The Pinball FX franchise has breathed new life into the pinball genre in the same way Telltale Game's The Walking Dead reinvigorated the long neglected point and click adventure genre.

I've always kind of had a middling view of pinball tables. Back in the golden era of Arcades, there was always something more deserving of my quarter. Pinball FX has blown that preconception out of the water. All of the tables have a mission structure and a series of goals. When combined with several popular IP's (Marvel Universe, The Walking Dead, Star Wars) you get a gameplay experience that expands upon the premise in several unexpected ways.

The free table (the Sorcerer's Lair) is just okay, and not representative of the quality in some of the other boards. Some of my personal favorites are, Blade, Moon Knight, Planet Hulk, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, The Walking Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy and Epic Quest.

Epic Quest has a persistent RP leveling system that last between plays. You start with a near naked hero and complete quests to grind out better gear for him. It's a really neat idea that adds tremendous replay value to the board.

I started playing Pinball FX on my 360, and was pleasantly surprised to see that I could transfer all of my purchased tables to the Xbox One. A great value for those concerned about the system upgrade.

The table packs run $10 for 3-4 boards and there are single boards for $3. It's a great value for any pinball enthusiast, and I've purchased nearly every board. I used to compete with my friends to see who could get the highest score on a board, and there is another stat called 'Wizard Score' that tracks your score across all the boards you own. a fun competitive angle to add to the desire to rack up highscores.

If you like Pinball, you'd be foolish not to check this title out. If you don't like Pinball, I'd still recommend picking up the free table. Be careful though, you might start out like myself, with a so-so opinion of pinball in general, and then find yourself writing glowing reviews after having dumped dozens of hours into the game!

This is a fantastic game. I do not play a lot of Pinball games, but I found this one quite engaging. I have many friends come over and play for first time and love it. Since then I have bought majority of their tables and will be buying more as they come out. Cost of a table is quite cheap. At $3 for individual it is a steal. There are bundles that make it even cheaper. One key thing I have not mentioned is game has multiplayer or two player local split screen that works well. I wish more game companies were like Zen. Highly recommend buying and supporting this company. Expand

This is the worst thing ever! I am a pinball aficionado, I've logged over 340 hours in this game, and I can honestly say that this is the worst pinball experience ever. I spend quite a bit of time getting lost in this game although if you're an achievement hunter this game isn't for you. The map packs are cheap and the tables are challenging. Menu navigation is easy and loading times are very short. Go for a Star Wars pack and you won't regret it.

My tables got transferred from the 360!! Thank you Zen Studios!! (at least most of them) They do a solid job with the physics, but many of the tables do "fantasy stuff" you typically won't see on a regular pinball table, like like Skywalker using "the Force" to manipulate the ball, that sort of stuff. Some people may see the tables as a Money Grab, but I don't, the tables are really well made and if you like pinball its a great deal. sometimes you buy 3 tables for 9.99 but I easily surpassed that at the arcades when I was a kid.

I love pinball fx2, loved it on the 360, love it on the 1. But where's the online multiplayer, apparently its coming soon (just like trials fusion made us wait and look at what happened there.) Some of the tables are really good and some are mediocre at best, i'll let you figure out which is which as it may be a matter of taste.

local multiplayer is ok but the real draw of this game on the 360 was fun multiplayer with camera support. come on zen games that's what we want to see, utilise that Kinect cam.

only a 7 for now but that may change if the multiplayer comes out soon, then it could go up 1 or even 2 points

If you're a huge pinball fan you might enjoy this, but I sure didn't. The first free board/map is pretty OK, but the two other maps I bought were so bad I just quit playing (do NOT buy "Defenders of the Galaxy", whatever you do). Also, the achievements are retarded, but I'm not sure how to avoid this on a micro transaction pinball game.

I might be unfairly harsh with the score here, I

I might be unfairly harsh with the score here, I probably shouldn't punish a pinball game for being a pinball game, but I'm just not enjoying it at all.

TLDR; If you love pinball, I'm sure you might like this too. If not, look for a zombie game or something.

I've always preferred the real thing.Tables such as Elvira:Mistress Of The Dark and Addams Family have always been my favourites. That's why I purchased them. However Sorcerers Lair and a couple of the Star Wars tables are up there with them. This has renewed my faith in digital pinball.A very good game with endless fun.

Pinball FX 2 is a blast. Short bursts are the best way to play it, and the pinball tables are very fun and creative. My only complaint is that they are a little bit expensive.

I got this game for free as an Xbox One Gold Member. If you like pinball this game is pretty good. I was surprised how much it felt like an old pinball machine. My left flipper on the first free board even seemed a little delayed. So I adjusted to it and was fine.

Though it's free, this game is a HUGE grab for money. It gives you one free board, but the rest seem to be like $9.99. 1 or 2 for $2.99. So mom and dad make sure your kids accounts lock them out from making online purchases when they are playing this game. Or they may end up buying a couple hundred bucks worth of pinball "boards" that you may not want or ever use.

Maybe there is a way to purchase things with points, instead of money but I haven't seen it yet. I just feel the prices for boards is way to steep. Only the most hardcore pinball person will probably pay $9.99 for the boards. Though other than the shameless grab for money, which can be blocked by your account settings, It should be a nice family game that kids-through grandparents can enjoy. It's probably more fun to play in a group setting where everyone can take turns and see who gets the top score.

Pinball FX2 is the ultimate time killing machine.

First, I downloaded the free version with the table "Sorcerer's Lair". As with real pinball tables, Pinball FX2 does not explain anything. You just start playing and wonder why you suddenly earned a high score or a multi ball. Then, you'll understand everything step by step. The tables are very creative and diverse. You can buy new tables for a fair, low price. Unfortunately, some tables can only be bought in a package with other tables for a higher price. If I only care for one table in a pack of four tables I won't spend my money for it.

When all is said and done, Pinball FX2 for the Xbox One is easily the best version of the franchise thanks to its new interface — even if you have to deal with a hiccup or two when importing your titles.
