    This game was fun. It's nothing special but I enjoyed it when I played it. I feel like there could be more to it, but it gets the job done I guess.

    A good basketball game, with problems. The game is like an update, but this is the first NBA 2K I’ve played. The gameplay is good, and season is fun to play through. Picking a favorite team is easy, and trades are easy as well. It is fun, but is repetitive to play through a long season.

    I am trying to get into sport games. This was a bad start. From the gameplay to the graphics and the controls, this is bad. Maybe sport games are just not for me, but I don't think this deserves its price.

    It's very disappointing to be playing a sports game and not have your cpu teammates or My career player make simple layups! I went 1/9 in a game with my 94 character and when I passed the ball my teammates missed shots that the other team simply made. It's overwhelmingly disappointing when I'm playing with the Hornets and they can't get better as players!!! And to top it off I've only wonIt's very disappointing to be playing a sports game and not have your cpu teammates or My career player make simple layups!     such a terrible game. The cpu is always faster than you. Transition defense doesn't exist on your team. Stops you in the lane to let the defense get infront of you or just stops you. Cpu blocked my team 40+ times in a game I'm pretty sure thats a record and the cpu shoots 80%.impossible to enjoy this game when you watch the cpu move fluidly and you constantly get stuck on people movingsuch a terrible game.     The gameplay is unmatched. You will never find better gameplay. MyLeague:
    It’s always fun to try to rebuild your favorite team and take them to the finals, making blockbuster trades, rebuilding a team from the ground by trading all your superstar / good players for draft picks, signing free agents to play a bench role or to lead your team, and the Summer League, 2K Summit (pretty much an all star game for the rookies coming into the draft.) and Training camps; Improving your players skills OR increasing their potential. I’m not a WNBA Fan, but it does suck that you can only do 1 season with a WNBA team, and then restarting directly after the playoffs. I hope a myleague for the WNBA is in the works for those want it.

    MyCareer has a good storyline, I can’t say much about MyTeam though.    … Expand

    An absolutely painful experience. Impossible to score more than a few points a game. It trivializes video gameplay and offers the user an impossible grind. Hands own the worst game I have ever played. Don't get me started on the pay to play....

    Although an entertaining, realistic basketball experience, this game is all but a good one. There are MICRO-TRANSACTIONS that you can use to progress and upgrade your online multiplayer character. This is PAY-TO-WIN and is unacceptable for any and all multiplayer games. If you like fair and balanced gameplay PLEASE AVOID this game.

Your moronic player refuses to sink the simplest wide-open baskets from 3ft away from the net and I'm talking shots that a grade 6 girls basketball team could hit repeatedly. Winning the Championship is basically pointless, I don't even remember earning an achievement for it. I sure as hell didn't get any extra VC for it!
    - Any & all online play (excluding "Play Now - Online") is bar far the most laggy glitchy idiot-infested GARBAGE I've seen since dialup internet, you simply cannot enjoy a moment of it. The only reason "Play Now - Online" works is because it's usually only 2-4 players in a private match, instead of the 40+ players that idiotic 2K jams into each lobby on their pathetically worthless servers.
    - I thought MyLeague could be the saving grace after all the previous torture I had endured, but holy crap was I ever wrong! A 100% customizable team/arena/roster/player/etc. should be a dream come true, however after I spent 5.5 hours well into the early morning customizing literally everything suddenly the game said "error: connection interrupted" and returned me to the opening screen without saving any of my settings/stadium/uniforms/etc. At this point I lost my mind and went to bed. I woke up the next day and recreated everything with ferocious rage in my eyes . When I went to save my newly completed arena it gave me a repeating message: "THERE WAS A PROBLEM SAVING THE ARENA. PLEASE TRY AGAIN." Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha oh wow.

    Uninstalled. Never ever again.

Now this game is extremely slow paced and so easy to block shots. The game feels unrealistic. The only thing keeping this game interesting is my career and mypark. Your ratings mean absolutely nothing, and neither does taking good shots. I cannot begin to express the disproportionate amount of wide open shots I’ve seen me and my teammates miss in the rec while some random guy hits an early 77 percent contested shot over someone. Also 2k fails to release any sort of decent patch notes, constantly wants you to spend money to have any sort of relevance as a player, and knows they’ve made a horrible, trash video game, but they don’t care because they already have your money. I’ve tried time and time again to enjoy this game, but it continuously disappoints with its horrible representation of what a basketball simulation should be. 2k peaked back with 2k11.… Expand

    MyTeam is fun for a few days but then you realize online is just filled with p2w whales who spend countless VC on card pack openings so you will never truly have a fair game.

    MyCareer has a good story but it stops there. Period. The most bugs and exploits is in myCareer. After playing 50 games I am still not a starter but have more minutes than some starters and the coach doesn't play two uninjured players 90+ rating on our team (Nets). Online is just full of people cherry picking and taking advantage of uneven team balance. Centers rule the game and there is nothing you can do about it. Pro-AM is absolutely dead due to this and park is also dying.
    In conclusion,
    I truly and sadly think the nba2k series will die soon and it's all do to nothing new being added and worse and worse game mechanics each release. If you already have 2k19, it is the same exact game, but if you don't I wouldn't spend more than 10$ on it, and that's pushing the price tag. For example, last year $10 worth of VC only get a MyPlayer up to a 67 or 68, but this year, you can get it well into the 70s. However, they only lowered the cost of lower level VC. . You'll STILL need 200k VC, or $50 worth, in order to go from a 60 to 85, exact,y the same as 2k19, which is a difficuly task for an adult like myself who works 40 hours a week and has a family. Once again, The MyCareer path could have easily been called 'Return to the Grind” or simply, “give us your money mode.' This doesn’t even get into the casino elements that nearly everyone on here is complaining about (and justifiably, they’re right).

    Once you get passed the VC issues, the game is still fun in some ways. The new MyCareer story mode took a step back this year, but it’s not as cringe as 2k15-2k18. I wish they’d just focus on making a better MyCareer game then some a rather boring pre-NBA movie. I don’t think 2K has realized that players don’t care nearly as much about their characters BEFORE they enter the NBA, so maybe they’ll fix that in future games. I loved that they added the WNBA this year and hope they’ll expand it next year. They also fixed the “teammate” grading system from last year, making it much more fair. I also like some of the balance tuning they made to shooting.

    Overall, NBA 2K is a fun game that is hindered by it's desire to take the absolutely every penny they can get From it’s most devoted fans. I don’t hate 2k, I love them, basketball is my favorite sport and my hobby in many ways, I just wish 2k could take a step back and realize that their fangs are unhappy for a reason.    … Expand

If you just want a great basketball game with multiple modes to keep you interested for hundreds of hours, 2k is the way to go. The dribbling system is intuitive and challenging, the post game options are numerous, the AI is decent, the finishing moves are exciting... The only people who tend to nitpick about the gameplay are those who've played other versions of 2k or other sims like NBA Live. If this is your first basketball sim, be prepared to be amazed.

    Now the other stuff:

    The E Rating is poor judgment. Though I think parents shouldn't rely on a letter on a box to see what their children are playing, it's not an age 3 and up experience.

    That being said, my biggest problem with the rating is not the gambling. More harmful to me is that a child doesn't need a dime to log in and jog around the neighborhood to find other online players with avatars that are thinly-veiled references to drugs and female genetalia. I've played the game for years, and if I have to see another dude wearing a Santa Claus hat named something like "Ya boi TakesTokes" running around the park, I'll lose it. I know some of them are kids under 10. I've heard them on my headset.

    When people complaoin about gambling, I wonder why parents don't take more responsibility for monitoring behavior. You can't get a bank account at 5. Or 10. You need to be 14 in the US to own a bank account. So, no kid under 14 can buy something to gamble with unless a parent willingly adds a credit card to the XBox account. If I read a bank statement and noticed my kid spent $50 on video game transactions, I'd find out really quickly what happened.

    The ones who really suffer are not the children. I imagine the bulk of the population who play it are at least 12 years old anyway. It takes a lot of skill to manipulate the controls well enough to compete. Late teens, college kids and adults have the money to spend.
    And let's be honest: MyCareer and MyTeam are the most popular features and have been for years. Both are impossible without buying some VC. If you want to compete in the park or rec center at a reasonably high level, you need to either log a hundred hours or more of game time grinding or spend at least $20. Probably $50 or more. Free-to-play mobile phone games rely heavily on microtransactions as well, but the operative word there is FREE. You must spend at least $60 to play this game.

    My suggestion for enjoying 2k: Think about what you want in a basketball sim. If you want to be a GM, play in the Blacktop mode, play online with real teams, you will find no better game. If you want to compete in MyCareer or MyTeam, be in it for the long haul. After years of MyCareer play, I've realized you need to make one build and stick with it. If you want a stud sharpshooter one week and a big man next week, yup, you'll need to shell out loot. I used to make the mistake of getting frustrated with a build and starting from scratch with a new one. I needed to shell out loot. With 2k19, my favorite build ending up being the one I created nine months earlier. If I had just stuck with it, or maybe one more, I'd be rated at least 91 or 92 with most badges after a few months if I played casually. There's been times I've played this game and the experience made me hate video games so much I didn't want to touch another game for a week and a half.     This game is garbage. Where do I start. You miss easy layups for no reason. Free throw meter don’t come up until too late. Hard to tell when to release free throws. Players AI on offense s and defense is atrocious. You can’t make a wide open shot to save your life. The only thing good is the graphics. This is the worst 2k basketball

    This is the same game we have been playing for years with little improvement. The gameplay is still way too slow in comparison to real life. Players perform ridiculous animations for otherwise easy shots. Players miss wide-open layups/shots. Shooting is still very hard. Do not buy if you have last years game unless you want a glorified roster update.

    Everybody yelling about Casino Game is hopefully aware that this is only true for MyTeam (Ultimate Team) Mode. Just don‘t play that, it has nothing to do with Basketball!!

    The rest is pretty much the best Game 2K has released in years, so give it a try and if you love the game of Basketball spend 100dreds of hours enjoying it!

    Yeah so this game made no mechanical improvements, it’s poorly made and not improved since 2k19. They barely fixed any glitches in the new update and in career it keeps on randomly making a game impossible to shoot in. I have a 95 ovr 3 point shot and in certain games I shoot with near perfect release wide open and it’ll let me make 1 out of 5 of them at best. Stupid game don’t buy it

    Overall, NBA 2K20 is still the best basketball game on the planet and that doesn’t look to be changing any time soon. While some fans may be upset about microtransactions, it’s not a requirement to play the game. At this point, however, it seems like as long as NBA 2K is the best game out there, microtransactions will be here to stay.

    The shame of all this is that without these practices, NBA 2K20 can stand tall as the best basketball sim available. Even running unopposed with the retirement of the NBA Live franchise, it continues to get better and better on the court, but serious issues surrounding that experience leave it feeling less and less impressive year on year. Here’s hoping 2K can end that trend.

    With new console hardware expected to arrive by late 2020, there’s a good chance much of 2K Sports’ design and programming teams are hard at work making the most of new technology. However, that doesn’t excuse the visual and gameplay gaps that shouldn’t be here. That said, NBA 2K20 is still a fantastic basketball sim with enough modes and features to keep fans busy until those revolutionary next steps start to come in over the next few years.
