Long time reader, first time reviewer. Stay clear of this game. It just released yesterday on Nintendo Switch (for $7.99) and somehow, despite it being November, 2017, it fails to have even a fraction of the depth of the 1980s arcade game it's so clearly influenced by.

Nintendo should be ashamed of itself for even allowing this on the eShop. - The physics are a joke. - The muzak is

    - The physics are a joke.
    - The muzak is anything but the rock music the stated in the description.
    - There is no online multiplayer.
    - One can scarcely tell their car from the others on a 65-inch television.
    - There are no power-ups, no upgrades, no obstacles.
    - There are no sound-effects. Not even the sound of your car's engine.

The game is good for one thing though. It's taught me to never, EVER, buy another game without checking Metacritic first.

A potentially very fun racer, dragged down into unplayability by some absolutely awful (and lazy) design choices. The controls are beyond bad, and it's very easy to lose track of your vehicle in the pack - even on a huge HDTV. Don't like the supremely annoying announcer? Your choice is to mute all the effects or put up with him. Don't like the (absurdly long) race intros? With its minimal content and cars that prove impossible to control, Rock 'N Racing Off Road DX butchers the arcade action that Super Off Road perfected in the ‘90s.

Too many defects and bad design decisions hinder what could otherwise have been a funny game.

If you want a fun arcade racing game like this, I say stick to Super Off Road. The fact I’m suggesting playing an NES game over a current generation game says it all.
