Pathologic 2 is extremely unpleasant and crushing to play, but that is seemingly the entire point. The thought and effort poured into the balance of all the economies to make every action carry immense weight took courage from the developer. Haruspex are healers with a single purpose and live to save lives, but living does not come so easily in Pathologic 2. Those who are fascinated by the prospect of an immersive survival game where the fun is trying to make the best out of a losing situation will find this worth their time. Just keep an eye on your blood pressure while playing.

The world and narrative does a great job of immersing you into a bleak and desperate world, only to be constantly taken out by long loading times, pop-in textures and terrible combat. While I wasn’t a fan of the survival elements, those that enjoy their challenging games should thrive with the difficulty. You can’t save everyone, sometimes not even yourself, but Pathologic 2 surely is an experience unlike any other, for better and worse.

The Russian studio Ice-Pick brings us again an interesting proposal that mixes elements of exploration, rpg and psychological terror to give as a result a great title that compensates its technical and gameplay failures with a really good story and setting.

Things in Pathologic 2 on Xbox One come together to create a game that deserves to be tried - but only really because it's unlike anything you will have ever played before.

Pathologic 2, although not as polished as maybe Fallout or Elder Scrolls, still contains all the necessary features for a story driven first player adventure. The games difficulty and time frame can have you sweating under the collar and sometimes become a bit overwhelmed, but you can praise it for its detail to character work and story line.

Pathologic 2 is the product of a perverse design philosophy. It's alternately intriguing and off-putting; it draws you in with its eerie, dreamlike setting and cast of unnaturally eccentric characters, but then it pushes you away with its nagging, mundane demands. In the end, I was resigned to let failure take me.

Before we start I want to tell you that most of the "mind play" games or "psychological" style games are based on the story and your mind not the game play. Pathologic 2 contains both elements. There's so many options that you can consider so many things that you can decide and if you just miss a spot you'll be in your inner hell trust me. Where the hell am I? What happened to game , which was the real are we on the past now or is this present day? These are the questions you might get from your confusion. I really don't wanna write about the story line of the game, because I don't want to spoil It for you. If you really want to know about this game no review would help you to do that. You need to come inside and experience it yourself on your Xbox One. Full Review »

It'sBehind its insufferable gameplay, Pathologic 2 hides a deep universe with carefully written dialogue and incredible world design. It's mesmerizing the amount of thought that Ice-Pick Lodge put into their world, and the risks they took to make the world into fruition. Everything is coherent, from the way you move around the map to the unforgivable survival mechanics. This game is depressing, and proud of it.

The only reason it doesn't get a 10 from me is the fact that this game runs really ROUGH on the Xbox One. I have a pretty high tolerance for bugs and glitches and don't like to let technicalities influence my reviews, but I feel like it wouldn't be a fair review without mentioning these issues.

I get that this is a tiny studio we're talking about, but I have to say that seeing a loading screen every time I walk like 20 steps really breaks the immersion that the rest of the game works so hard to maintain. I even debated giving it an 8 just for these issues.

Incredible game. It's probably more entertaining to just read about it online or watch other people play it though
