SpeedRunners is simple but fun, and is definitely made more fun with the addition of three friends. The chaos of the fast gameplay, the power-ups, and the welcome stress of keeping pace makes a great combination. Whether it's online with friends or offline with the bots, the game mostly works well mechanically, outside of some camera concerns. It does feel a little overwhelming at first and the story mode feels short, but thanks to the multiple modes on offer, SpeedRunners is a race worth chasing.

Whilst SpeedRunners may be a long way from any action-packed blockbuster, there is certainly enough included to warrant dusting it off every once in a while for some multiplayer madness.

This is the Mario Kart of Jump'n'Runs. Everytime a joy to play some minutes. Easy to learn, hard to master. Some real cracks in online battles!

SpeedRunners is a quality game free with GOLD for Xbox One. I agree that the pictures on the store are deceiving, because I and friendsSpeedRunners is a quality game free with GOLD for Xbox One. I agree that the pictures on the store are deceiving, because I and friends thought it would be terrible when it turned out to be an extremely entertaining game. The concept is simple: outrun your opponents to an extent where they are so far behind they fall off the screen. This is very fun with the simple yet powerful 2-dimensional graphics that make you mad at your friends and wanting to play again at the same time. Powerups (that include dragging your opponents back with hooks and shooting them with missiles) provide a humorous experience that keeps you wanting more game time. Carefully chosen fast-paced and rhythmic music adds to the suspense of who will be triumphant. Multiple maps provide variety whilst a roulette wheel and other game-changing options never leave you with a boring experience.

It is hard to express what a change of heart I had when I first picked up the controller and started playing this game - sure, the menus could be a bit clearer for the purpose of the game you want to play, and the tutorial doesn't exactly tell you everything you need to know, but once you get into the groove of things, this makes no difference whatsoever. There are some worries regarding camera issues when one player is quite a way ahead, but this can be beneficial as it allows the others to catch up which adds to the later suspense (this issue isn't that major). All this comes with no disc but an extremely low download size from the store and the ability to play offline with the practice and story modes, and online with local or online multiplayer. Updates are also very small, so it's a great addition to your Xbox One for that small amount of space you have left.

In conclusion, running, jumping and swinging is so much more fun than you ever thought, especially with friends. All I can give is praise to be plain honest - it really does pack a powerful punch for only a couple hundred megabytes.
