    Paw Paw Paw tries its best to be an entertaining game that holds up to the standards set by the classic beat ’em ups and the innovative newer titles, but ultimately it falls a little short mostly due to its difficulty. Beat ’em ups are known for their difficulty, but they almost universally feature lives and continue systems that make them accessible to a wide audience. Even on easy some parts of the game can be very tough. This game is designed so you can grind by replaying levels and then level yourself to get stronger. There’s some variety in a few levels but not enough to make me want to go back and grind through them. If you’re a fan of the genre it’s definitely worth a look, and in comparison to some games by the same publisher it’s relatively good. Hopefully Ratalaika will step out of their achievement filled comfort zone and expand their catalogue even more.

    Paw Paw Paw on Xbox is a pretty decent beat ‘em up that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is reasonably priced for the fair few hours it will take to get through. There will be retries and replayability as you come up against some darn tough enemies, but the short levels help alleviate stress.

Paw Paw Paw is a beat em up about the Anti-pants revolution inspired by Castle Crashers. There are several details to appreciate in this game that show the developers really put love into it; from being able to see the weapons equipped in the characters to having some attack combos do flips and some extra damage. You start up the game really quick by quickly going into through the tutorial phase and right into battle. What makes this game really fun are the RPG mechanics that are present which allow you to level up your character of choice, acquire new items and pretty much create a build of your liking with it's small but direct skill tree. starting out using a sword and shield, and started slashing enemies with the combos and everything all right. The starting levels feel kinda short, with just 2 or 3 waves of enemies, but there are original dangers in the stages such as plants with thorns and venom flowers. Paw Paw Paw is named after the Kingdom in which the game takes place. It has always been a peaceful place filled with animals that walk and talk like humans and wear clothes from the waist up. If you’re going it alone, it’s not easy by any means and so if you think mindless button smashing will see you through Paw Paw Paw, you’ll be wrong. Dodging, jumping and blocking to negate damage taken is essential, with regular baddies proving tough and wily. The game looks great overall. The levels, while straight forward, are colorful and well designed as a whole. The game also plays well with no noticeable hiccups although combat movement looks and feels a bit slow, however. The soundtrack is surprisingly interesting. While the over-world map track is the most annoying, ear-grating thing I’ve heard in quite some time, but the level music is actually great. If you fancy playing as a few cute animals and causing some mayhem, you should give Paw Paw Paw a try.… Full Review »
