    Toki is an arcade style plat-former blast from the past 80’s arcade game that’s been revamped for todays Xbox One family of consoles. In Toki you take control of a warrior that lived peacefully in the jungle with his sweetheart Miho, who after being kidnaped by the terrifying voodoo sorcerer Vookimedlo and heinous demon Bashtar turns Toki in a hairy lethargic ape. You'll enjoy six fully lush environments invaded by Vookimedlo’s lackeys where Toki must walk, jump, swim, climb and spit to save his beloved Miho from the clutches of the evil Vookimedlo. Completely redrawn by hand by Phillippe Dessoly, illustrator of well-known manga cartoons, Captain Harlock and UFO Robot Grendizer. Re-live the classic “Insert Coin” were you can enjoy the same challenging gameplay style of the arcade classic. With one hit deaths, and no save system you will be using a few continues while you memorize where enemies appear and their movements. At first this game will be very challenging for players that have never played the arcade version, but will become addicted after a few restarts on level one. Seasoned players will feel at home as the levels are the same as the original just upgraded with better graphics and music. If you're a fan of retro games like myself I have no issues recommending this classic game redelivered.… Expand

    Toki on Xbox One is a welcome remake of a relatively lesser-known arcade classic. Whether it was worth bringing back at all depends on how rose-tinted your lenses are, but it’s certainly interesting to see a modest hit from 30 years ago find its way again on modern gaming platforms.

    I’m a big fan of playing old games, remembering how things were, and appreciating where we’ve come from. Sometimes though, it’s best to leave things in the past, and Toki is a prime example of that. Whilst the updated visuals and audio work will please those that hold fond memories of this classic, everything else just fails to impress, and if anything, only demonstrates exactly why we’ve moved on from such tedious functionalities.
