Street Fighter was probably one of the first games that I played growing up and playing these types of game’s in arcades brings back a lot of fond memories, so as you can imagine I was excited to get to grips with Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. Thankfully this collection is absolutely fantastic and the thought and effort that’s been placed into it makes the memories I spentStreet Fighter was probably one of the first games that I played growing up and playing these types of game’s in arcades brings back a lot of fond memories, so as you can imagine I was excited to get to grips with Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. Thankfully this collection is absolutely fantastic and the thought and effort that’s been placed into it makes the memories I spent playing these game’s as a child come flooding back even more, which is awesome. Each game that’s been put into this collection has been done really well and at times you forget just how old these game’s are. Most of them have aged extremely well and the only game that feels a little out of place is Street Fighter I, but obviously I can understand why it’s been included. I was very interested to see how the controls would work on the Xbox One, and thankfully they’re perfect. The controls remain fluid and responsive throughout your time with the game and this is very important because along the way you will have some very difficult fights. I will admit though that I was a little rusty at first so that might explain the high difficulty curve because when I got used to the different game’s quirks again things did start to become easier. In terms of content there is more than enough to keep you satisfied and the added online components were something that I was very eager to try out. Obviously back in the day there were no online modes so playing these game’s with different people around the world was a very thrilling experience, and the best thing is that I hardly bumped into any problems when playing the game’s this way. Without a doubt one of my favourite things about this collection was its interactive timeline. There is lots of information on each character available to you and reading up and checking their moves along the way not only made each game immersive but it also made each game interesting as well and in a way this made playing through each game like a new experience. I was always a fan of the presentation side of things with each Street Fighter game back in the day so I was looking forward to seeing them again. Thankfully they’ve done a great job with both the visuals and sound design and most important of all they’ve kept everything retro, which of course made me experience even more nostalgic moments. At the end of the day even if you’re only a small fan of the Street Fighter series then I fully recommend that you treat yourself by purchasing Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. Obviously if you’re a big fan of the Street Fighter series then this game is an absolute must buy and you’ll be pleased to know that they’ve done the series complete justice and in a way breathed new life into these classic fighting game’s. I've been waiting years for this; a Street Fighter compilation of the arcade versions for modern home systems. It's fun to see the evolution of the series from the first game to Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. I play with a Hori arcade stick fitted with Sanwa buttons and it's a joy. Also, I must confess, it's fun just letting it run in Attract mode in my office while working on other things :) It's truly a celebration of the series and has been a long time coming. I wonder, though, if this will be the last time we see it in its original arcade resolution as time appears to have finally caught up with it and the games' assets are pixel-y on modern displays. I use the arcade filter and play on a 4K screen on the Xbox One X, and it looks fine - that's just how games looked on screens back then. I'm glad they preserved the graphics so that younger players can see what these titles looked like back in the day. I think Capcom found perfect time to release this compilation. Thank you, Capcom, you answered my prayers - I love it. Expand

Gameplay - All of the best SF titles in one place, pretty straight-forward. Online support for three SF2 variants, SF Alpha 3 and SF Third Strike. Seamless jumping between games in lobby, with options to spectate. Custom control configurations and typical arcade settings abundant.

Graphics - Fluid and with few breaks in frame-rate, all games look preserved well - with no added adjustments to pallets beyond vibrancy of the colors.

Sound - All original soundtracks are here, sound is crisp.

Other: Still doesn't feel quite right with an Xbox controller. That's not a slam on Xbox (I love their controller), its just a bit too crunchy on the d-pad and I noticed some latent response in the sticks.

Verdict: A perfect companion for those of us that grew up with the late 80's classic fighter. All the best of the franchise is here, and this is the smoothest I have seen servers for these classics in a long time. 8/10

Bare bones arcade ports with input lag issues and poorly implemented practice mode.

Imprescindible para los amantes de esta franquicia. La historia condensada. Quizás se eche en falta un poco más de mimo en la interfaz principal.

This game could have been great. Unfortunately the controls are absolutely horrendous. It really makes it a waste of a great concept. If you are buying to remember your original playing days you will be sorely disappointed.

Firstly, the trailer for this features SF4, but it isn’t actually included. I found out the hard way. Yes, I already have SF4, but for $50 I expected more. I was a 90s kid. I played all the old versions of street fighter to death and I was particularly excited to finally get a copy of Super SF2 and Super SF2 Turbo. But that excitement didn’t last. A near-flawless collection of the original arcade versions. Plenty to get stuck into. [Sept 2018, p.86]

Street Fighter titles are still as addictive and entertaining as ever, but some of the titles in this collection are missing.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is crafted for the fans, first and foremost. It’s a rich and generous game, which only lacks some more options while playing online.
