    Play If: You like adventure/mystery games. This is one of the best and most polished one of these games. Also, if you are a big Sherlock Holmes fan you will get a kick out of this game.

    Don't Play If: You expect a challenge or a clear cut logical investigation. The solutions to the mysteries are not always intuitive or make much sense, but I found this to be less of an issue because you    Play If: You like adventure/mystery games. This is one of the best and most polished one of these games. Also, if you are a big Sherlock Holmes fan you will get a kick out of this game.

If you can handle the frequent loading screens and slow pace of the game, you will be rewarded with a finely crafted game experience that captures the heart of Sherlock Holmes and his adventures. Crimes and Punishments is a game that takes getting used to. Players may be at first off put by the awkward controls of Sherlock, but switching to the newly added first person perspective eliminates this hassle. After getting used to the controls, you will be free to enjoy Sherlock's adventures. Crimes and Punishments is comprised of 6 cases that vary in locations which helps keep the game fresh and exciting to see what the next case will bring. The game uses the Unreal Engine 3 and it definitely shows. The environments are very detailed with bright colors that pop. There are some areas that are gorgeous and will have you admiring their beauty. The sound design is also excellent with all the voices for the actors well voiced and the environments come to life, the music is also fittingly mysterious and creepy. The game really excels at putting the player in the shoes of Sherlock Holmes from investigating the crime scene, interrogating suspects, analyzing clues, and finally deducing what happened. One significant fault with the game is that sometimes it doesn't explain fully what you are supposed to do in a certain sequence or puzzle which can leave the player lost as what to do. Luckily you can skip any puzzle, but the tutorials for these parts still should have been explained better. Another problem that can grate after awhile is the lack of variety of gameplay mechanics in the game. I got a bit tired of the formulaic structure of the game. I also wish the investigations were trickier, because most of them were pretty obvious who the culprits were. Overall though, I enjoyed my time with Crimes and Punishments. I'd recommend this game for fans of Sherlock Holmes and players who like to solve detective mysteries.… Expand

    This is my favorite Sherlock Holmes so far, previously the Jack the Ripper one was my favorite. The acting is superb and the atmosphere is immersive. The puzzles are fun and the environments are constantly changing. The world of Sherlock Holmes is beautifully created and you feel totally present in that world. The music fits perfectly and contributes well to the mood. I played untilThis is my favorite Sherlock Holmes so far, previously the Jack the Ripper one was my favorite. The world of Sherlock Holmes is beautifully created and you feel totally present in that world. The music fits perfectly and contributes well to the mood. I played until the early hours of the morning thinking it was only midnight, totally lost in the world. This game is not for someone looking for a lot of action but if you want to live in the world of Sherlock and Dr. Watson for a while or even Toby the best nose in London you should have a good time with this game.     Really good game, best detective game I ever played. Like the way it was built with clues and that you could test out different ways how the evidence and actions played out, if it made sense or not.
    Really like that you could solve the case wrong and frame the wrong person and that you have moral choices as well.

    i like this game only problem is the game not open world as i want to expect game of this graphic should have.

    but overall i like the game it very detective using ur mind to see who real criminal is looking at clue solving puzzle all good down side but felt slow to much loading scene its xbone one shouldn't the loading scene be cut down to 3 seconds Only wish This game been    i like this game only problem is the game not open world as i want to expect game of this graphic should have.

    Crimes and Punishments is a game that takes getting used to. However I didn’t feel emotionally engaged when playing the game. I didn’t feel I could finish work and go home, switch the Xbox on indulge in this game.

    Crimes and Punishments is made up of 6 main cases that vary in locations which helps keep the game fresh and exciting to see what the next case will bring. However the cut scenes don’t really helps its cause as I’d much rather it be an open world game and me travel there myself.

    The environments and landscapes are very detailed with bright colours that pop out when playing. The sound design is also excellent with all the voices for the actors well voiced and the environments come to life, the music is also fittingly mysterious and creepy. The only issue is, after watching numerous Sherlock Holmes movies I didn’t feel the game quite projected what I had expected.

    However, the game really excels at putting the player in the shoes of Sherlock Holmes from investigating the crime scene, interrogating suspects, analyzing clues, and finally finding out what happened. So I guess more or less it involves doing what is says on the tin.

    Dreadfull "game", I don't know whats worse the tedious backtracking between the same few locations or dreadful mini "games" which break it up. The arm wrestling being the worst of these, if once wasn't bad enough you have to do it multiple times or you can't progress, why??? For all I know there was a third and fourth attempt but I uninstalled it after the first realising that I hadDreadfull "game", I don't know whats worse the tedious backtracking between the same few locations or dreadful mini "games" which break it up.     I am glad i didn't buy this game. Got it free with Games with Gold. It's absolutely horrible and not interesting in the least. Oft times scrambling to figure out what to do next. Lots of back and forth to locations via the carriage that is a ruse for a loading screen. I only solved the first case and have no interest to carry on with this nonsense.

    Attention! This Sherlock Holmes is not an Achievment Booster Game like the other SH before. To get all Achievements you have to clear a difficulty Game and you cannot use PC Walkthrough to get all Achievements.

    Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment has several interesting investigations. The investigation deduction process is well designed often leading to several possible outcomes. The voice acting is pretty good but the graphics are below expectations for the current console generation.

    Worth a playthrough. The cases are fun and engaging, even if they don’t all pan out in the clearest endings. Could use more work to stand out though.
