifies the score. Expand

I only purchased Rainbow Six Siege because of a holiday sale. I wasn’t impressed by the beta, and I’m not impressed a year later. R6S is devoid of content. The multiplayer and co-op modes are redundant and constrained. R6S has plenty of shortcomings, and certain problems really standout. R6S is so underwhelming, I struggle to write a review about it.

The graphics suck. R6S doesn’t look or perform well on consoles. It’s passable as a 360 game, but there’s nothing nextgen here. Textures are muddled and distant enemies are nearly impossible to spot. Screen tearing abounds. Frames are capped at 30fps on co-op although there isn’t much going on. Battlefield 1 maintains a solid 45fps on chaotic 64 player servers, and it always looks crisp and bright. R6S just reeks of bad optimization. Considering all the nooks and crannies where enemies can hide, high visual fidelity is a premium feature. Otherwise, players will just walk right by enemies (which happens) or shoot at inanimate objects (which also happens). Multiplayer runs at 60fps, but that doesn’t offset the terrible graphics. Ubisoft’s The Division looks superior in nearly every regard, so I don’t understand why its “competitive” multiplayer is worse off.

The “unique” operators are gimmicky and don’t spice things up. Their special abilities aren’t nearly as important as their primary weapons and lethals. Matches inevitably devolve into camp fests where a few players creep around hoping to surprise corner campers. The intel gathering minigame at the start of matches is laughably underdeveloped and boring. Character customization is superficial. Looking back at some of Ubisoft’s previous titles, I’m surprised by R6S shallowness.

Mechanics are awful too. Movement is rigid—like wading thru a swamp. Gun recoil is practically unmanageable with controllers. Environmental interactions don’t always succeed. Shields and other deployable assets will fail because of hidden obstacles.

The dearth of game modes is inexcusable for a full-priced title. I don’t blame Ubisoft for excluding traditional TDM. However, R6S lacks a campaign, so offering only 3 modes is exorbitantly expensive for the asking price. And that’s the big reason R6S was DOA at release. Its recent surge in popularity is due to price cuts and COD fatigue. Although new maps are free, they don’t make up for the monotonous gameplay.

There aren't dedicated servers for co-op mode, which is inexcusable. Players can’t be revived, so if a player dies early in a match, that player will more than likely drop out. If they’re hosting, the game ends. No host migration. Nothing. This happens a lot. Considering the impatience of Xbox tween gamers, I’m surprised Ubisoft didn’t foresee this. But since the problem isn't fixed, I doubt Ubisoft cares. Besides, peer-to-peer hosting is cheaper for Ubisoft. The experience is trashed so Ubisoft can keep more dollars in its pocket. This undesirable behavior affects multiplayer as well.

Multiplayer games consist of round based matches. Players drop out so frequently between rounds lobbies often consist of all new players once the game ends. Normally, 2 or more players quit each round. So there isn’t much predictability in how matches play out. Fortunately, multiplayer modes are hosted on dedicated servers, so no host migrations. The downside is the inconsistency between rounds. If weak players drop out and better players join in, a match can swing wildly in their favor. And the opposite is also true. Multi-round win streaks can be stopped simply by the fact some players are sore losers and drop out.

This leads to my next point, weak penalties for @$$holes. Rage quitters are annoying enough. However, team killing is a huge problem. It’s rampant, especially in terrorist hunt. I’m purposely killed at least once a night. One player was mad I picked his class. So he killed my character before the first round started.

Another player killed my character for “stealing” his kills. That player was overwhelmed by 7 terrorists and needed the assist. He died immediately after he shot me. There’s next to nothing I can do except drop out. Why hang out with those jerks? Fellow gamers mention the same problem. The poor sportsmanship I’ve experienced in R6S rivals the immaturity of COD gamers. I’ve been team killed more in one week playing R6S than I have in the 4 years of playing Insurgency and Counterstrike GO. Ranked multiplayer imposes some fairly weak penalties, so most trolls migrate to casual multiplayer and co-op to ruin the game for everyone else. Players can be voted kicked, but the feature is abused.

Siege is unpolished and overpriced. Ubisoft developed a half-assed tactical shooter and it somehow stuck around. R6S lacks the innovation and novelty of Ubisoft’s previous titles. There are better games out there, but wannabe progamers/twitchers promote R6S because it’s easy for them to play.

Also looses a point for not having a single player story, despite the levels clearly having been intended to have a story mode. It seems like it was removed at the last minute!

Overall though its very good as a team based shooter, it could however have been so much more! Lets hope the patches fix those niggles and make this the tactical king it could have been,

Infinite possibilities every game, true multiplayer challenge. Are you man enough? Chat works great so you basically have episodic Dungeons & Dragons battles with the result up to you and fate. We all know Ubisoft is FAR from a "good" gaming company. They compare only to EA in their attempts to nickle and dime gamers. To an extent I tolerate it- if the game surrounding the DLC/microtransaction money machine is great. This is not the case.

I understand how the industry works- I get that profits are needed in order to maintain a game company, however many companies are hugely profitable and do not even offer microtransactions and small paid DLC. Take CD Projekt Red- the give 16 free DLCs with the Witcher 3. In addition the base game is so huge that you can spend 100s of hours playing it. In other words, you get a lot of bang for your 60 bucks. And if you choose to purchase the paid DLC option- it offers you another 40 hours of additional content, which is a fair deal. $15 bucks lands you a lot of entertainment- i like that. $15 buck in Siege gets you 2 weapon skins and 1 new playable character. Awesome...

Lets look at siege. Fun game yes- I will surrender that. It is exciting, thrilling, and offers a tactical layer to shooting that few games offer. But with pretty much NO single player content (minus an extended tutorial) and only really 1 game mode its more on tune with a 20 dollar DLC for COD rather than a stand alone AAA title. You can play every game mode and map in a day or so. So while the base content is fun- there is very little in the way of variety or scope.

In addition they try to pry dollars out of you. Want a new operator? Pay us more... Want gun skins? Pay us more... Want new gun attachments? Pay us more... Sure you can grind for these things- but it is obviously set up to fuel microtransactions. Brand new players will spend a butt load and have a gear advantage over those playing for weeks and grinding for gear. That is not fair- the "pay to win" feature is clear here.

Few things are needed to operate a smooth FPS multiplayer shooter. Good mechanics are key, a good leveling system is important, balanced maps that cater to multiple gameplay styles is crucial, and of course balancing between weapons/play styles. Siege has many of these things- some more than others. But what it lacks is the single most important aspect of an FPS online game- good servers. The game freezes and crashes all the time, almost EVERY SINGLE MATCH this happens to some degree. If you play using the ranked play feature (with other experienced players) then you cannot quit a match. If you do you are banned for 24 hours. So when your game freezes and no one can move or shoot then you have to sit through 7 5 minute rounds never once being able to move. If you get board and do not want to spend 35 minutes starring at the screen then you can quit and not player for 24 more hours. The "no quit" rule to ranked play is not a bad idea though- however that rule mixed with **** servers creates a lot of frustration. Inexcusable.

Game like COD, Destiny, Battlefield, Battlefront, Evolve, and other MMOs have MUCH more strain on their servers and issues like the ones in siege are a rarity. It is clear Ubisoft cut corners in the server department and it cost the game dearly.

The fully destructible environments are amazing so hats off to Ubisoft for the complex programming required. 5v5 Player teams can destroy pretty much all walls, door, ceilings and floors needed to breach a room. This games takes group-planning and communication from your team members. It will take many hours to learn the maps, operators' skillset and loadouts for each. I've played many hours of this already (XBOX One, Lvl 15) and although the initial server connection always fails... any second attempt always works–not sure what the issue is. Fortunately I have a 10-50ms ping to the East coast azure servers, and once connected makes for smooth online gameplay. Considering this runs mostly online, it is amazing when everyone has good connections and mics. You will get the occasional ragers, haters, cursers and kiddies/squeekers, but they can be marked for kicking (by team vote) if need be. This is a true next-gen gaming product... if you have good internet (bandwidth, and ping speed to MS data center servers) then I highly recommend this product. PS4 and PC players have voiced numerous online issues which may be related to non-dedicated servers... so their mileage seems to vary which is too bad. Hopefully Ubisoft will host DediServs for all platforms soon. They will only hurt their reputation by hosting on sub-standard servers. Some people have complained about micro-transactions but you don't need to make those if you don't want to–they just accelerate the leveling-up process for those desperate to move up quicker at the cost of real money. Great game... rent at Redbox and make up your own mind for purchase. Expand

At first glance you could describe the games as 'content-lacking' - and while the absence of a campaign is slightly disappointing - but I find myself playing the same maps over and over while it always remains fresh and new. I believe this is due to the excellent operator system implemented and the incredibly fun destruction mechanic. In short, both are fantastic in Siege and really help the game not fall into the pit of monotony.

The return of Terrorist Hunt I find to be slightly lacking, but this is up to your own personal decision. I find myself wondering why I am killing AI bots on the same maps doing bland mission objectives when I could be doing very similar things in Rainbow Six Siege's 3 awesome online multiplayer modes. The situations are very lacking, throwing you in as one of Siege's many operators to complete a single objective, with a few bonus challenges as attempts at side objectives. A campaign replacement this is not, though it does at least serve up some bonus content.

At the end of the day, buy Rainbow Six Siege for its awesome multiplayer modes and kill some terrorists in the terrorist hunt mode if that is what you enjoy. The multiplayer is excellent and on its own worthy of at least a 7/10, however with the free dlc updates, terrorist hunt and an awesome soundtrack, I believe the game is worthy of an 8/10. Definitely pick this one up.

With that said I am glad they are concentrating on multiplayer and adding stuff to it over time. However, from the launch there needed to be more to multiplayer, more customization, more maps, more depth to the overall gameplay, more uniqueness to maps, I think they hit something really cool that hasn't been done yet in the shooter world but they need more work. The multiplayer is fun but it needs to have some options, having more game modes with and maybe things like having game modes more than 5 vs 5. I will say this I am glad they made it virtually impossible to run and gun. The game is truly a tactical shooter and the general census from talking with players online is that YOU NEED A MIC TO PLAY WELL. With more customization in players hands and some added depth and uniqueness to multiplayer this will definitely be a multiplayer game people will never get bored playing. In terms of the realism it is great, from the weapon sway when walking, to the just really great graphics and feel to the game, I look forward to what Tom Clancy has for the future. Expand

One problem is the final Mission (Article 5) requires real people to play with. If you don't have friends to play with, it can take a very long time to find a match. The multiplayer is always fun but playing casual can be difficult. People can kill teammates with you little to no repercussions in casual which is extremely frustrating. But in ranked everything is better. Longer rounds, more consequences for team killing and it is more competitive. Terrorist Hunt is great fun with friends and is a fun side mode. But one thing that impresses me about Siege is how they handle DLC. The maps are all free but the operators you can pay for without season pass or micro transactions. It will take a while but it can be done. This is one of the only games I will buy a season pass for, being $20 cheaper the BO3's Season Pass. Also the way the operators and weapons are distributed are great because they are not given to you all at once. I fully recommend this game for any console or PC. Other then some small nitpicks, the game is almost flawless. I love this game and I have been playing for months. Honestly, in comparison to other games that fit the genre, this game is the bottom of the pack. Pick an attacking or defending operator, join one of the 4 different game modes, and your primary goal in any case is most often just to kill everybody on the other team. If your goal is to extract the hostage, just kill the other team. If your goal is to plant/defuse a bomb, just kill the other team. If the goal is to kill the other team, kill the other team. Glitches online are unsettlingly common. Renown, which is the game's in-game currency, is used to purchase additional operators. On principle, I did not get season pass or purchase additional renown because I did my research before this game was released and wanted to assess the longevity. Turns out I was right. New operators cost too much to earn enough renown to purchase them with, and the game is too boring and repetitive to play consistently enough to earn renown. It's really just a vicious cycle of mediocrity, but that is apparently what Ubisoft has become content with releasing recently. Expand

The Operator system is one of the best things ever happened to gaming. Yes it is a hero system but done so well that it changes the game play each time a new operator is released.

It is like playing a game of chess and you don't know what the next move (selection) the other is going to make but according to the map, you make decisions and strategies. It is amazing.

Love everything about this game. The game play is the best out there with single life. It should be implemented in all games moving forward as it creates more tension and you strategies are corporate more with your team.

If one member of your team pics an operator, no body else can pick that one. THAT IS BRILLIANT as we don't end with up with 3 medics and 2 Snipers, like many other HERO games let you.

The community is amazing as well and they play well and listen to you even if you do not know them.

This isn't an easy pick up and play game though. It requires are learning curve and is worth taking time to learn and master.

Maps are so amazing that I am still learning them after 4 years. Filled with details and hidden areas.

This game really is a game of the decade in my opinion. If you want a good shooter with brains, dont look anywhere else. You are at the right place with Rainbow Six: Siege.

The community is alive and kicking and the gameplay is stellar, tactical, heart pounding, and dynamic. My first worry was a lack of content being only multiplayer. The fact I got both Vegas and Vegas 2 with my copy made the deal much more palatable. However I was still worried.

After a few matches and a great community and even fun PUGs, I have fallen in love the game. No match for me has played the same. The level of destruction is fantastic, but thought out too to allow for organized Chaos, a bit of emergent gameplay, without feeling cheap or overly destructive ala Bad Company 2. Another major point for me is the volumetric smoke and stellar particle effects which really lend to the confusion of battle during matches.

Fantastic purchase for me. Not sure if worth 60$ is worth it for everyone, but the level of service Ubisoft is giving the game is great and they listen to the community. This game will have legs that will carry it a long way.

The subtitle "Siege" is revealing since this game is all about raiding a building in order to save a hostage or disarm a bomb. The 5 player vs. 5 player modes consist of 5 rounds each with teams alternating between defending and attacking the bomb/hostage. Before each round, the defenders barricade the windows, walls, floors and ceilings, while the attackers recon the area with mini-drones. The team who wins three out of five are the victors. There are no respawns, so rounds are brief and the combat is normally in close-quarters.

But if you wish to practice before taking on real life opponents, you can play Terrorist Hunt which can be played solo or cooperatively with three others. In it, you must take down a number of A.I. controlled soldiers and save a hostage or disarm a bomb. Of course with "Siege" being a Tom Clancy game, there are plenty of tactics and cool gadgets that can be used. The game features five reality-based counter terrorist units; each having four "operators" (special classes) which must be unlocked with points you earn as you level up. In "Situations", a single player tutorial mode, you can "preview" the operator's special abilities while taking on the enemy A.I. Every firearm can be customized, but not extensively like in "Call of Duty". Unfortunately, you cannot customize your soldier in any way.

Overall, "Rainbow Six: Siege" is a fun tactical shooter, but like "Star Wars: Battlefront", it does not include a campaign and is pretty light on content. With only three competitive modes, 11 maps and Terrorist Hunt, it can get repetitive. Thankfully, Ubi Soft will constantly update it with free maps and if you own the XBOX One version, you get the two "Vegas" games for free. While "Siege" isn't as good as either "Vegas" game, or even the classic XBOX game "Rainbow Six 3", it does provide plenty of tense matches. The destructible barricades, walls, floors and ceilings can turn the tide of many battles and they help distinguish "Siege" from previous games in the franchise. Graphically, there is much to be desired. But while the game may not be much of a visual stunner, the unique gameplay makes up for it. Long time fans of Tom Clancy video games should enjoy it.

For a £40/$60 game, you expect a smooth, quality experience in a game so reliant on multiplayer, wouldn't you? Unfortunately, matchmaking is non-existent - you will face people with hundreds of hours from the get-go, flashing their fancy Ranked badges and 100+ ranks. Terrorist Hunt (PvE basically) is hosted by one member of the party, for some reason Ubisoft couldn't be arsed making servers for it. This means that any game can be disbanded when the host leaves, the experience can be sub-optimal if the host has bad connection or lives far away from you.

And Ubisoft just couldn't live without cramming uPlay down our throats. Even buying the game on Steam makes you install uPlay and play it on there, because Ubisoft will have a big tantrum if Steam gets all the attention and praise. It doesn't negatively affect the game as such, but it sort of lingers and breathes over your shoulder in an annoying way - they even entice you with Renown (currency) boosts and pretty gun skins in their Shift + F2 overlay (wouldn't want to copy Steam at all, would we?).

Thankfully there's no boosts that players can get by paying, the most you get is gun modifications like sights, barrel extensions, lasers, (which are bought by easily attainable currency) and a lot of skins. HOWEVER there are microtransactions for these skins, on top of DLC, on top of the base game's price. Classic money swipe from Ubisoft.

Overall I feel it's an incredibly well-made and intense game that separates itself from the endless crowd of generic shooters, but is let down by Ubisoft's conniving ways with taking people's money and hastily slapping together online services.

Holy s**t, I've never loved a game this much since Titanfall's release. (which is what got me into FPS's) Sure, it's not perfect, but Ubisoft's support, it EXTREMELY good gunplay, and fun gametypes keep us tactigeeks going back into the game over and over and OVER again. It's netcode is what I would say kept me from giving this game a full ten, or a 9, because although there are some OPHoly s**t, I've never loved a game this much since Titanfall's release. The netcode... admittedly, is... pretty bad. But omfg it's been getting a lot better. Hopefully it'll get somewhere close to BF4 netcode levels, but that'll let fate decide.

Overall, if you're looking for a competitive shooter, this is TRULY it compared to... pretty much every FPS on the market right now in terms of extremely fierce contests, and it's in my opinion, a fantastic purchase. Also, they're already releasing more and more operators (we've already gotten 2 via DLC, and that you don't have to pay to win them) so don't worry about stale content. :)

The subtitle "Siege" is revealing since this game is all about raiding a building in order to save a hostage, disarm a bomb or neutralize threats. The PVP modes consist of five rounds each with teams alternating between defending and attacking a bomb or hostage. Before each round, the defenders barricade the windows, walls, floors and ceilings, while the attackers recon the area with mini-drones. The team who wins three out of five are the victors. There are no respawns, so rounds are brief and the combat is normally in close-quarters.

However, if you do wish to practice before taking on real life opponents, you can play Terrorist Hunt which can be played solo or cooperatively with three others. In it, you must take down a number of A.I. controlled soldiers or save a hostage or disarm a bomb. Additionally, every firearm can be customized, but not extensively like in "Call of Duty".

Overall, "Rainbow Six: Siege" is an intense tactical shooter, but like "Star Wars: Battlefront", it does not include a campaign and is pretty light on content. With only three competitive modes, 11 maps and only Terrorist Hunt as the sole co-op mode, it can get repetitive. Thankfully, Ubi Soft constantly updates it with free maps. The XBOX ONE version also includes the two "Rainbow Six: Vegas" games as a free bonus exclusive. And while "Siege" doesn't offer as many options as previous R6 titles, it's still very good. The destructible barricades, walls, floors and ceilings can turn the tide of many battles and help distinguish "Siege" from its predecessors. This is a strategy-based action game that many long time fans of the series should enjoy. I'd rank it with a solid 8 out of 10.

Normally, I believe no game deserves a 10 because that would assume it's perfect.. Rainbow Six Siege is NOT a perfect game so let's tackle the bad: it's buggy. Net code has never been the strength of any Ubisoft game it seems and Siege is no exception. That said, I think folks are too quick to bash Ubisoft and give up on this game due to a few hiccups.

IMHO Rainbow Six Siege is the best shooter this console generation. Heck, I'd say it's the best shooter we've seen in over a decade. It's a tactical shooter that actually rewards teamwork and focuses on objective play. This alone puts Siege in a very special spot, as most shooters reward lone wolf tactics and focusing on KDA. This leads to very selfish, toxic behavior. Siege, by design, curbs this A LOT.

So what IS Siege and who is it for?

In simple terms, Rainbow Six Siege takes the slower pace of classic Call Of Duty Search & Destroy or Counter-Strike and brings back what we've always loved about Rainbow Six before Vegas came around: a slower paced shooter where heightened awareness and team coordination is favored over just running in and having super fast reflexes. I like to call this the shooter for "grown folk" but, as the game gets more and more popular, the infamous squeakers are coming in to do what they do. 360 no-scope? Sure, why not. Want to spawn kill? Try it.. And fail more times than not.

Siege is the ultimate shooter for folks looking for a real team experience. In every match I play, it's always obvious which teams are on comms and actually working together. The divide between teams with players whatever they want and those who actually try to synergize is MASSIVE. Again, it's rare to see online games that reward GOOD behavior so THANK YOU, Ubisoft!

If you like stealth, checking corners, sweeping rooms, using your environment to your advantage, making holes in things (yes, destructible environments are HUGE here), and the intense feeling that you get when you know an enemy is lurking somewhere nearby.. BY GOD... Play Rainbow Six Siege - seriously!

As I get older, I find I get bored of video games easily. The more I play a game, the less interesting it becomes. Siege somehow gets better and better the more I play it. That's refreshingly rare in a space that is filled with regurgitated, uninspired crap geared towards little kids and folks with ADHD.

Siege is a shining example of how you build a game into a platform. My only complaint there is that I wish it was a budget title or free-to-play so more folks would jump in. Launching this at full price when it is almost 100% an online multiplayer game was a bit of a bad choice but the momentum is still growing so Ubisoft lucked out there. I will also say that, as one of the few games I've pre-ordered over the past few years, I have absolutely NO regrets. It's worth every penny!

Back to the Siege platform, Ubisoft has made it so that everything that matters can be earned through in-game currency. For dedicated gamers, you can show off premium skins, victory poses, and other cosmetic goodies. I wholeheartedly recommend the Season Pass and this is probably one of the only times I would do so. I see it as a why to support a fantastic game and ensure they keep content coming for years to come.

We are currently in Year Two: that's four seasons, 2 new operators, and 1 new map per season guaranteed. In between the season updates, there are patches that improve the UI, add new features, balance the characters/operators, and introduce new in-game store items. The flow of content has been super satisfying and let me tell you: I play this game A LOT (hundreds of hours logged so far) and even I haven't unlocked everything. I like that. There's always something to work towards.

Everything about this game is satisfying to me: customizing my gear loadouts, changing my look, switching operators to compliment what my team has, having a huge gun fight in the final seconds of a round... It's all fantastic. Oh yeah, the operators - can't forget them! Siege takes class-based battle to a whole new level with unique named operators who each have their own backstory, gadgets, and special talents. This aspect brings a little MOBA flavor into the shooter genre while keeping the experience mostly grounded (the new elite uniforms get silly but I guess you need the twerking, stanky leg, and fireballs to attract a wider audience). The more you play, the more you get attached to select operators and establish your own gameplay style. There's really something for everyone here!

If you've been on the fence about this game, consider this: you can get it for under $20 if you go physical. There's also no shooter like it as far as I'm concerned. If you've always wanted something different and you're tired of Call Of Duty wannabes, give Siege a real shot. It's a very special game indeed.

Like Overwatch and other esports titles, "Siege" does not include a story campaign. The basic edition is almost like a starter pack now since it's devoid of any priced DLC. Unfortunately, microtransactions has become a big thing with this title. Yet, Ubi Soft has continually updated the game with free maps and limited timed events. Overall, this is a good, intense tactical shooter. I would rate the basic edition with an 8.4 out of 10.

I know that people complain about a "lack of content" because of the lack of a story mode. The game has no need for a single player campaign. This is due to the quality of the multiplayer. The sheer depth of the multiplayer mode is enough to keep a player occupied for hours. People also may complain about micro-transactions. It is safe to say that these micro-transactions don't give players an advantage like other games might. The only things micro-transactions give you are new operators, weapon skins, and character skins. These things can be unlocked with in-game currency, which you earn by playing the game. And could you really be mad at the developers for including micro-transactions? They are constantly updating and patching the game. Not to mention, they add new dlc maps and operators multiple times a year, which makes the game bigger and better. Personally, I love this game for the strategic depth that it gives players, and how brutal it can be to anyone who isn't expecting it. Rainbow six siege is a great game with a steep learning curve. I personally did not enjoy the game very much and did not have fun.

Rainbow six siege is a good game overall from fun mechanic's to intense game play and fresh content, but there are a few issues, Make sure you have good internet while playing, or you'll never find a match or the players will just vote kick you out, but the main problem here is the progression system, overall its very easy to level up, but takes days to get enough reknown (in gameRainbow six siege is a good game overall from fun mechanic's to intense game play and fresh content, but there are a few issues, Make sure you have good internet while playing, or you'll never find a match or the players will just vote kick you out, but the main problem here is the progression system, overall its very easy to level up, but takes days to get enough reknown (in game currency) for a new operator. A clever and compelling multiplayer offering that transplants the meticulous planning of classic Rainbow Six into a modern shooter - but concerns about its long-term prospects persist. [Feb 2016, p.75]

Rainbow Six: Siege may give the impression of being a work in progress still but it nevertheless delivers a tense tactical experience for those of you who will manage to play it with friends willing to participate in solid teamwork.

Rainbow Six Siege is a fantastic game at its core. The controls are tight, the action is a perfect mix of exciting and thoughtful, and there’s lots of interesting new ideas that should be praised. But the lack of content and shameless business practices hold it back from greatness.
