On the whole, Song of Iron has become a very appealing game. The storyline is part of the game, but the focus of the game is clearly on the battles with the various enemies. Of course, puzzles and jumping passages are also on board. The gameplay is pleasing and rather reminiscent of the old games of yesteryear. The controls are decent, but seem rather overloaded at some moments. In return,On the whole, Song of Iron has become a very appealing game. Song of Iron will get its hooks into you, refusing to let go until you reach the end. Yes, there are some weird control configurations to get used to and at times you may find yourself lost and confused, unsure what to do next. But there is an overwhelming feeling of being involved in a huge epic saga throughout; one that is grand, sweeping, and brilliantly executed.

Song of Iron is a short and sweet Nordic adventure that tells a simple story which ends up much deeper than it first seems. With a range of gorgeous environments to explore and relatively satisfying combat, it only occasionally frustrates with some tricky boss fights and clunky movement resulting in some platforming pitfalls. Still, these grievances don’t last long, as I found the world created by Resting Relic to be a stunning one to explore and very thoughtful in its style and presentation. Mostly, I’m just astonished with how great it is that a solo developer is capable of creating this wonderful little journey, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
