didn't play the first game but i find this game to be good. also putting out free dlc has players coming back. my only problem with the game is is that the marketing wasn't very good which caused it to be underrated.

The addition of a single player was much needed. The campaign is fairly short depending on which difficulty you play, but it is an excellent introduction to the game and it's mechanics. It is engaging, fun, and seemless. It brings back elements from old games where you had defined boss battles and gives a bit of nostalgia for the older generation of gamers.

The multiplayer has had its ups and downs from the start but respawn had been highly active in ensuring balance and fairness in the game. You're always going to have your naysayers, and the game can den to have net code and server/client rock rate issues at times bit for the most part the gameplay is fast paced, exciting, and different everytime. The mechanics smooth, movement is smooth, and you always feel like you can learn more. The leveling up system has changed from the first and it is pretty basic and straightforward. This is good for newcomers but for those of us use to the first one, it feels bland. The lack of challenges in regeneration is sorely missed.

The change to the titans was much needed. Many compassion about the lack of customisation from the first game, but the first game devolved into everyone using the same loadout and quickly became boring. This new style allows people to master a style that suits their play, or try to get comfortable with something new. The titans themselves have a rock, paper, scissors feel to them and each one had their best and worst matchups. You could be dominating one minute and then turn around and be facing your greatest weakness. This really forces players to think strategically and figure out how to best use their titan and set themselves up for success, or utter failure.

The maps themselves have become more lane based, but they have included, and continue to include old maps. This again is to appeal to newcomers use to call of duty games. This helps with getting use to the games mechanics and the old feel is still there once you get use to the movement. This also allows for more predictable engagement areas and less chaos than the first one. This does not mean that you don't have to be as aware of your surroundings, far from it. Those who get good at the mechanics, movement, and learn the maps, can still bring their own form of chaos.

This is van be a severe problem for new players who are still learning. They may feel like they are just being dominated and cannot contribute, this being no fun. But again, this game requires you to learn something that is new to first person shooters. Call if duty players seem to have the hardest time adjusting to this. But trust me, it is easy more fun to learn this system and gives a real sense of accomplishment when you wall run kill somebody and then drop down to execute a player, and then hop back up and fly across the map to leap into your newly dropped titan, only to completely change your mindset and strategy and engage the titan that had been wrecking your team.

This game is worth the money, and i can promise you'll enjoy investing hours of gameplay.

An improvement over the original "Titanfall". This sequel felt like a complete game from day one. Respawn Entertainment added a single player campaign that felt truly inspired, while multiplayer was expanded upon. Fans of Apex Legends should seek this out as it is a prequel to that Battle Royale shooter. I would rate this with a 9 out of 10.

There's nothing better than grappling across the map, sliding underneath a half open garage door, and finishing by snapping a Pilot's neck. A huge improvement from the original and definitely tells other gaming companies to stay away from it's style.
When your Titan says, "We are untied as one." it gives you a big burst of energy and next thing you know, your shoving your Titan's sword

Right up there in the “Best games of the last 10 years” category; Titanfall 2 shows exactly how sequels and online games should be done these days.
Decent single player that kept me engaged and entertained and multiplayer that hit all of the right notes.
The multiplayer unlock/reward system is one of the best I have ever seen. If more publishers and developers took cues from Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is a game that I overlooked for 2 years but I decided to get it and that's a decision i do not regret. The single player was great in my opinion but the multiplayer, while extremely good, did get repetitive after a while. I would've enjoyed maybe one or two more titans but the game was so good it barely needs it. In my eyes, Titanfall 2 is a must have.

Cooper and Lastimosa are both called in to combat on the IMC controlled planet of Typhon. A short combat sequence ensues before Cooper and a group of Frontier Militia are ambushed by The Apex Predators, lead by Kuben Blisk, who are a group of contracted mercenaries working for the IMC. They massacre the Frontier Militia soldiers and leave Cooper for dead. However, Captain Lastimosa sacrifices himself to save Cooper's life after he is mortally wounded in combat and BT-7274 is rendered immobilized. His last action is transferring over his pilot authorization to Cooper, making him BT's new Acting Pilot. After restoring BT's power cores from nearby downed airships, it's up to them to uphold the mission that was to be carried out by Captain Lastimosa.

The game's overall plot isn't much to write home about; it's perfectly fine. The one thing worth highlighting though is the relationship development between Cooper and BT. While initially tense and kind of awkward, the two of them begin to warm up to each other as the story progresses with BT offering assurance to Cooper in regards to his combat efficiency and Cooper trusting BT with his decision making. This goes a long way towards humanizing both characters despite the fact that one of them is a giant mech fighter. BT will also occasionally drop some pretty deadpan one liners that made my face perk up with a smile. I won't spoil any of them, since they need the proper context and gameplay experience.

At first, an interesting addition is the dialogue choices presented to the player, something that doesn't normally crop up in most modern FPS. However, in practice, there's only 2 options and it usually boils down to either playing it straight faced or adding a tinge of dry wit to the conversation. Don't expect it to influence the story or gameplay in any capacity. It does help you bond with the two characters a bit, but that's about all it's good for.

The core gameplay loop is split between playing as Pilot Cooper and controlling BT. As Cooper, the traversal and combat mechanics are superb. You can wall-run, double-jump, climb and slide so smoothly and seamlessly. Couple that with punchy, fast-paced combat mechanics that rival the Call of Dutys and the Battlefields of the genre and you have a gameplay loop that's endlessly fun to engage in; there's nothing more satisfying than wall running while cutting down enemy soldiers with a submachine gun. The wall-running and double-jumping abilities add tons of verticality to each level, allowing the size and scale of the levels to feel enormous; you are but one measly soldier in a giant, hostile world. The weapons are all standard to the FPS genre. You have pistols, submachine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, LMGs, rocket launchers, energy weapons, grenades and remote controlled explosives. The weapons all handle incredibly well and all have really unique designs.

Taking control of BT is never not euphoric, as you enter combat with other Titans and crush soldiers underneath your giant robot feet. Despite the massive nature of the Titans, combat and movement still flow rather well and can still be exciting. You have the ability to dodge enemy attacks. You can switch out various loadouts on the fly, which is nice, thus changing the types of weapons and abilities of BT. You can unlock various loadouts through story progression as they're very hard to miss during the run of gameplay. I never really found myself gravitating towards any one specific load out since they're all balanced rather well and each have there own advantages and disadvantages. If I had to pick one, I'd say the "Scorch" loadout was my favourite because lighting things on fire is never not satisfying and I probably just put myself on a watch list by typing that out...

My one tiny criticism of the Titan loadouts is that the magazine sizes on the primary weapons all feel rather meagre. I found myself reloading way more than I wanted to and it can kind of screw with the pacing of the game. Thankfully, the Titan loadouts also come with a lot of other weapons at your disposal such as shields that can catch and throw enemy projectiles back at them and a hover mechanic, just to name a few. You can also build up your Weapon's Core mode that, when activated, deals a massive barrage of death and destruction to anyone in the way.

Another criticism I have is with the Boss fights; they're all largely forgettable. Most of them take place in areas that feel too similar to areas that feature run-of-the-mill gameplay. The one boss fight that actually pulls this off is the one against Viper.

Overall, Titanfall 2 provides an incredibly fun and action oriented gameplay experience.

Titanfall 2 is a fun game. Even though it has a short campaign, I had a great time playing it. Multiplayer is fun thanks to the game’s amazing gameplay, but lack of balancing and awkward level design make it a forgettable experience. As a sequel, Titanfall 2 is everything it was supposed to be. By extension, that means it isn’t a game changer; it isn’t as inventive or surprising as its predecessor, but then again, it couldn’t be. Titanfall changed the trajectory of the FPS in a powerful and immediate way, and that success isn’t to be simply re-created but iterated upon dutifully. Despite Respawn’s best efforts, the game’s obvious advancements and its spectacular engagement across multiplayer, Titanfall 2 doesn’t offer the same determined focus and balance that defined its predecessor.
