    Due to some of the disappointing releases the last year or so, I was really hoping for a good Resident Evil 2 remake. And this is exactly what I hoped for and more. Capcom did a great job at staying faithful to the original, while employing fresh, new graphics and mechanics. If you were a fan of the original, or are a fan of the series, OR even just a survival horror fanatic, this is theDue to some of the disappointing releases the last year or so, I was really hoping for a good Resident Evil 2 remake. And this is exactly what I hoped for and more. Capcom did a great job at staying faithful to the original, while employing fresh, new graphics and mechanics. If you were a fan of the original, or are a fan of the series, OR even just a survival horror fanatic, this is the game for you. You will not be disappointed. Anybody can enjoy this release.… Expand

    Últimamente Capcom nos ha impresionado con el nivel de empeño que le dan a sus juegos (no es secreto que es la mejor compañía en cuanto a criticas) y con Resident Evil 2 solo puedo decir que han creado una autentica "Obra Maestra". Desde el diseño de escenarios, muy nostálgicos pero con tintes de ser novedosos, un ambiente lúgubre que te hace recordar el horror de no saber que esta a puntoÚltimamente Capcom nos ha impresionado con el nivel de empeño que le dan a sus juegos (no es secreto que es la mejor compañía en cuanto a criticas) y con Resident Evil 2 solo puedo decir que han creado una autentica "Obra Maestra". Desde el diseño de escenarios, muy nostálgicos pero con tintes de ser novedosos, un ambiente lúgubre que te hace recordar el horror de no saber que esta a punto de pasar, una banda sonora que recordaras bastante tiempo y por supuesto no se diga mas de su jugabilidad, en verdad han logrado darle a este titulo un remake estupendo y merecido. 10/10… Expand

    The best horror game with actual REAL GAMEPLAY, non of that hide and seek garbage! This game is fantastic, buy it! Graphics, sound design and atmosphere are excellent, the best Resident Evil game by far.

    Action over the shoulder game that have nothing to do with the original, they changed the plot, the core gameplay, the characters and they decided to add a ridiculous voice acting, plagued with stupid words and WAY TOO MUCH unnecessary swearing, every time that the fake Leon shoots his gun he has to throw a random curse, even going against religious people. Zombies and enemies in general are way too strong, 15-20 bullets to kill a zombie and 5 shotgun shells + 5 pistol bullets ro kill a damn licker... pathetic and unfair. The pistol looks like a toy gun, like you are shooting a bb gun at best. Zombies won't even die with a shotgun blast. This game is not hard, it is just way too annoying. The over the shoulder is awful, poorly implemented, the fixed camera angles and tank controls were amazing and they fit so well with a true survival horor game. of course this one has barely nothing of survival horror. Puzzles are a joke, way too easy to figure out, the game commits the worst sin that is to insult and destroy the legacy of the original re 2, spitting in the face to old and real RE 2 fans.… Expand

    Another idiotic spin-off no one asked for, praised by paid reviews and giveaways so as clueless idiots who didn't play the original or simply lack of attention to realize what is it in front of them. RIP Capcom, our home of your comeback fell flat once again and you managed to chase away the fans who built you. Congrats on that and once again RIP.

    Great game incredibly short. What you get is 5 hours worth of content, game lasts 10 hours maximum and 50% of that is running through the same rooms over and over. There is no replay value what so ever. It is fun but just not worth the money.

Phenomenal graphics that look way better than the RE 2 Remake, a phenomenal soundtrack, and an unrivaled ambiance that still hold's up beautifully.

    If you like zombie movies, you'll love this game. Otherwise, stay away. The atmosphere is relentlessly dark and horrific, and the best you can hope for is to decapitate numerous humanoid creatures with the most realistic gore imaginable.

    Awesome graphics, but game mechanics are quite ancient and difficult. The mechanics are not by far close to the best games that have come out within the last decade or so. Way too many cut sequences where you are just forced to watch a ”movie”.

I also only died 20 times in my first play-though, which i didn't feel was that bad, and yet i was reminded on numerous occasions that i could lower the difficulty; thanks for patronising me Capcom.

    I cannot give in to the charm of the RE universe; the cheesy dialogue, over-the-top tales surrounding an ominous corporate entity, complete lack of characterisation (okay, this is just a criticism). I will give RE2 its dues nonetheless, as there is some true, tense horror to be had, with sequences and moments that are genuinely gratifying.    … Expand

    Previamente le había puesto un 7 sobre 10, pero luego de darle otra oportunidad le he subido el puntaje, sigo pensando que se le da demasiado mérito a este juego cuando lo más destacable es el apartado técnico, aún así es un remake muy bueno, solo después del remake del primer Resident Evil.

While not a straight ten, it gets very close. The combat feels good, very good even, and because of that I wish the weapons were a little better (for example the ridiculous rate of fire of the VP70M, 2100 RPM reduced to circa 400), I canIt's a great game, tense atmosphere, has lots of content, looks and runs great on old hardware (easily one of the more fluid games on the Xbox One S). Also a few more models would've been nice. And a slightly more complex injury system, right now it's -1 on most hits, out of 3, with a blue herb I think you can take twice that. I'm not talking about a major rework, with field surgeries, but some minor improvements, like for example regular zombies varying in damage from 0.5 to 2, depending on your movement speed, distance, the speed of the zombie itself. Very retro and old school fans will definitely love it, same with new fans, but it feels very dated and could've been done better.

    It is a dream for me, original RE2 was one of my all time favorite, this is a master piece, extremelly well done remake, I love the ambientation here, totally recommended

    Mr X is a cheap and annoying method of delivering scare
    Each campaign is very small and repetitive
    No street/alley exploring in main campaign (come on! Where is Raccoon City?)
    Where are the huge F***ing Spiders?
    Or any new type of enemies?
    Lack of variety between the campaigns

    I did enjoy the ride but I did find it slightly missing the sweet spot of modern gaming.
    Sure it was close, oh so close, but just missed being epic.

    A esto le llamo un Rameke , crear un juego desde cero pero manteniendo la historia y la sensación de estar jugando por primera ves este titulo, en mi persona, nunca habia jugando este titulo en mi vida, pero una historia que te mantiene en el suspenso y el miedo, un gameplay muy fácil de acomodarse y adaptarse para poder combatir con las ordas de Zombies, y el apartado grafico de lo mejor,A esto le llamo un Rameke , crear un juego desde cero pero manteniendo la historia y la sensación de estar jugando por primera ves este titulo, en mi persona, nunca habia jugando este titulo en mi vida, pero una historia que te mantiene en el suspenso y el miedo, un gameplay muy fácil de acomodarse y adaptarse para poder combatir con las ordas de Zombies, y el apartado grafico de lo mejor, esto es si ponerse a trabajar en un titulo exitoso para darle una nueva actualización con las consolas actuales y no solo trasladar por completo el juego original con muy pocas mejoras visuales.… Expand

    The hype for this game was really high before and some time after this game released. A remake of one of the most loved titles of the Resident evil franchise was a great new for fans and people who wanted to get introduced to the saga. Gamers welcomed the game really well and was a success. However, despite the undeniable quality of the game, it has been overrated.

    When we pass the game for the first time, we feel gratefully surprised and with a sensation of satisfaction that makes us to want more and more, and luckily there is actually more; a second storyline and more hours of play are waiting for us. However, is beyond this point were the things start not to fix at all. The map is almost the same and there are many parts of the script that do not respect the story we played first. So basically there is a notorious conflict between the events of both character's narratives.

    To sum up, Resident Evil 2 Remake is a refreshing and upgraded view of the original version of the game. Graphics are stunning, sounds are great and the gameplay is fun and gripping. However, the fact that developers recycled almost completely the game for the second run makes us feel that the rest of the time we can spend playing the game is just more of the same, creating a feeling of repetition and confusion.    … Expand

    I approached this game as someone who only discovered they quite like horror games with the evil within series and then resident evil 7. The only resident evil games I've played are 5 and 7 both of which I enjoyed in their own rights. I had never played the original of this particular game.

    Taken as a 2019 game I found it to be superb, thoroughly modern in feel and mechanics, and superb    I approached this game as someone who only discovered they quite like horror games with the evil within series and then resident evil 7. The only resident evil games I've played are 5 and 7 both of which I enjoyed in their own rights. I had never played the original of this particular game.

    Taken as a 2019 game I found it to be superb, thoroughly modern in feel and mechanics, and superb looking, with excellent use of lighting and sound to create tension. Well paced, fair, and always tense, the game balances enjoyment and stress very well, punctuating high stress moments with a short respite to enjoy the surroundings and consider the various low effort puzzles. The gun play is enjoyable and the damage models on the zombies is superb, the only slightly frustrating element would be the tyrant as although not quite the threat he appears to be he does sometimes cause frustration during puzzle sections of the game.

    Overall although I did not find the setting to be quite as captivating as that in the evil within series I thoroughly enjoyed both play campaigns of this game, talking of which although similarities obviously exist between campaign A and B (unlocked by completing A) they are unique enough to be well worth playing through, having finished A I was ready to jump straight back into B and I have a huge library of barely played steam games to attest to the fact that I bore easily.

    Highly recommended, Capcom are on a role, and it's nice to see one AAA publisher getting things right in the current climate.    … Expand

    I never played the original on Playstation, but i did get pretty far into Remake1. This game feels a lot like Remake only with better mechanics because of the third person shooting. Which makes it a lot more fun. Overall the atmosphere and everything feels great. It doesnt feel quite as atmospheric as Remake1 and, honestly with the new shooter mechanics, I would have liked to see just a little bit more action, I know thats not a popular opinion but thats how i feel, anyone who is not an RE oldschool veteran may feel the game a little dry. One other unpopular opinion is Mr X, I think his AI is a little too much at times, it feels like you cant even walk for more than a minute or two without immediately running into him, I wish he was just a little less close to you all the time, it makes the pacing a little odd compared to like Remake which you can take your time. Its definitely better than Re7 though, and overall I have a lot of fun.… Expand

    Gameplay ottimo, grafica davvero degna di nota e tutte le emozioni del classico survival horror sono state servite in questo remake ottimo.

    Este juego se siente fiel al original, podríamos pensar que conservador ya que se experimentan las mismas sensaciones, pero comparándolo se puede ver que es una propuesta    RE2 Remake tenía una tarea difícil por delante, su juego original es considerado una obra maestra por muchos y después de tantos años el cariño, recuerdos y sentimientos que despertó tienen un peso más que evidente.

    Este juego se siente fiel al original, podríamos pensar que conservador ya que se experimentan las mismas sensaciones, pero comparándolo se puede ver que es una propuesta valiente para cambiar, adaptar y mejorar todo el gameplay de la primera parte.

    Gráficamente espectacular, con un control preciso, muy buena localización al castellano y exigente si se quiere rejugar para conseguir todos los objetivos y coleccionables.

    Lo único achacable es el recorrido alternativo una vez superada la aventura. En el juego original la historia tenía más cinemáticas que aportaban cambios en las relaciones de los personajes, véase en la cara B de Leon en la escena en que Ada lucha contra Tyrant, que aquí no aparece.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Resident Evil 2 Remake

    First of all: I did not play the originals. I played through the remake of Resident Evil 2 in 18 hours and 37 minutes and achieved 560 gamerscore.

    story

    It's about the G-Virus and you discover more and more information about the G-Virus while playing. It's not a great storytelling now, but for me it is sufficient as a framework in the context of the game. I found it very nice that you can e.g. In Claire's campaign, the sequence with the child gave the whole game a new twist (orphanage). Here I would have liked a little more depth (more details about the experiments, the chief, etc.).

    I found another aspect really strong at the end of the first round of the game:
    you get a teaser for what to expect in the second round.

    Gameplay

    The game offers you two different campaigns and thus a change of perspective. The playthroughs with Leon and Claire feel at least sufficiently different when viewed separately. But I would have liked a more organic link in a remake (e.g. you had to open the doors with the chess pieces in the sewer system in the second pass, etc. and you wonder how Leon or Claire actually get to the end area). Apart from that, finding the way in the police station was very good, you have a lot to discover here. In terms of feeling, the second run is much more difficult.

    Then it gets exciting with Mr. X (nickname?), So Tyrant. He brings a pressure situation into play and his very specific gait contributes to the atmosphere. I liked it a lot and by skilfully evading and listening you can get around him very well.

    Furthermore, I found the bosses actually made cool: In the second campaign, I was still expecting Tyrant, but obviously he was actually almost split in two and killed. The professor's recurring mutation didn't bother me and was challenging enough (in the end, with Claire, I ran out of grenade launcher ammunition). I found the resolution of the teaser at the end very nice and it became cinematic again spectacular.

    Again, I found resource management negative. It's part of the game, but sometimes it just sucks to go back again and again because you have too much with you. You really have to plan ahead here, but that only interrupted my flow of the game. Also, some weapons are just too bad, despite various mods, and feel almost unusable (some pistols, I also didn't like the stun gun at all).

    Graphics / presentation / atmosphere

    The Resident Evil 2 Remake looks really good. It's awesome graphics and also creates a very threatening, gloomy atmosphere, but compared to Part 7 it doesn't bother me that much. It's just different.

    The game has a few cut scenes that fit well into the gameplay and the character portrayals are successful, only the facial expressions (e.g. with the scientist) are involuntarily funny, as well as the synchronization of Leon, which seems a bit inappropriate.

    Sound-wise, a good job was done and the right tone was always found.

    Conclusion

    Resident Evil 2 Remake does a lot of things right, but for me it doesn't knock Resident Evil 7 off the throne. In part 7 I liked the whole atmosphere better overall. I found it nice that you get a lot of activation options (skins, challenges, concept graphics, etc.). A total of 8/10 G viruses.    … Expand

    One of the best games of all time. Great package overall, beautiful graphics, great optimisation, so much content for a very low price. This is what survival horror is all about!

    In my opinion this is the best Resident Evil game. I've played this game so many times I pretty much have the entire map memorized in my head. The game plays so great, and it's always fun to go back and play through the game again. I do have a few issues about some cut enemies, but those are only minor nitpicks.

The boss fights are also extremely infuriating, with small arenas with huge bosses, coupled with limping, made them hell. Oh, and the sewers can go to hell, nothing else to say about that.     This is one of the best RE games I have played in a long time I honestly thought that after RE7 we would never get another good one but this has given me my love back for zombie games this had so much care put into sadly not for RE3 but so much for this game It had a propper horror feel to it that I didn't think they could pull off but they did solid 10/10

    Resident Evil 2 is a third person survival horror game, complete with puzzles, low resources and most importantly..

    Fear. Genuine fear.

    Playing through this game the first time was nerve wracking from the first cutscene to credits. Granted, I'm easily scared and have anxiety issues but I was not alone here in feeling legitimately scared while playing, not wanting to leave the safe rooms or progress into any unknown territory. It was all... an experience to say the least. One thing I will say that isn't in its favor is that upon subsequent playthroughs, that fear factor goes away quite a bit.

    The story is more or less a retelling of the original with one glaring issue. Leon and Claire's stories very seldom overlap in terms of interaction, but very often overlap in terms of location. There are times when Leon and Claire must have been in the exact same spot at the exact same time but the game fails to acknowledge this. This was my biggest problem with the game, the lack of consistency in continuity between both player's campaigns. This is especially bothering when you consider the original game didn't have this issue.

    Despite that glaring problem, the game is fantastic. It was my vote for game of the year 2019 until Death Stranding came around and I'm very excited to play the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 3.

    resident evil 2 is one of those games you want to like because everyone of your friends love it. but you really cant. the way i see it, the game has 95 percent puzzles, 4 percent action and maybe 1 percent horror. if you love puzzles, this game is great. if you dont, its not for you. the only reason i dont give this game 0/10 is because the story, the few cutscenes in between are good andresident evil 2 is one of those games you want to like because everyone of your friends love it. but you really cant. the way i see it, the game has 95 percent puzzles, 4 percent action and maybe 1 percent horror. if you love puzzles, this game is great. if you dont, its not for you. the only reason i dont give this game 0/10 is because the story, the few cutscenes in between are good and the graphics are great.

The last pro I want to talk about is that the police office is the best map in this game! But there's also one con which is probably not a big con. So this con is that nobody in the game can't jump, but I think that'd be unfair if main character just jumped over and went to some place! The last con is that the character can't normally run fast like run away from Mr. X, even though he's not that fast, but he can kill after his 2 hits!

    I played the original Resident Evil 2 game a few times thanks to a relative, but with the Remake, I loved it. It's the same game, just with new and improved areas to explore, new face upgrades, old references from the original game, and total hell getting S+ in Hardcore. I prefer the normal difficulty better to continue discovering more details of this gem.     I bought it to get scared, not to solve puzzle u idiot stupid devs! Absolutely hilarious. I am annoyed rather than being scared! And whats that tyrant **** following me everywhere? ****s not scary, ****s annoying. Stupid noobs dont even know how to make horror games. Absolute bull****.

Mr. X is done perfectly, the voice acting is good, and the graphics are great. This is a tense game and they really nailed the atmosphere.     An easy, tense, and solid action game. Doesn't takes itself seriously, isn't full of politics, and is generally as enjoyable as video games get. It is very very ugly on Xbox one X though, with blurry, muddy textures and it is pretty short and the writing is pretty poor and the world is not especially pretty or immersive. But the audio design, puzzles and general flow is fantastic.

Für Fans sei gesagt das Spiel fühlt sich Frisch an, es ist kein 1zu1 Remake, es ist fast ein Ganz neues Spiel geworden, und es macht einfach Spaß erneut in die Welt von Resident Evil 2 einzutauchen und soviel neues zu entdecken. Ton und Sprachausgabe sind großartig, ich habe es auf Deutsch gespielt, die Grafik sieht atemberaubend aus, besonders die tollen Details und das Leveldesign sind Hervorragend, auch die Story und Atmosphäre des Spiels sind einfach der Wahnsinn. Die Steuerung funktioniert hervorragend und die Kamera ist bis auf 2–3 Stellen auch nicht zu bemängeln, der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist erhöht worden, so können hier schon Standard Zombies gefährlich werden. Meine Erwartungen waren sehr hoch und die wurden sogar noch übertroffen. Capcom hat mehr als einen hervorragenden Job gemacht. Alles an diesem Remake wurde mit viel Liebe und Mühe fertiggestellt und sie haben das Original sehr gewürdigt und es gleichzeitig frisch gemacht.… Expand

    Resident Evil 2 is easily one of the best action games known to man. The atmosphere of this game features exactly the right amount of horror to not be too scary to play, but also not to disappoint. The story is exciting and interesting, and the gameplay feels real and makes you feel like you are a part of the game.

    I've played only a few games from the Resident Evil franchise, but out of all of them, this game is definitely one of the best. I haven't played the original version of this game, however, from what I seen this remake perfectly adipates what the original did and builds on it. I personally wasn't too scared of some of the things that happened in this game, but I can promise that it'll catch you off guard at least once or twice. Not only that, but there are other ways this game scares the player than just traditional jump scares or cutscenes. The game as to be expected plays nice, and the UI in this game is wonderful. If I were to say some cons about the game in general, is that it runs at 30fps. Personally, if a game can run at a base or above 30fps I'm fine, but I know people can get crazy about the framerates. Another thing to say, is while playing this game your Xbox will sound a little louder than it should. Other than those two minor issues, there isn't anymore. If I were to try and find anymore issues, it would really just be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Overall, a great game with a bunch of content, and some really good horror aspects.… Expand

    this game managed to make me hooked for hours and hours, with a good adaptation of the classic re2, with incredible graphics and gameplay, I recommend it to everyone

    This Resident Evil 2 doesn't replace or overwrite its source game in the way 2002's Resident Evil did, but that doesn't mean it's a bad remake. Rather, it's one of the best the medium has seen; amplifying the underlying horror and replayability at the core of the franchise. Capcom has outdone itself in an era where they're not hurting for successes. Not for the faint of heart, but a survival horror masterpiece nonetheless, Resident Evil 2 sets a standard for good horror, good action, and damn good game design.
