If you release a game in the platforming genre then your game comes under a lot of scrutiny because there have been a number of classics over the years, and whilst Shiny isn’t a bad game it can’t unfortunately be called a really good game either. The controls in a platformer are very important, and unfortunately the controls here feel clunky and don’t always remain responsive. Shiny also suffers with a few technical issues as well and these issues can make for a very frustrating experience at times. The game does however have some decent gameplay and they’ve done a very good job of making the gameplay the right sort of challenging. I also really liked the checkpoint system they used and it definitely had a unique feeling to it. The level design is sorely lacking when it comes to variety, and each level felt and played the same and I must admit that I did get bored a few times during my playthrough. The game does however have a lot of charm going for it and that’s mainly down to the robots, which I grew quite fond of through my playthrough. The presentation side of the game may not be anything special, but it’s something I actually found to be pretty enjoyable. I especially liked the soundtrack in the game and I thought it combined with the gameplay very well. At the end of the day I appreciate the effort that has gone into the making of Shiny, but unfortunately it just has too many problems and that in the end harms your experience somewhat. Some people however will find some enjoyment here, but massive fans of platformers will find this particular platformer lacking in certain areas. If there weren’t as many problems then we would be talking about a very good platformer, but whilst it may be average the price of the game is good and this makes me give Shiny a small recommendation.… Expand
