Fun game, limited options. My fiancée and I love playing each other, but she has to be my guest and can't use her name and get achievements. Thats pretty lame. She doesn't care about that but I do. I don't want her spending my cp on her guest character

Love the game, love everything about it, except for the fact that you have to be online in order to play career mode. For a person who is deployed overseas. That is a big ruining factor 95 percent of the time. Because I dont have internet 95 percent of the time. Thanks 2k for making your game unplayable for anyone who doesnt have internet

If you like your golf game to be on the realistic side rather than arcadey (tiger / rory) then pga 2k21 is the best golf game there's ever been.
I've played the majority of golf games since the amiga times and play golf irl. This game captures the roller coaster of emotions of real golf like never before and to get good you have to practice. Again just like the real thing.

The closet to it would be the previous game in the series "the golf club 2019". This updated version improves on tgc2019 in every way. Backspin is now possible, the presentation has been updated and the course designer has been updated so users creations are unbelievable. Real life creations look fantastic now.
Constant user courses being created, combined with weekly society online tournaments like tgctours and you have unlimited content.

    Its fantastic.

I mean I don't even know how golf to play golf or what are the rules and how you'd become the g.o.a.t yet I played the game Many hours and it was absolutely a surprisingly amazing time. Just imagine that you playing something you don't have an idea about and you are enjoying and keep playing. This is enough to tell you guys how well they created this game. I can say that the single-player experience is excellent so far, despite the character creator being a little bare bones and most of the clothing and clubs being locked from the outset (requiring extensive play or real money to purchase). HB Studios has been on a roll with its golf games, and PGA Tour 2K21 appears to be another great golfing experience from the developer for the Xbox One. Expand

The course list may be small, but overall doesn't bother me with people creating their own courses. Some of the biggest courses in the world are practically available. Career mode has depth, I wish it had rights to the majors and more pros but understand why it doesn't. Hopefully that's to come. The society is a ton of fun, online works well. I wish it had something like a country club like other 2k online games have tons of availability to do mini games. My small dislike is the sounds of the clubs, but over time I don't mind it. Overall a very good game, I'm very happy with it. I can see logging numerous days on this like the past decade with Tiger Woods. Hopefully this is just the beginning. Expand

Does the creator of this game receive kickbacks on controllers with XBox? I have played previous games and the sensitivity is way off. I understand you can change the difficulties in all aspects of the game; however, the swing settings is not consistent, throughout. You’ll need to learn how to putt all over again from any other golf game you’ve played. it seems to take endless time trying to setup a shot. Waiting for the next screen to come up and I have to watch what’s going on with the 17th hole. I would have loved to just have a loading screen and not waste my time with that nonsense. Just another thing to make me dislike the game even more. Overall: it’s a very hard game to play. After 1/2 hr it never got easier. I would love a refund but that will never happen. Its a VERY frustrating game to play, It’s just not an enjoyable game to play. Rating a 0(zero) I wish I could give a -10 Expand

The consistency is the game is the worst ive seen in any video game to date. The whole game is just hope and pray. so let me get this straight. i half to hold back on the analog stick and get it to the white marker. Then press up on the analog stick to make my character hit the ball. why in the hell does it say im too slow when i go as fast as possible?? its a 50/50 whether i hit it too slow or fast. Getting the up and down perfect, which i do every time, Matters none.. The curve the ball has when you slightly hit it to fast or slow is absurd. To top it all off. THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.
SINCE WHEN HAS HITTING THE BALL TOO SLOW OR FAST = HOOK AND CURVE. If you can hit the ball fast and still hit it straight good for you. You shouldnt be punished for terrible reasons.

The greens are another thing. The consistency is terrible. ACTUALLY TERRIBLE. ive never seen a ball NOT role sometimes and then role a TON. like when you chip the ball the ball doesnt NOT act like a ball putting on the green. why cant the ball have the same effect as putting?? idk ask the idiotic devs.

Notice anything Consistent about my review. YAH THE CONSISTENCY!! My review has more consistency then this trash Heep of a game.

CHEATERS. Ive already experienced a cheater in my game as well. He got 1 hole in one. He hit the ball perfectly everytime. And then drained every single put. Didnt miss ONE. One was out probobly about 50 feet as well on a par 5. There was NO Put preview on as well. There was also about id say 4-5 30 footers and the rest just cause of his perfect swings landing almost 2 inches from the hole.

GET THIS TRASH OFF MY XBOX PLZ.

The game started poorly, with a really lacking tutorial. On to the tournaments, I started to perform reasonably well, in spite of not being sure of what I was doing nor how. Upswing and downswing timing are confusing, and it seems as if sometimes it is random. Sometimes shots with noticeable similar patterns had completely different outcomes.

I won a few tournaments, and by the time it was the final stretch of the Fedex Cup (roughly 40 tournaments?) NONE of my shots would work. I mean, ZERO. All would be either fast or very slow downswings. As with the tutorial, I have no idea what was wrong. Calibrated (which seems stupid), changed golf clubs, tried different timings, nothing worked. After 5 tournaments of absolute frustration, uninstalled, deleted the game, and came here to leave a review, helping out a fellow gamer.

Run away from this game, horrific mechanics, repetitive commentary (Its a HUUUGE confidence booster), sound is boring, and in all honesty, even Waialae golf on the N64 is better than this crap.

Save your money and buy it when it goes on sale. It improves upon TGC 2019 but finds other ways to negate those improvements. Let me break it down:

Pros: Societies and golf course creation are still a thing. This is probably the best part of the game. The number of user created courses is immense and there are plenty of competitive societies to play in. There are a load of options for customizing your character. The ball physics is much improved upon the previous version of HB Studios games. The bounce and spin of the ball is much more realistic.

    Cons:
They made the swing punish you twice. Since in the inclusion of a power meter (something lacking in previous versions of TGC) your swing will now punish you twice. Should you not hit the power meter target correctly your ball will either fly past the hole or be severely under hit. If I miss the power target by 1-2% there is no reason for my ball to fly 40 yards further or shorter. The down swing timing is now much harder to figure out than in previous versions. What makes it worse is that calibrating your swing seems to have no effect when the difficulty for the swing setting is changed which makes being competitive in multiple societies who's setting are all custom to that specific group. These simple changes ruined putting. If I hit the ball in previous versions a little too hard the ball rolls to the equivalent of how hard a hit it based on the power of the strike. In this game the ball is blasted past the hole or rather left well short if the target it missed. Putting is no longer based on feel and now based on aligning both the grid and your distance marker. The skill gap between each swing setting is massive. While the game does a good job of showing you where each ball will land and the flight of the ball based on your difficulty setting it does a poor job of scaling difficulty between settings. If I play on the Pro-Am swing setting I can easily shoot -10 or more. Move that up to Pro and I'm now closer to even par. Anything beyond that (there are two other settings, Master and Legend) is near impossible at this point. While leaving my swing setting at Pro-Am would be ideal I want to play in societies against other people and with societies determining their own difficulty, it makes it a massive headache to bounce from one to the other.
The addition of clubs with different stats was initially a nice move. Other games have had this feature and it was a welcomed idea. However, the clubs you start out with essentially are the best balanced ones in the game. There is no benefit to take a different set other than aesthetics if you want to play your best making this inclusion worthless.
You still can't turn off the announcers. While their lines are much better, I would still like to play a round with out their chiming in on every single shot, especially when the game gets it wrong like announcing I'm headed for the rough but hit the fairway.
The graphics are dated but that's the least of my concerns with this game. Career mode requires an internet connection which is absolutely asinine. If you don't have a good internet connection, sorry, you aren't playing anything.
There are plenty of assets that have been recycled from TGC 2019 which is how they were probably able to pump out a game for 2K in such a short time.
You want to play as a pro? Nope. You can't. Only your customizable character.

Overall there were a lot of good ideas that went into this game initially that made an improvement upon previous TGC games by HB studios but to many options in skill settings along with inconsistent leveling of skill between setting makes this a waste of time. If you want to play on your own in career mode (provided you have internet) or casually with friends, throw the game on the easiest setting and have at it. If you want to play in online events and at higher difficulties, well, get ready to be frustrated by a publisher who decided to slap the PGA name on a game they gave to a small studio who went in over their heads even though the recycled most of their assets from previous TGC games.

The only reason this game seems to be getting decent reviews is that we've been starved of a good golf game for a long time. However, don't mistake this for a good game. It's not even OK. If it weren't for the fact that you can play with others and this game has the best course builder there is it would have warranted a 0/10. However, those few features alone aren't worth $60. Save your money and grab it on sale during the holidays. Trust me, it'll be worth the wait.

I got this game when it came out. It was an atrociously under-developed game at that point, and sadly, it's a 2k game. The issues aren't as bad, I guess....a year later....like at least my game doesn't crash as much, but god damn 2k is the worst development company of all time.

Like how do you consistently **** up every single game you release? Well, ask 2k, because they are bad at everything.

PGA Tour 2K21 scratches the itch for the hardcore golf fans out there, but casual players are going to find a game that is lacking deeper options even though the game itself is beautiful. It's a good entry that hopefully is built upon in the future.

Even those who want a deep and challenging experience will find plenty to like about PGA Tour 2K21, thanks to the in-depth career mode and expansive Course Designer. As a first effort in this rebranded series, it gets much more right than wrong and is a very enjoyable golfing experience.

If I like something about video games, it is that they never cease to amaze me. I did not expect anything from PGA Tour 2K21, maybe those low expectations have played in his favor I do not deny it, but the truth is that I have found a good game in him. Its adaptability to different levels, the feeling of progress in your game, the local multiplayer and that feeling of not being able to leave the controller on the table and always wanting a little more are its greatest supporters. I hope that the community will give this title a chance that it needs it to continue growing and improve its deficiencies for future iterations. Hopefully in PGA Tour 2K22 we can handle pro players on the circuit and find a deeper career mode.
