I really had a lot of fun playing this small, but interesting game. Not bad combat system, nice music and a little bit of ancient gods story!

Tried playing it since it was on Game Pass, but couldn't force myself to finish it. Combat is terrible, story is nothing special and quite frankly boring, cut scenes are absolutely horrible and the whole game feels like a demo, which somehow went to prod.

there are too many games where we could explore different ancient civilizations and their mythologies, but the indian civilization wasn't one of them at all. I am glad that the developers built such an increadible indie game based on Indian mythology and culture.

A game that looks great. The places where the game takes place are like masterpieces. It was a lot of fun to play. I wish the controls were a little quicker to respond. Other than that, I did not see any problems in the game. With its story, atmosphere and the places it passes, it is a game that will both relax your soul and make you have a pleasant time.

Man, as an Indian I was excited to try this out. Extremely disappointing. The only thing they got right was the aesthetic and Hindu culture. This games’ outer shell is fantastic. It’s the inner core which is Meh at best. I can’t think of another word other than Meh.

A regular soap opera...Hindu style. The battles get tougher as the game goes on and I had to get killed many times in some before I finally figured out the winning strategy. The game could have used an occassional close up of Raji to show off her beauty, but for the most part you only view her at a distance. I enjoyed playing this game and of course it's always nice to make it all the way through. Expand

8/10 indie. Reminds me a lot of the gameplay from the PS2 era God of War games. Beautiful artwork and the story is narrated by the Hindu gods, which is pretty neat. All in all, it's good fun while it lasts as it's only about five hours long. Happy to support this team though. Great debut project from a studio in India.

Raji is a great attempt at showcasing a part of the world that is quite underexposed to the video game entertainment industry.
Raji is on point with Indian Mythology and bhajans in the background (the background music/chanting). The art style, the attention to detail even on the walls in the game are quite commendable.

I think one place where Raji can improve, as others have already pointed out is the gameplay itself. Having Autolock, A smoother combat, better upgrades and making the character more powerful/diverse as story progresses would have definitely helped this game.

Irrespective of what I said in the above paragraph, Raji is a seriously great attempt and one of the first to showcase a new culture in video games. That, by itself could have been very difficult and new to the gaming studio and I really appreciate all the hard work they poured in making this game.

Great game for such a small studio. Great artistic visual. Great story telling and interesting Hindu mythology explained (like a history lesson). Feels like a Prince of Persia AA game(indie game) rather than a full budget AAA but all in all a great game can't wait for the next game from this studio.

Combat can be improved with more fluid movement

Raji is a decent game to play - whilst nothing groundbreaking in it's mechanics, it plays well. The art style is unique and it runs on a storyline theme that you don't see all that often, based on Indian mythology and culture.

There are a few minor issues - camera angles for one can give a lack of accuracy when performing jumps (especially between hanging down branches / trees), and

Bosses are generic, forgettable and really, really repetitive with their move set and boring, expect the last one who'll just stun-lock you to death if you don't smash A fast enough to dodge his attack. Yes, you don't have to time your dodge at all like in any skill based roguelike, you just spam it and wait for the best. I've 100% every souls-like, Hades and a bunch of other games in the genre but couldn't bring myself to endure how disappointingly bad this game is in every other aspect. Even as a story-heavy game is fails miserable at it. You'll play it then forget about everything about it the next week. The voice acting (English dub) is horrendous and really cringe with the stereotypical Indian accent. Can't comment on the Hindu version because I planned to at least replay the first chapter again on that setting but I couldn't. The platforming in this is just bad. It might be inspired heavely by Prince Of Persia but the smoothness of that is nowhere to be seen from here and again, really basic. Take for example the pole jumping where you have to be positioned directly opposite from the pillar, stop moving, then jump or you'll end up jumping to where you're 'aiming'. It's slow, really slow. Not only for that but even for transversing the game since there's no run button so if you wanna speed up, you guessed it, you have to smash that A button a few thousand times more. I could go on and on about how this game is absolutely not it and you should neither spend your time nor your money on it but all I'll say is that if you've ever played any other action-adventure game of the likes of it, just lower your expectations coming to this... Then set fire to those expectations, shoot them 12 times and bury then 6 feet deep. This is is worst game I've played this year and is really, really not worth it. If you're like me trying to 100% it before it leaved GamePass, I'm sorry for you.

Raji was a decent experience. While it never stood out from the combat focused platformer crowd, it never buried itself in the crowd either. It’s fine game that I think fans of this style of game will enjoy even with the issues I had. If only the loading screen wasn’t so long, I wouldn’t have had as many issues with failing at my jumps and at the combat with several enemies. In the end, this is a different take on a familiar style of game that is just fine, but doesn’t stand out.

Raji: An Ancient Epic is a unique game that reminds me of the great Prince of Persia, her journey following a similar arc of learning God-given powers to help her people. Platforming can be a bit off a times, the forced perspective camera not helping here, though across the board Raji is more forgiving than most, letting us pick back up where we left off quickly. It’s a shame that we can’t level select to mop up collectibles/achievements as otherwise replaying can be a bit of a drag. Some great audio visual work eases this pain, but as it is I’d suggest that waiting for a sale down the line might make the journey feel more worth your while.

Raji: An Ancient Epic on Xbox One is a game I wanted to love from the off. From the moment I picked it up, right through to the telling end, I have to say I haven’t been left disappointed. It is a beautiful, epic journey with some fabulous storytelling and amazing visuals. Yes, occasionally the combat drags a bit, the waves of enemies grow dull as you progress to the latter stages, and the price is a tad high for the six-hour or so experience, but I think it's worth it for the quality on show here.
