    Jogo excelente, nao entendo as criticas, jogo extenso, gráfico excelente, personalização muito boa, armas, muuuuuita exploração, quem é das antigas e jogou os classicos sabe que tomb raider em sua excencia é exploração e nao combate, missoes secundárias bem feitas, eu adorei o jogo, valeu o dinheiro e o tempo.

    BEST TOMBS OF THE REBOOT. The graphics are uneven, the story and villain are relatable and sympathetic but not exciting. The tombs are the best of the new reboot series, they are challenging fun and satisfying. Each one with traps and challenges different from the next. The final boss is uninspired and simple. If you are a Tomb Raider fan this is enjoyable and lots to explore and discover.

I thought of buying but after the gameplays I saw I decided to save my money, I will spend on games that are really worth it and not in a garbage of this totally dated

    The reboot series is great and so is Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Even if it's more Uncharted than old school Lara Croft, the style works great. Overall rating: 8.6.

    Let me start by saying that I think the first two games in this trilogy are top tier action adventure games. The first game is one of my all time favorite games and I think it’s a masterpiece. Let me also start by saying that if you have played the new tomb raider games for the action, combat, and platforming this game will be your favorite.

    With all that said, I think this is the weakest game in the trilogy and I think the reason for that is because they focused on making a big semi-open world instead of on story, polish, and character work. Let me start with my positives
    -graphics are amazing even on next Gen consoles. The boost it gets on my series S is amazing. Playing at 4K 60fps really enchanted this games already amazing graphics and visuals
    - Laura Croft: Laura is an amazing character and shines here just like she did in the other games. Her arc in this game is probably the best of the trilogy.
    - new stealth mechanics. This game ups the stealth gameplay, really new ways to kill, hide, and sneak around I loved this part.
    - combat feels good.
    - the addition of being able to repel has made climbing so much more fun, interesting, and cool.
    - setting: the jungles of Peru were a great setting for this game. This game feels like a Indiana Jones movie.
    - tombs: the tombs in this game take it to another level. Smart puzzles and a lot more tombs! If you play these games for puzzles and tombs this one is for you! This game feels very much so like it earns the title of tomb raider.

    Here are my negatives which are what brought it down for me to a 8.

    - the story lacks direction and focus. Without spoilers, the story makes you think you are getting a game centered on Laura’s family history, and while that is there, the middle section of the game ignores that plot arc and focuses on a conflict in the jungle and a family squabble that failed to hook and invest me, I felt like it was a lot of filler and distraction. When the story focused on Laura, the villain, and her past it was awesome. The first section of the game and final two missions feel very focused and are absolutely amazing but everything in between feels messy.
    - the climbing mechanics need some work, I got way to frustrated in this game from random falling death, the game ignoring my inputs to grapple or attach to walls, super annoying and not consistent.
    - the open world elements are boring and filled with fetch quests.
    - the big action set pieces are tedious and repetitive.
    - last complaint, there is a giant climbing segment before the final boss that is frustrating and kills the momentum of the story because of how long it takes.

    This is a great game, it just struggles in some areas. It is worth playing, it is worth finishing out the trilogy, if you like tombs this is your game.    … Expand

    By far the worst of the Tomb Raider trilogy. Combat is infrequent and not as engaging as Rise of the TR. Mission structure is confusing and the game is far too quick to conclude. If you are playing the trilogy, go for it, but no shame in skipping this one. The first 2 are far better. Feels like a rushed game with about half the content it should have had.

    Boring walk and pick up junk simulator..Bugs every where, puzzles broken and cant be solved unless you restard, thanks to jenk pysics..There about 5 combat encounters in the first 20 hours. Nice world to look at but it boring

    Very good game but desperately needed more combat. Maybe they could have added things here and there but overall, the biggest issue, was the lack of combat. Amazing exploration and adventure game besides that and very beautiful if you have HDR

    Skill trees/upgrades are now almost useless
    Official reviews said the gore level was high. Where?
    Automatic flashlight is just as bad as those bloody glowsticks. Give me back my torch!
    Combat feels slightly off compared to Rise
    Game takes your weapons off you all the time
    Outfits/costumes are so boring
    Clothes no longer look wet/dripping after swimming
    Jonah still serves no purpose in this game

    I was so hoping than Jonah was killed off in Rise with that stomach gunshot, but no, the Divine Source has allowed him to come back again. Sigh. He adds nothing to the series- he has no technology or history knowledge and ends up simply being a burden that Lara must rescue time and time again. Hopefully he has now found love and settles down with a family.

    After the death of Roth what Lara really needed was a tech-savvy male who would teach her to hunt artefacts for 'sport.' The main reason that Lara's character has not grown at all since TR2013 is that she surrounds herself with slow thinking people like Jonah. Wake up Eidos/Crystal and fix the story writing!

    Also, there were so many missed opportunities in this game.
    1. Imagine if the Paititi locals had plaited Lara's hair into her classic braid. The fans would have gone wild!!
    2. Imagine if Eidos had written better dialogue, scenes like 'wow, that was close,' could have been 'wow, that was exciting!' showing the real adventure heart that Lara has. Unfortunately they do not even understand the character they are writing.
    3. Imagine if they ever had the courage to give us back the dual pistols or show her legs.

    And lastly- please, Eidos/Crystal, no more trilogies. Lara spent three games trying to get over the memories of her father. It became very tiresome. The next Tomb Raider set must be single games with heaps of globe trotting and a sassy Miss Croft. Give us something to believe in!

    Shadow of the Tomb Raider is already the third part of the reboot series. Previous games have been flawless. The Tomb Raider from 2013 was good and the Rise of the Tomb Raider was great. But what will Tomb Raider from 2018 offer us? Honestly nothing much extra new. Where the previous episode excelled, Shadow of the Tomb Raider does nothing. It will neither please nor disappoint. It doesn'tShadow of the Tomb Raider is already the third part of the reboot series. Previous games have been flawless. The Tomb Raider from 2013 was good and the Rise of the Tomb Raider was great. But what will Tomb Raider from 2018 offer us? Honestly nothing much extra new. Where the previous episode excelled, Shadow of the Tomb Raider does nothing. It will neither please nor disappoint. It doesn't bring much new. I'd start with graphics that were ... different. I can't really say whether it's better or worse. We could see a clear shift in previous games, but this is not the case now, and I would rather lean towards the graphics of the previous game from 2015. But don't take me wrong. The game looks wonderful. The locations are great and again I can't help myself too much, whether better or worse. But this time I would rather lean towards this work. A beautiful jungle that seemed all the more vivid when a jaguar appeared in one scene. Speaking of those scenes, they were sometimes really luxurious and just underlined the quality story. The game is also helped by the fact that there is a childhood of Lary Croft, which helps to some backstory of the character, and overall in this work I have a greater relationship with the character than in previous games. The arsenal of weapons has not undergone much change. As cool as the last game. Side activities also peck. The end of the game is wonderful and overall the perfect end of the series for me, unless the developers give us another part. So if I omit the smaller hate from the beginning and I mean that the game does not bring much new or perhaps that the graphics came to me even slightly worse, then it is a great game and I personally dare to say about the best part of the series. Лара находит в скрытом склепе древний церемониальный нож и всё,Снова Лара Крофт и теперь берегись Мексика и Перу, ибо наша любимая расхитительница гробниц снова на тропе разрушения и убийств. Хорошо, что дальше Лариску сюжет забрасывает в джунгли Перу, и там вот пусть рушит сколько вздумается. А ей вздумается, поверьте мне. Сами понимаете, фирменные по данной серии игр пробежки Крофт с надвигающимися разрушениями тут на месте, их немного, но это вроде как не надоедает. Наблюдаем очередную попытку создать на нескольких картах подобие открытого мира, но получилось как-то криво, если честно, не ровен час уткнёшься в непроходимый кустарник или непреодолимую оградку высотой по пояс. Утрирую я конечно, но весь этот так называемый открытый мир не более чем линейный лабиринт. Попытались карты насытить дополнительными событиями, но они что-то совершенно не интригуют и сбивают темп прохождения основной ветки. Вот разве что разведывать заброшенные склепы интересно, но их не то чтобы очень много. Картинка в игре стала посимпатичнее, но вот под водой Лара как будто болтается в воздухе. Ну честное слово, АС Origins вышел значительно раньше, посмотрите как там под водой всё сделано, просто небо и земля. По геймплею всё практически то же самое, что и было в Сибири, разве что появились пара-тройка новых механик при преодолевании препятствий в том числе и бег по стенам. Лара теперь также может перемазываться грязью и прятаться в стенах, обросших кустарником, таким образом стелс ну прям очень сильно обогатили, но учитывая, что сражений стало ещё меньше, восхититься всем этим делом толком не удаётся. Эх, скучаю по беспределу, который творился в 2013 году. Сюжет какой-то неровный, то вроде бы захлестывает и становится интересно, то прямо вот уж совсем скатывается в банальщину, чаще, к сожалению именно последнее. Это уже если совсем не обращать внимание на великолепные индуктивные способности Ларисы в духе: «1+2=3, 3 - значит красное, красное - значит гора с серебряной шапкой и т.д.» От игры остались какие-то смешанные ощущения, сказать что плохо так вроде бы и нет, но и восхищаться здесь особо нечем, периодически посещали мысли о преждевременном окончании происходящего.… Expand

    What Is Shadow of the Tomb Raider ? A game that has nothing to do with Tomb Raider and its spirit, who died in the reboot in my opinion.

    So basically, it's a walking simulation, in a fake open world (you can't climb 80% of the stuff). 70% of the gameplay is hunting, picking stuffs (in nature or reading useless stuffs). Everything is scripted when you explore the tombs, you have no liberty at all and you have to take THE way the devs wanted you to take). YOU DON'T HAVE TO THINK, except for some littles puzzles in very few moments. The firts tomb raider were way HARDER and better in everything.

    Basically so : useless side quests, useless story, useless characters (yeah, the fat latino with you is useless, Lara needs to be alone and don't talk, the immersion in levels normally have to do the talk if you understand what I mean), broken stealth system, too many cutscenes and dialogues, you collect things that you will never use, the map system is horrible.

    The only thing positive is the aestheticism in the game, that's all.

    I finish the game in 20 hours in hard mode doing a big part part of the side quests (thing that would be unconceivable with the first tomb raider). 80% of my deaths were due to : stealth that doesn't work, broken gameplay when you climb etc). Basically it's a straight line, and if you try to think and try other possible ways, you will die...

    Tomb raider needs to stop trying to copy the other games and come back to what make the success : a very hard game with crazy level design, immersion (you have to feel trap where you are). No no no and no, tomb raider is NOT a RPG with quests with talks to useless characters. That's the fate of video games nowadays (unfortunately) : you wanna please for a large public to make money, with everything is scripted with no savor!     I played through the game after almost 37 hours and got 83/99 achievements (1590/1690 achievement points), including 100% success. Except for the time and point attack modes, I've completely exhausted the game. I also played all of the Graves DLC.

    story

    Overall, in terms of storytelling, I really liked the game towards the end, because at the beginning I thought this apocalyptic scenario would be too strained. I especially liked the hidden city and everything around it. The story is casually nicely expanded by the many collectibles and everything gets more substance similar to the part before.

    The DLC graves also come with their own stories or fit well into the story and give Amaru in particular more background. Because Amaru was the biggest weakness for me, because he simply had too little screen time and therefore has far too little to offer as a character. As I said with some DLC graves it gets more profile but overall it could have been represented better. Trinity also came up short on the surface.
    Furthermore, I would have liked a longer change of scenery in this part as well.

    What I really have to praise are the parts that are supposed to slow down the game a bit. I like it very much and give Lara and the player a break themselves.

    I also always find it super interesting in games when they deal with gods etc. and integrate them into the game (e.g. Ah Puch, Cabrakan etc. by the way, the grave of Hun Batz from the DLC is pretty cool).

    Gameplay

    I really liked the scope of the game as well as some of the new features. Shadow of the Tomb Raider feels really like a classic Tomb Raider on the PC. In addition, there is New Game + and the aforementioned point u. Time mode.

    The classic Tomb Raider feeling begins with the graves, some of which are breathtaking and both tricky and require skill (especially the DLC graves often rely on skill passages). I also liked the crypts, which are often associated with side quests, and contribute to the really good worldbuilding. The monoliths are now connected with puzzles, which made them even more interesting, even if in the end mostly only Mats jumped out.

    The skill and upgrade system works well and I really liked the look of the skill sheet. Individual skins look very good and also give e.g. good upgrades in the area of ​​faster leveling.

    As already mentioned, the collectibles gave me a lot of fun again and were incredibly motivated, so collecting tasks like this have to be integrated. The challenges were fun too, even if they didn't really live up to their name (mostly the challenge was finding them).

    When it comes to climbing, too, you have to think about something and, for example, integrated overhang climbing. Overall, as in the previous parts, the climbing felt good, even if countless deaths resulted from falls (mostly because I wanted to continue too quickly).

    Graphics / staging

    Bombastic. Probably one of the nicest games I've played so far. The background, the individual characters and the whole game are staged fantastically. The jungle just looks amazing and is filled with some animals etc. Atmospherically it is completely correct, the sounds of the animals are also implemented very well (howler monkeys: D).

    In addition, the tombs and crypts give you a wonderful Tomb Raider feeling.

    Some pictures, moments or video sequences (e.g. jaguar scene or a certain scene in which Lara climbs out of the water, with the right skin the scene is goat) are simply incredibly well staged and astonish you.

    Conclusion

    I had 37 hours of real fun here and played an incredibly good Croft trilogy overall. The game does almost everything right for me and has entertained me very well. Ultimately, Lara's last appearance gets 9/10 treasures.    … Expand

    Shadow Of The Tomb Raider was advertised as being the grand finale to the trilogy of Lara Croft officially becoming the Tomb Raider... and it didn't really feel that way from a story or growth perspective. She's more or less the same from the last installment personality wise... meaning she doesn't have all too much of a personality which is a real shame when you consider the sheer amountShadow Of The Tomb Raider was advertised as being the grand finale to the trilogy of Lara Croft officially becoming the Tomb Raider... and it didn't really feel that way from a story or growth perspective. She's more or less the same from the last installment personality wise... meaning she doesn't have all too much of a personality which is a real shame when you consider the sheer amount of charisma from the original iteration of Lara. Anyway, I don't care about the story. It's okay, not a great way to end a trilogy but... like I said, I don't care about it.

    I care about the gameplay and I'm sorta mixed on it. It's got everything I loved about the first two games... but doesn't offer much more. There's a few new ways to navigate, some new weapons, a more refined crafting system and a heavier focus on stealth this time around but overall, it doesn't offer anything totally new. To be fair, I don't have a solution to this. I have no idea what they could add to these games to make them a little more refreshing and the problem is certainly only amplified by the fact that I played the entire trilogy in about a week. If I played these games upon their initial releases with years of time away from the series each time, I'd probably remember the whole experience a little more fondly.

    I obviously very much enjoyed all these games though, they make for very good platformers and are full of puzzles that are satisfying to complete. The combat isn't the strongest but as the series progresses, there are less and less combat sequences which I'm thankful for. The increased focus on platforming and puzzle solving paired with the added features easily would make this my go to Tomb Raider reboot game.

    If you're only gonna play one, play this one.

Very little combat, more stealth in contrast to Rise of the TR and less enemies by far. The previous game was much more like Uncharted. This game is very linear with limited free roam. I like the game, love the series. Traversal and combat areXbox One X is a game changer for this game. Looks stunning vs PS4 standard version. Gameplay, this is a light action and puzzle game. Very little combat, more stealth in contrast to Rise of the TR and less enemies by far. The previous game was much more like Uncharted. This game is very linear with limited free roam. I like the game, love the series. Traversal and combat are nearly identical to the previous 2 games. Much more NPC interaction which builds the story from an emotional connection standpoint but negatively impacts pacing.     The first game was truly awesome and perfect way to bring back the series from the grave. The sequel was even better although I did think it started off pretty slowly but got better as the game progressed. With this one it started off strong but slowly started to lose my interest. The gameplay is better than ever, the customization and leveling is deeper, the story feels more interesting and better written and the graphics are absolutely incredible. Seriously, I have played all the best looking games on PC and PS4 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider on PC is definitely among the top 5 best looking games. The exploration of tombs and puzzle solving is much better than the previous two games and is, perhaps, the best it's ever been in the series, period.

    Anybody saying this is the same as Rise of the Tomb Raider is talking out their you-know-what. There are more changes and improvements in this game than we got from one game to another in a certain other similar franchise that I won't name. Suffice to say, this game has evolved plenty and is a lot of fun to play.

    Oh and anybody claiming this looks worse than Rise of the Tomb Raider is either certifiably blind or just trolling. This game is a good leap above the last game in nearly every area of its graphical makeup.    … Expand

    This game was great, the game play was good, and the story was also good. The graphics look amazing, and this game is fun to play. However, stealth sections are a total pain, and most of them are not fun. Over all, great game, stealth sections suck though.

    Juego con una buena historia, técnicamente muy bueno y con muchos extras. Quizás peque de continuista pero me parece un buen cierre a esta trilogía. En cualquier caso no le vendría mal un descanso para renovarse

I selected 'At One With the Jungle' difficulty which was a decent challenge and tons more fun as it removes the 'white ledge' driven hint design that ruined many of the best puzzles in Rise by giving the solutions away cheaply. Shadow is more about exploration and Tombs than Rise, which was fine by me. It looks and sounds amazing and if you've got an HDR display it's reallyI loved it!     Camera control is horrible, bad lighting... is too easy to get lost or stuck in a completely black room cause you can’t see anything... I remember the other two games much more playable, this has serious control issues. Maybe the developers wanted us to remember how the first Tomb Raider moved?

    El peor de los tres pero muy buen juego. Tiene momentos geniales y algún altibajo. La exploración y los puzzles son geniales tiene un regusto a tomb raider clásico. Mi puntuación es 8.5 le pongo nueve por considerarlo más cerca del sobresaliente que del notable. Por último, he de destacar el poder jugar a 60 frames en xbox one x y el excelente doblaje al castellano.

Ранее она писала сценарии для дополнений к Ассасину: Чёрному флагу про чернокожего бывшего раба и могло бы быть интересно, если бы был талант, но в наше время талант ничто - лояльность всё:(.
    Почему я считаю, что было давление феминисток? Потому что абсолютно все мужики в игре либо тупые, либо никчёмные, либо трусливые, либо всё вместе, а женщины и воюют и вопросы решают и правят… просто «идеальный» мир, прямо как в Horizon Zero Dawn.
    Разработчики тоже выдохлись и наклепали скучные однотипные локации, не привнеся ничего нового в игровой процесс и даже умудрились убрать ряд элементов из прошлой части, то есть игра деградировала в плане левелдизайна и геймплея.
    Вкупе с ужасным тупейшим сценарием и главной героиней, которую превратили в безвольное ноющее создание без харизмы - мы получили самую унылую часть второго перезапуска. Надеюсь это конец и серию либо опять перезапустят, основательно обновив всё, либо окончательно похоронят, потому что эта часть уже блеклая тень прошлой спорной игры, и ещё одну я просто проигнорирую!
    С очень большой натяжкой 6 из 10 - только хорошей по скидке! Я прошёл в Game Pass и удалил, так что денег не потерял:)    … Expand

    Beyond the horrific combat is bad stealth. While you can start out stealthy and the game strongly recommends it because, after all, you're not a combat person, it never ends that way. As soon as you kill anyone (because you have to on every level in order to move on) you leave the body behind. Then somebody finds it, they immediately notify everyone else and within seconds no matter where you are at they find you and kill you. One person you could in theory take out fast enough but while you're taking out the 2nd of 6+ men the rest surround you and kill you within seconds. Reload. Try a different stealth, same thing happens, reload. How is this at all fun??

    The traversal system, which should be the highlight of the game, is just plain bad. It is really glorified QTE events that if you fail you die. The traversal system never makes you feel like an accomplished climber, it just feels like button mashing. And you can't even climb most things. You can only climb exactly what the designers wanted you to. On many occasions I couldn't clear a wall at waist level but I could jump from one cliff to another. It is sad to say but AC has a better (even buggy) climbing system.

    The historical aspect is cool but given the horrible mission designs, stupid combat and broken traversal system this is just the worst of a quickly diminishing series. If you are remotely interested in just the tomb raiding/historical side then forget this game. It simply isn't worth the bad design.

    Finally, the fact that every time you quit for the night and then resume the next day it kicks you back to the main menu is unacceptable in this day and age. Every Xbox game should support resuming. If you can't then your game is simply lazy. There are far heavier games that have no problem with this so this is just plain unrealistic in the modern game world.    … Expand

    Played all Tomb Raider games and I have to say, this one is my favorite. Feels more like Assassin's Creed now with a TON of stuff to do. Great open world with gorgeous graphics. Puzzles are great and I heard the DLC is actually great as well. A must play titile.

Sinceramente es muy satisfactorio. - Si te gusta la historia    Después de completarlo puedo decir que es el peor Tomb Raider que he jugado hasta la fecha, muy por debajo de sus dos predecesores en esta última trilogía (sobre todo el primero de ellos).

    CONTRAS:
    - Historia realmente plana que parece dirigida a un público infantil. No entraré en spoilers, pero hay escenas "dramáticas" en las que solo de ver la cara de estreñida de Lara y las absurdas escenas en las que quieren expresar pesar te hace reirte y te saca completamente de la historia. Mención aparte a los momentos WTF por conveniencia del guión, sin ninguna lógica narrativa.
    - Misiones secundarias totalmente descartables, hechas bajo el mismo patrón de "recadero" (Ve allí y habla con tal, lleva esto al señor X, etc). MUY aburridas.
    - Diseño de personajes. Menos los poquísimos personajes principales, los demás están hecho bajo el mismo patrón, incluso la mayoría son exactamente iguales. Se nota que fue un proyecto "a medio hacer", terminado a prisa y con mucha desgana.
    - Fallo de sonidos constantes, cuchilladas que suenan 4 segundos después, ceses repentinos de todo el sonido ambiente, música de "presencia enemiga" que salta sin enemigos.

    En resumen, juego aceptable si te lo alquilas, te lo deja un amigo o te viene incluido en alguna suscripción de juegos. Si no tuviera el nombre de Tomb Raider detrás tendría mucho peor puntuación tanto de prensa como de usuarios. Se me hizo pesado de terminar, y la historia le perdí el interés un poco antes de la mitad. Rise of TR (2015) was much better game if you enjoy puzzles, platforming and exploration but still there was too much shooting for me. The rest i enjoyed very much, even fighting (not always stealth) :) New swimming mechanic and underwater locations with claustrophobic passages are great. Overall atmosphere created by music (I love the sountrack), graphics and narration was the very consistant and left me with nostalgia :) Very good ending for this trilogy, I will miss it trilogy much more than I expected.… Expand

    I pre-ordered Shadow of the Tomb Raider Croft Steelbook Edition and picked it up a few days before the release date of 9/14/18. I enjoyed it for about a week, then lost interest completely. It seemed like too much to do, it overwhelmed me, and it felt like a chore to collect everything in sight. Almost everything had an X to pick it up. Almost everything had an X to pick it up. The map was cluttered with soooo many collectibles and places to explore. Plus, it seemed like this game was 99% puzzles and exploration and very little combat. I needed something simple, scary and fun (with Halloween approaching) so I started playing Doom, some RE games and so on. A few days before Christmas I reluctantly decided to give SOTTR another shot, after all, I paid over $100 for it. Wow… I’m glad I did because what seemed like a chore and “too much” before turned into a massively fun and exciting game. The abundance of exploration and stuff to collect became fun and challenging. I liked the new mechanics and story. Today is 1/17/19 and I’m at 92%, and I’ve played it a lot since Christmas so that’s how much content there is. Not to mention all the DLC (extra tombs) that I keep getting due to having the season pass. Story-wise I’m at the point of no return that leads you to the final ending. I avoid finishing the story until I get everything else that I can possibly get.

    My only big gripe are the outfits. There are many of them, maybe too many. Some give advantages, and some are just cosmetic without advantages. There’s a lot of reading involved to know what is what. It reminded me of the clothing perks in BioShock infinite. A lot of mixing and matching. There are 2 outfits that require a lot of jaguar fur and while I have fought a few jaguars in the story, I don’t have nearly enough jaguar fur to craft the remaining 2 outfits. I have searched for respawning jaguars in the open world but none respawn. This includes the areas marked on the map with the jaguar symbols indicating they should respawn, but thus far they haven’t. If these 2 outfits keep me from obtaining 100% like I achieved in the 1st 2 games, that will suck. But I’ll keep the faith that a couple of jag’s will respawn at some point, so I can finish up the outfits.

    A small gripe is the lack of combat, but it picks up as you keep playing. I’d like to see a little more of it though, since there is a lot of upgrading weapons and such.

    Do I recommend buying this game? Yes! Just hang in there and keep playing. I hope it wins many people over like it eventually did for me. There’s a ton of content and I’m having a blast! 9 out of 10…    … Expand

    La verdad es que el juego aun siendo correcto ha resultado ser muy decepcionante. El juego no aporta casi nada que no hiciera cualquiera de los anteriores juegos. En definitiva no es mal juego pero no ha dado ninguna sorpresa como si dieron los 2 anteriores juegos.

    I also found the quest overview and menu system clunky, difficult to navigate (non-intuitive), and unhelpful. After finishing the main questline, there was little to no incentive to keep playing, as I had not been encouraged to immerse myself with the secondary characters.
    At the 'normal' difficulty, the game is too easy. At the higher difficulties, you basically just die too easily - everything else is the same (but you don't have to listen to Lara repeat the same thing over and over).
    I enjoy replaying games - but this is not one I will readily revisit. I'd much rather play either of the older games than go through this one again. It'll collect dust next to Andromeda on my shelf.    … Expand

    At the time of this writing I have completed the main campaign and most of the side activities – I am sitting around 96% completion.

    I was a big fan of the original two games of the reboot so I did something I don’t often do – I preordered SotTR. While I don’t regret this, SotTR is easily the worst of the reboot trilogy and I can’t recommend it at full price. Let’s start with what’s    At the time of this writing I have completed the main campaign and most of the side activities – I am sitting around 96% completion.

    I was a big fan of the original two games of the reboot so I did something I don’t often do – I preordered SotTR. While I don’t regret this, SotTR is easily the worst of the reboot trilogy and I can’t recommend it at full price.

    Let’s start with what’s good. I played this game on an Xbox One X with a 4K television and I have to say it is gorgeous. It is definitely one of the best looking games of this generation. Unfortunately that is the only stand out thing this game has going for it.

    The main story is mediocre at best (I really wish this series had better writing) and some parts are just dumb, even for the genre. There were a number of times when I would roll my eyes and think (for example) “really, no one else realized that wall was hollow” – or something to that effect. The story is also hampered by the inclusion of hub areas. While it is cool they tried to add something new, all these areas succeed at doing is bringing the gameplay to screeching halt. Honestly – there are stretches of this game where it feels like a walking simulator, and that isn’t hyperbole. You spend a lot of time walking around one hub area in particular while forced to wear a specific outfit and with limited access to your gear. Sure, you can fast travel elsewhere and do some exploring but there is no avoid these long boring sequences if you want to progress through the campaign.

    It is also worth mention that you can pick up side-quests in these hub areas and I have to say they are awful. The writing is down-right cringe-worthy and even the way you interact with NPCs feels like something from gaming 15 years ago. It really is very poorly done.

    This game was marketed as being action based and I was excited for that. Finally Lara unleashed so to speak, but this game actually has less combat than previous titles and that is fact – not opinion. The combat that was there was fun and well done though, but brings little new to the series.

    I also have to mention that I died far more often than in previous title due to the controls in set pieces not being as tight as they could have been. That could be user error, but I did not have this problem in the previous two titles.

    If you are a Lara fan you are still going to want to play this – just wait for a decent sale.    … Expand

    Favorite Character

    This is entire trilogy may be about Lara Croft but the best character continues to be Johah. The problem with Lara in this trilogy is, she is so focused on her goals that she can come off as self-centered. Now if you played the games you know she is much more complicated than that. She is just very focused on the big picture. Jonah is the opposite of that, he’s looking out for the little guy, he’s very friendly and ultimately very likable.

    Puzzles

    The best part about this game is the puzzles. There are 9 main story puzzles that you have to complete but then there are also 8 additional challenge tombs. I didn’t pay attention too much to the main story puzzles but I do know each challenge tomb took me about a half hour to complete so they were a good mental challenge. It should also be noted that I am not the brightest person so depending on the person the time will vary.

    Gameplay

    The gameplay continues to somewhat solid but if I am comparing this game to Rise of the Tomb Raider, I would say that the gameplay is less polished.

    The bow still feels great, the gunplay does not feel great though. Use the bow for 95% of the game, don’t use the guns.

    The stealth is very good in this game, its good stealth where if you get caught it’s not game over. As a matter of fact, the Stealth is very forgiving where if you’re caught it’s not hard to get back into stealth mode. Some people may look at this as a negative but for me personally, I think easier stealth is always better.

    The other major aspect is the climbing and traversal and this is the part that feels the least polished to me. I died so many times, just climbing traversing around. It’s not a case where I died because the platforming was particularly difficult, it was more because inputs wouldn’t be read or she would jump the wrong way. Little B.S. things that make you say, “well that was fair.” It always became much more exasperated in the games major set pieces. First off, there were far too many of them and secondly, I would die far too often. The best part of set pieces is if it works then its cinematic gold but when you keep dying and seeing the same thing over and over again. It ruins the moment and I died multiple times in every set piece so I would have to sit there and experience each set piece a minimum of 3 times each.

    Bosses

    Pretty forgettable bosses, I do remember early on you end up fighting Jaguars which is fun but then I don’t remember any bosses until the final boss. The final boss is okay and that’s how I would describe this entire game. It’s okay.

    Mission/Level Design

    One thing I have always liked about this franchise is, it strikes the perfect balance between open world and linear. As you progress through the story, you unlock little open world areas that are all connected but it never feels overwhelming. I just remember last year playing Assassins Creed: Origins and saying “this is too much”.

    Music/Sound Design/Voice Acting

    Lara’s and Jonah’s voice is excellent. After that, it does start to get questionable.

    The music itself is definitely tailored to more ambient sounds where there is music but it’s not noticeable or distracting.

    Out of the last 3 games in the Tomb Raider reboot this is my favourite of the 3, i really enjoyed playing through it. I played on the Xbox One X and the graphics look brilliant. The sound is also good, very atmospheric. Some of the levels gave me a real nostalgic feel as they felt just like old Tomb Raider levels back in the 90's games. The feeling of squeezing my way through a tight cave to suddenly reach a big beautiful tomb surrounded by masses of open space and water wondering where on earth i have to start just reminded me so much of the old Tomb Raider games. However in this game you have choices on how to play. You can go old skool and not ask the game for help. Or you can ask the game to help and point you in the right direction. The choice is yours. You also have options to select how hard enemies are, puzzles are, way points are etc. You can set each of them up individually as you wish. For example. If you want hard puzzles and easy combat, you can select this. Or if you want easy puzzles and hard combat, you can select that too. Personally i set everything to just above medium and turned off all the navigational help and tips. These are real nice features to have. The gameplay is a good mix of tomb raiding and exploration like older games. There are also huge safe areas bristling with life where you can chat to all the locals, trade and sell equipment and ammo, clothes etc, or explore and find hidden trinkets and such. Or you can just ignore all that and go straight to your story missions. There are also some big action sequences like in the last 2 games. Some combat segments where you can use stealth or go in all guns blazing. Alot of under water segments in this one. Some beautiful open waters to real tight claustrophobic segments that make you panic. Everything is well spaced out throughout the game. You also have lots of extra challenge tombs along the way. These are basically side quests but they work well, especially if you like raiding and solving puzzles. Puzzles are also well done. While still not as hard as the original games, they are well done. And you can turn off all help and tips to make things harder for yourself. The story is also quite good and well done but i won't spoil that for you. Enemies are nice and varied. From leopards, piranhas, giant conger eels, various soldiers ranging from easy grunts to hardened soldiers with armour and better weapons than the easy grunts. There are also, i'm not sure what they are, kinda like mutated animal humans like in the movie The Descent. Pretty gruesome creepy, savage creatures. Quite a bit of the game has a dark and gruesome tone. And the atmosphere, sound and art direction play a big role in that. It is very well done. Then some levels are outright charming. Like getting to play Lara as a little girl at Croft Manor and meeting her parents. The only gripes i had with the game are minor. I don't like Camilla Luddington voicing Lara, because even though Camilla was born in Britain she was raised in America and has an American accent. Her British accent holds for the most part but sometimes her American accent slips through. It took me a little while to get used to the underwater controls. In the last game Lara had cool glow sticks when exploring and they looked brilliant in HDR. This time she has just a basic chest torch. It still looks good though. I just prefered the cool glow sticks. HDR is another thing that looks good here. Especially if you have an HDR premium TV. I encountered just 1 bug where a character Jonah lost both his arms for about a minute. I think this has since been patched now though. Quite surprised i only encountered 1 bug. Normally modern games have quite a few bugs that need to be ironed out. But Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a very polished game from start to finish. It took me a week to complete btw. Don't know how many hours as i wasn't clock watching, i was too busy enjoying the game. I played every night for a week though.… Expand

The jungle environment is the best setting of all the tomb raider games is utilised poorly and really only the first third of the game was interesting as you were really invested in making it out of the jungle alive with hungry jaguars. Lara Croft caused a chain of disasters but you were only invested in the first disaster of the tsunami but the game forgot to show Lara Croft fighting a volcano or an earthquake which would of made the game awesome, and once again why did they not show LARA'S FREAKIN' DOUBLE PISTOLS IN THE FINAL GAME! What a wasted opportunity!!!!. However this game gets high marks on its combat system which is polished to perfection and the beautiful scenery. This game is just like Batman Arkham Knight closing the trilogy of with a certainly good game but in a disappointing fashion.… Expand

    - My inventory was full for almost the whole playthrough even though I upgraded all my weapons and crafted all the costumes I found.

    For me the game was a disappointment. It's really beautiful but boring gameplay drags it down. If you're a fan of the series or the genre, grab it from a sale.    … Expand

    Generally I think it is a good game. I enjoyed playing it. I feel there are certain aspects that can be improved. I would recommend the game but I also have suggestions on approaching the game.

    I don’t have any problems with the storyline. It’s not cluttered, not confusing and not too lengthy. It was well thought out. I did not have to play the first two games to figure out what is going on. Generally satisfying storyline with good buildup, good flow and good ending.

    The characters complement the storyline. Lara is not straight up full of conviction. She doubts herself and is somewhat conflicted. Those traits do make her more relatable and endearing. We also see multi-dimension in the antagonist Dominguez. He has Paititi’s interest at heart, just his methods are too extreme. It was saddening when Unuratu died. It was particularly heartbreaking when Jonah was supposedly killed.

    The character animation is top notch. Lara is beautiful. Jonah wouldn’t be as lovable if he doesn’t look the way he does. Characters aside, the environments depicted are also breathtaking. From the lush jungles to the lively towns and cities to the dark and appropriately claustrophobic caves and tombs, everything was meticulously detailed. I love it.

    Exploration in the game is really fun. Lara has the skill set befitting of a tomb raider. What spoils the fun is how inconsistent the game behaves when Lara is executing these moves. One moment she can do it. Reload the game, do the exact same thing and this time she falls to her demise. The inconsistencies and luck factor have to be removed. Apart from all that, I think the game excels in allowing me to live out my fantasy of venturing into caves and tombs; something I consider too dangerous to do in real life.

    I generally dread combat in the game. In the Deadly Obsession difficulty, the best, if not the only approach towards combat is stealth. Sadly, stealth, like exploration, is inconsistent and therefore unreliable. It is not broken because you can eventually stealth your way to victory. For the number of tries you need to succeed, you could actually be doing the same things. Just the outcomes are different and you would be wondering why. Stealth could be improved to be more robust to improve the overall combat experience. As for the fights that provide no option to go stealth, I would say I am not a big fan of the idea of Rambo Lara singlehandedly going up against military trained Trinity soldiers or even the Yaaxil.

    With how dreadful combat is, I do enjoy the missions and tombs where no combat is involved. The challenge tombs are so fun and challenging. The puzzles are very well thought out and executed.

    I do not recommend the Deadly Obsession difficulty. What makes the difficulty broken is the fact that the game only saves at base camps. I wasted a lot of time getting to the hard parts rather than dealing with the hard parts. Using time wastage to achieve a certain level of difficult is a terrible idea. I don’t understand how game developers can confuse challenging with time consuming.

    Doesn't take very long to complete, and not much of end game. Wait for it to come out on special.

    Really well done, not too many mandatory gun fights which I personally find takes away from the Roots of Lara Croft. Story is very intriguing and the world is full of things for you to do (especially if you love hunting for collectibles). Not to mention it looks stunning ALL of the time.

It all sounds compelling when you listen to those who worked on the game describe it and I saw what they were referring to in my playthrough, but again they were only hints, which was really unsatisfactory. The final boss battle was almost laughable in its simplicity. Really, that was the conclusion to a 3 game AAA arc? I felt let down, similar to how the ending to Mass Effect 3 made me feel. Much of the game has also not evolved since the first in the series came out. It was amazing back then but left me wondering what took so long to produce this game if they just relied so heavily on what they already had from previous games. I agree with the professional reviewers that the jumping felt super floaty and unrealistic. The AI for the enemies was really dumb. I always had to use survival instincts to tell whether the game though an enemy was in sight of others or not because it did not follow common sense. What drove me to great frustration, however, was repeated failures in platforming due to lack of refinement in the response to controls. I jump from a ledge and throw out my rope to grapple onto a ledge and fall to my death. In the same spot. Over and over and over. I do seemingly nothing different, and it catches. This was right at the end game when I'd already gotten a good handle on the controls but all my trust in the system and my immersion in the game were shattered.
    I really wanted to like this game, and there were definitely aspects of it that I did, but mostly I was compelled to finish by a sense of duty to the overall story more than enjoyment of the game itself.    … Expand

Luckily, you can break line of sight and hide but still, the combat should have been improved. The stories have always been great but this time around it was very generic and uninteresting. It was by the numbers and at some points it didn't make sense. Graphically, the game looks amazing and runs well. I played on a 4K HDR tv and I had no issues. I think this franchise should take a break and come back when they have a great story to tell and a studio that is willing to fix the issues that have been present since the first game in 2013.… Expand

    There are different mechanics this time around and these different mechanics feel great and definitely add an extra dimension to the game. The gunplay could be a little better because it doesn’t always make an impact and it doesn’t always feel as responsive and fluid as it should. Rise of the Tomb Raider was my game of the year back in 2015 because everything about it was pretty much perfect and in my opinion it made Tomb Raider relevant and exciting again. As you can imagine then Shadow of the Tomb Raider was a game I was extremely looking forward to, and thankfully it didn’t disappoint. From the moment I started the game I fell in love with it because the game looks and sounds incredible and it immersed me right from the get go. This immersion didn’t dwindle either and that was thanks to the excellent story that accompanies the awesome visuals and sound design. You’ll also be pleased to know that the gameplay is also absolutely fantastic and the new mechanics that have been implemented make the game stand out even more. In terms of problems the game only has one in my opinion and that is the gunplay. This though is only a very small problem and everything else is basically perfect so I can’t recommend Shadow of the Tomb Raider enough.     *I noticed this in the original TR 1st reboot game..the playing about is missing & it's onto the next part..
    ***I would play around in Skyrim,,MetalGearSolicV,,Farcry,,ShadowWar/Mordor for days ignoring progressing the story. FOR FUN..it's fun to sidequest & level you're character without even trying.....

    ***this game is 1/2 the game Rise of was & that screams CASH GRAB..if it's not a cash Grab then something MassEffect Andromeda like is wrong @ CrystalDynamics..

However, everything in between; the side quests, hunting, the bombardment of collectables, are less inspired.

    I realised about half through that i was getting caught up in activities that were ruining my experience of the game as a whole. All of which offered little benefit in progressing through the main campaign. The items and skills that i acquired were never necessary to proceed (very little use of the stealth and combat mechanics). It had ruined the pacing, or i had ruined the pacing. Either way my play through was damaged. This is without noting the bugs that often halted progress.

    I wanted to love this game, but I felt that there was so much tapped-on stuff for the sake of more stuff, i couldn't. Its still a good game though, with a mildly interesting narrative, the best puzzles in the series, and some really remarkable set-pieces. Always visually stunning.     Since 90s, Lara Croft became for me much more than just a game character. Lara - is a phenomenon which changed the whole game industry. As a huge Tomb Raider fan I finished all the games ever existed (including GB and even DVD interactive games :DDDD ), and that fact that Lara is "still alive" and developers are sill working on series - makes me fell that our World needs this charismatic British lady. Probably my personal opinion is a prejudgment because, as I said, I am a big fan of Lara, but that goes sincerely from my heart)

    Dark and dirty but also full of fun and discovery, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is rife with jungle mysteries, embellished history, gratifying puzzles and Lara Croft's personal struggles. With more open world exploration, more climbing, more tombs and more options for combat, it's a familiar but improved adventure and a gripping conclusion to the trilogy.
