This easily one of Telltales best. Have to admit I'm not a huge Borderlands fan but this game has hit the mark for me as far as story telling and overall enjoyment is concerned. I would recommend this to anyone who likes choice story driven games. If you liked what Telltale have put out before then do yourself a favour and grab this one.

To be honest, as much as I liked The Walking Dead and The Wolf Amog Us, this is probably my favourite Telltale game to date. Plenty of humour, with a great story and likeable characters!

It fails to recieve a 10 though, due to the constant technical issues the game suffers from, being a Telltale game.

I really hope Telltale and Gearbox work together again someday. :)

They went all out and delivered one of their best games thus far. Second only to the critically acclaimed first season of their Walking Dead game series. From the very first episode you can see the improvements made to the presentation brought on by the more cinematic camera angles and how the essence of the Borderlands series was perfectly captured, even with such a wild change in genres taking place.

We may be interacting with Pandora point-and-click style as opposed to the usual FPS/RPG style, but that doesn't mean the action is gone. The game has the best quick-time events, set pieces, and action sequences of any Telltale game I've played thus far. They wouldn't seem out of place in a big-budget film and are backed by the absurdity one would find in the main Borderlands games.

What really makes this such a special and memorable experience though is primarily the writing. The story is great and the decisions you make here actually have real, complex consequences. Once again there is a set ending, but the path you take to get there could look quite a bit different than someone else's. There are several moments where I struggled with what choice to make. The majority of your time though is dedicated to managing your relationships with the other characters. The people who make up the cast were forced to work together when their schemes to get ahead in life failed right before their eyes. You can choose to keep up the mistrust or come together and become family. These are hands down the best characters Telltale has ever created and I would be hard-pressed to believe we'll see them come up with others in the future. The voice acting is nothing short of flawless.

This being a Borderlands, expect plenty of familiar faces and plenty of laughter. This is one of the funniest games I have ever played. Telltale's sense of humor is varied and befitting of the Gearbox series. There's also no lack of emotion because of this. You grow to love these characters, and while it's a much happier game than Telltale's previous efforts with The Walking Dead and Fables series, there are moments of heartbreak. You'll go through a whole range of emotions. It's an incredible ride.

Not everything is perfect. The game uses a two protagonist system where you'll jump back and forth between two different perspectives throughout the course of the game. The issue arises from the fact that I only took to one of the playable characters. I loved Rhys right from the get go. Fiona on the other hand often left me irritated. I was fine with her when I was allowed to flesh her out and control her actions. I made her much more likable. When I wasn't in control she could be quite the jerk. There are also the technical issues. While quite less frequent than other Telltale games, we still get a few glitches here and there, as well as those awkward loading times that lead to choppy scene transitions.

Outside of those flaws, which feel quite minor when actually playing it, this is one heck of an excellent game. Telltale really took some efforts to challenge themselves here and they really paid off. Before I conclude this review I have to take a second to praise each episodes opening credits. They are incredibly clever and backed by licensed music. They serve as just one example of the little treasures in store for you in this game that adds up to the wonderful experience available to you. You may not be hunting down rare guns and other loot, but the story, characters, and humor all provide more than enough of a reason to return to Pandora. So I highly recommend that you do.

The humor almost always hits home with a great sense of confidence from the developers that aren't afraid to be serious, ridiculous, and confusing all in the same chapter! My one issue is a romance that, while optional, seems forced (although by the end something happened that made me change my mind). Overall the first two and last two episodes are top of the line for games like this, and 100% worth the asking price. You truly do not want to miss out on this story. Expand

A very appealing and well presented storyboard game. The humor hits point and it really rewards fans of the series. Rather weak on exploration and I can attest through several play throughs that there is little difference in outcome between carefully considering your responses and basically remaining silent for the majority of the game.

A series of unlikable characters play through a series of boring scenarios interspliced with tediously unfunny dialogue. Only positives were that it was free and an easy 1000 gamer score.

That is not the case anymore Tales from the Borderlands is without a doubt my favorite in the Borderlands game, and it isn’t even technically a Borderlands game. Telltale has done it again with this spin off game about non-badass characters surviving in the world of Borderlands. Unlike the rest of their games that are grim and dark this keeps the Borderlands feel like dark humor, weird humor, and well just being funny as hell. I haven’t gushed about a Telltale game in sometime so I apologies in advance for this review.
The games story is mainly a flashback story from the point of view of two characters Rhys and Fiona. Rhys is a company man from Hyperion who is trying to basically become the big guy on top by finding a vault. Fiona is a con artist who ends up teaming up with Rhys in a search for treasure. They of course have a cascade of characters like Sasha who is Fiona’s sister, to Vaughn who is Rhys’s best friend. Or douche villain Vasquez who is hunting Rhys voiced by Patrick Warburton. The games story is so frigging great I am afraid to give any details on any specifics because it is something you must experience for yourself. I will say there are many cameos that happened and the story does take place after the events of Borderlands 2 which is very significant. Oddly I tried to get what I could of an evil ending by making character choices that were clearing in the wrong and still ended up with a happy ending. So that basically means Telltale hasn’t changed in the choices department. You can make choices but regardless what you choose you will still end up in the same place. I will say some characters won’t make it based on your choices so that is a plus from typical Telltale style where if someone was going to die you could only delay it and not prevent it. The story is the only reason to play this game and each episode leaving you with this must play feeling. It is the only way I could play these episodic games, because being forced to wait another five months for the next episode would be excruciating.
The games graphics are an interesting mix between Borderlands and Telltale. It is hard to explain but if you have played both then you’d understand the graphics I’m talking about. Basically the characters are more Telltale than Borderlands but the colors and shading are Borderlands like. The games music is some amazing work. Each song isn’t an original song but fits so well. I know the song Kiss the Sky by Shawn Lee is one of my favorite songs in this. The voice acting of course is amazing with big time professionals like Troy Baker, Nolan North, and previously mentioned Patrick Warburton.
The game plays exactly like any other Telltale game. It is an adventure like game covered in timed story choices and quick time events almost impossible to lose. The one issue I really have with this games and it is a big one is the fact there is no replicability to them. Telltale games are all great the first time you play them, but once you know the outcome of your choices it is less of an impact and I personally lose interest with them. For the price they are these games are great for a one and done deal.
Overall while the game has been out for a while if you are like me and love playing an entire story all at once definitely get this game it is well worth playing. Only if you know that this is a story driven game with limited gameplay, it is only six hours long, and if you can rent it you should because it is a one and done kind of game. I loved this game and think about the story and outcomes since I beat it three days ago. Before I give a rating I have to say it is only $20 for this experience so if you can’t rent it then buy it because this is so worth the money for the experience you get from it. I give it a 4.5/5. Well gamers Brandon (yeah third person) would love to hear your thoughts on this game as well. What did you think? Put it in the comments below and I’d love to chat about it. Until next time.

No, there is nothing wrong with my memory (hopefully!) rather, there wasn't many meaningful and memorable moments in the game in general. The characters we're fine, the story was kinda over the top borderlands silly fine, and yet, something was missing. I didn't have all the other good and fond memories, lets say, from TellTale's Walking Dead or from Borderlands 2. One might argue that you can't keep measuring TellTales games based on Walking Dead alone, cause they have multiple other games - sure, maybe it's just that a drama sticks better than a comedy sitcom that is Tales From The Borderlands.

The game is ok, nothing wrong with it, sadly nothin is really great about it either, I much prefer TellTale's other takes.

Legacy concerns still plague this game like they have been doing for the last half-decade. However, dialogue options feel the most cohesive they've ever been and the combat adds a few new wrinkles while fixing what didn't work before.

With each new entry, Telltale Games seems to learn even more about how to keep you waiting impatiently for their next game. Tales from the Borderlands is one of its finest titles so far, combining great characters with a good narrative and unforgettable moments.
