Don’t get me wrong there are still plenty of horror game’s out there for you to choose from but I just don’t think there as popular as they used to be. When it comes to horror game’s I can take them or leave them because even though I do like playing a good horror game every now and then I feel like I’ve seen and been scared by everything. Sometimes though there’s a game that manages to do certain things differently and if a very good story is included with the horror elements you end up having a very immersive experience. Remothered: Tormented Fathers does just that and to say the story had me hooked from start to finish would be a massive understatement because it really is very intriguing. Obviously a story wouldn’t be as intriguing if it didn’t have interesting characters and I’m pleased to say that this game has very interesting characters and the best thing is that each character feels like they matter. In terms of the gameplay within this game there are a few different elements in play at the same time. The most frequent of these elements though is its stealth action. If you don’t like stealth game’s then this game probably won’t be for you, but thankfully I am a fan of stealth sequences and I’m pleased to say that they’ve done justice when it comes to the stealth moments that have been implemented. I will say though that whilst the stealth moments have been done really well it can make the game a little bit difficult every now and then because one wrong move results in death so be prepared for a little bit of frustration every now and then. Thankfully though the puzzles that are in the game don’t cause you much frustration and whilst some of them are a little on the basic side I still enjoyed completing them. When completing these puzzles though you will have to deal with finnicky controls because interacting with certain objects can be a little bit imprecise, but thankfully at least they remain responsive at all times. Without a doubt one of my favourite things about this game was its presentation. Visually the game can look brilliant at times and when the visuals and excellent sound design combine together you end up experiencing a very eerie and memorable atmosphere, which is great because this does make the story come alive even more. At the end of the day as far as the horror genre is concerned Remothered: Tormented Fathers is an excellent addition to the genre. It has managed to do all the things you would expect from a horror game extremely well and when it’s all said and done this game gets a massive recommendation from me even if you only have a slight interest in horror games. The faults with Remothered lie predominantly in its storytelling, and the question of how important this is to a survival horror game is perhaps up for debate. One thing that is incontrovertible, though, is the fact that Darril Arts and Stormind Games have managed to create an experience in which players' every steps feel fraught with danger, as terror lurks around every corner. As a story, there a number of missteps, and things which are perhaps clumsily done, but as a horror experience it does a lot right. Provided the defects aren't hereditary, there's cause to be very excited about Remothered's progeny. Expand

Si, es un buen juego de terror, no el mejor de sus contemporáneos pero sí que funciona, aunque se siente bastante corto sobretodo si no tomamos en cuenta las cinemáticas, lo mejor es la historia en si junto al desenlace.

Its a horror game with more gameplay than most. Some of it works, some of it doesn't. The AI is quite dynamic for an indie title, with their movements difficult to predict. As is often the case, the unscripted moments that their constant stalking results in, is what typically leads to the best scares. Turning a corner to see an enemy just happening to be stood there caught me out a few times. However, many of the player's tools in these situations are awkward and clunky. Objects that distract often don't function as expected, and there is an overabundance of QTEs (which are always tedious). The level design is certainly unique, and the finding item/key to match the current requirement is functional at maintaining the pacing.

I think what stands from the game, is its commitment to its plot. There are many cut-scenes for such a short game but the writing and voice acting is often clumsy and naff. The plot as a whole is interesting enough, with pretty solid character development for the game's short duration; except for the protagonist, who mostly just screams, squeals and says "oh god!" repeatedly.

I think its a worthwhile horror experience but I feel that the developers tried to do too much in such a small game. This criticism applies to its gameplay and plot specifically.

What a mess. This game shares gameplay similarities to Amnesia: Dark Descent, and starts out quite atmospheric. It reminds me of Blumhouse films, because it has low production values, but also moments of improvisational inspiration. The final section of survival combat is so terrible it dropped the game another point. The ending was nonsensical melodramatic tripe about redemption. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Definitely the constant up and down levels in the begginning become monotonous , butt naked dude just not scary after awhile. I got a bit lost with the story rather complicated , confused where the Creepy nun comes into it since seems all about a mentally deranged family. Game sorta lost me ,why low rating. Expand

Remothered: Tormented Fathers is wasted potential. This is supposed to be the start of a trilogy, and hopefully the designers will learn from this mulligan and make something that has a bit more polish next time. Chris Darril's heart is in the right place, and he is proven to be a very capable game designer - the next effort just needs to be more carefully thought out and play-tested.

My only real complaint with Remothered is just that it would have been great if it were a bit longer. It tells a great overall story, but it felt like it could have been longer. Either way, the game is a definite pickup for survival horror fans that love hide and seek style horror gameplay.

Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a game that is almost ready to fill the classic horror experience gap, but the issues present are certainly hard to ignore. Should you be able to look past the misguiding sounds and horrendous movement mechanics, then you’ll still be able to find the essence of a quality horror story nestled deep within.
