    Pacer is a great, solid racing game. It's easily one of the more better racing games and it's easy to recommend this game.

    Absolutely blown away with the exceptional quality of this game! I have been eagerly awaiting the Xbox release and it was well worth the wait. I grew up playing Extreme G and Wipeout and in the same way GRIP has brought back Rollcage vibes, Pacer does this for Wipeout. The first thing which hit me is how good the craft feel to pilot. They have a decent ‘weight’ behind them and feel likeAbsolutely blown away with the exceptional quality of this game! I have been eagerly awaiting the Xbox release and it was well worth the wait. I grew up playing Extreme G and Wipeout and in the same way GRIP has brought back Rollcage vibes, Pacer does this for Wipeout. The first thing which hit me is how good the craft feel to pilot. They have a decent ‘weight’ behind them and feel like you have complete control. The track design is brilliantly creative and equally diverse. You can go from twisting through futuristic neon lit up skyscrapers in a city to careening through a dusty quarry with plenty of tunnels. Then the sound design, wow. If you’ve got a decent surround set up or headphones they’ve balanced it all so well to truly immerse you with the hun of your ship and missiles flying past you. The music is a large selection of dance and drum + bass which you can fully customise to your liking. Oh, and CoLD SToRAGE doing an exclusive set of tracks - amazing! I could go on and on about other things like the customisation options and the sheer amount of different events to compete in but in summary if you had even the slightest interest in Wipeout from back in the day or are younger and want to see what all the fuss was about, pick this up now!… Expand

    Pacer successfully fills a gap in the market for high speed, anti-gravity racers. Those who are wishing for an experience reminiscent of the Wipeout series will be pleased on how this project has turned out. Tight and precise controls, matched up with a large assortment of maps and customised crafts makes for a very fulfilling experience. Issues such as those posed by hard-to-reach weapons can be overcome by practising and improving knowledge of each turn in every track - alas the lacklustre sound effects from the crafts is seemingly all that is available. These tiny issues aside Pacer makes good on its promise, even if it took a long time to get there.

    Pacer is a good game on its own merits but it is nothing special, and when Wipeout HD Collection is still being sold for half the price of Pacer (and the other titles I mentioned at the beginning of this review are also less than Pacer) it is extremely hard to say this game that is just “good” is worth your money when competitors are out there for less. Pacer does not exist in a vacuum, and therefore I can not recommend it over other Wipeout inspired titles, which there is at least one on every current platform.

    Ships that literally defy gravity, speed, shooting and constant action are the condiments that make Pacer a worthy exponent of the futuristic driving genre.
