There’s a lot to like about Outpost Delta on Xbox One; despite the rough edges, I've had a blast playing through. The exploration keeps you guessing, with various keys needed to progress and upgrades that are required to advance. As a Metroidvania, it is firmly on the Metroid end of the scale, but as a target to aspire to Metroid isn't a bad one. It is a little glitchy, there’s no getting away from it, but it’s challenging and, above all, fun to play.

Take on theOutpost Delta is a single player, 2-D side-scrolling sci-fi shooter originally released on PC and now on your Xbox One console. Take on the role of Delta, the outpost’s emergency defense, who along with her AI companion must defend the space station against alien intruders. As the alien hordes attack, you have the rather unique ability to control the station’s gravity which enables the opportunity to roam around or engage combat in zero-g mode. This provides a selection of innovative solutions to fend off the Klaath, such as turning up the force to blast enemies into air or dropping them to crush the aliens on the floor. Delta also has an array of un-lockable, upgradable weapons and armor at her disposal that can be customized to create an unstoppable arsenal. Everything you do could make the difference in regards to whether you stay alive. Full Review »
