    This game is filled with so many little bugs. The grind for this year's game isn't too bad for mycareer. It is actually much easier to get a player to overall 99. The game is the same but a lot of the animations needs some tweaks. The load time and lag for this game are ridiculous. It takes forever to update a player's attribute.     GREAT Casino and gambling game. It seems like they added some sort of basketball simulator to the gambling game. This is greed at its best. The basketball game is a full blown $60 expansion to NBA 2k19. "expansion" being they only changed the roster and charged you $60. The game is the exact same copy as 2K19

    There is no way this game should get a 10 in any review. It's an exact copy of last year's game, and the team seems to have spent more time on including GAMBLING machines in the game than actually improving it in anyway. Don't support this action, it ruins the games we love. And don't criticise parents, they have enough to do, that's why they use the ratings to see if they can trust a game to not be bad for their kids. It's rated as an E under ESRB, and even under their own guidelines, simulated gambling is a T rating. All of this behaviour by a developer is wrong, and not what we should be condoning. Yes as an Adult, if I want to go and drop $50,000 or $100,000 in Vegas, I will. But I don't want that shoved in my face or my child's face when I'm playing a Basketball Game.     There is no improvements in this game over last year nba 2k19. The only good thing is that you can choose what badges you want on the down side you cant go to the training facility to grind them anymore which defeats the purpose. The servers are also horrible. I paid for the legendary edition and still haven't received the extra content

    This game is laughably horrendous. As of the weekend of it's release. It's unplayable. Progression bars are getting frozen for everyone, error codes occur in every game mode, people continuously get dashboarded or blue screened while in game, gameplay took 100 steps backward from 2k19, and the marketing team along with the developers blatantly false advertised many features leading up to release.

    Now for the bad

    My Team features casino like games to win upgrades in the myteam mode. You've probably heard about this fiasco already. The pay to win formula in 2K is criminal. Marketed to kids with scooters and Halloween style neighborhood themes but yet has full blown gambling. Even worse yet, gambling aspects use real money to win fake money.

    Now lets get to the bread and butter of the recent 2k installments, my career. This is where 2K is absolutely embarrassing and Mike Wang should be fired.

    The statistical system in My career/neighborhood doesn't keep accurate stats and some categories have no stats. Your rec center stats for example, in the menus when you check stats.... there's nothing there. Just zeros.

    Gameplay wise Pro am and Rec are cheese fests. Once again players can steal passes with their backed turned to the ball. That's inexcusable. Bump steals still happen. You can have an HOF unpluckable badge and 95 ball handling yet get ripped by a lumbering center. There is zero logic or relation to actual basketball in this game.
    Mid range jumpers are more difficult to hit than well contested 3 pointers. As a matter of fact, teams of 99 rated players just run along the 3 point line waiting to catch the ball and green bar fall away 3 pointers. Absolutely pathetic.

    Centers can outrun point guards on fast breaks. I don't mean Anthony Davis type centers. I mean big heavy centers.
    Glitches galore on top of the fundamentally horrid gameplay mechanics.

    Please, do not buy this game. It's a casino. i really think that governments should take a look to these games... It has pegi 3+ and it should be 18+... This game truly sucks. The animations look even worse than in 2k19, it has so many glitches, looks like a beta stage more than gold.

    Do not buy, the game has been exploited early by cheaters who glitched to 99 overall with all hall of fame badges.. this has already put new players like me at a major disadvantage. Its something 2K has acknowledged, but yet to address or even take action on. Trash

For all the glitchy game play, lies, and freezing, they could've at least brought a new park and affiliations.     90% of MyTeam online matches crash during playtime with various errors.
    By the way after this you are losing contracts, which are worth gold.. What a shame to release such a crap instead of game.

    This is the worst game ever made, coming from the worst series ever made. This is the first half of my review, go to ps4 2k20 to see the end.

    Here’s a breakdown of what’s wrong:

    First, basketball (like most sports games) aren’t ready for, or aren’t being made for, the video game medium. Designing a game where you pass the ball perfectly, but it flies out of bounds because your of pass rating being a 98 instead of a 99 is a total disrespect to gaming. Think of it this way—Imagine you are playing call of duty: You see a guy, you shoot him, the bullet flies and it hits him dead in the head. But wait... no damage? Oh no! Your guy had a 98 accuracy rating, so even though you compensated for the accuracy and recoil of the gun, and you accounting for all factors of your movement and the enemy movement and the bullet fly time, and even though you did everything perfectly, the game takes away for success because the rating of the character you were using shouldn’t be able to do that.

    Therein lies the problem with why sports games cannot have fidelity and faithfulness to skill at the same time. How do you program a game to have people of the same height run at different speeds without giving a number to the speed they should be running? It’s not an easy answer... The answer is to have hundreds of more skill sliders, and have them be hidden to the player. Have each player have first step speed, second step speed, third step speed, all the way through when they would gas out, then have the same stats but with acceleration, then do the same with with jerk (the rate of change of acceleration, then do the same with with jounce (the rate of change of jerk), then also do the same thing for each step with stride length, and have each bar affected by stamina, as a dynamic modifier, no a single state itself. It’s tons and tons of more work—but hey, maybe don’t put out an iteration every year and take time to get it right. Each player should have thousands of hidden statistics that influence a game, and none of them should result in canned animations-where the ball would be 100% a swish, but it bounces out because your shooting rating isn’t high enough. Have the statistics guide the physics, not the other way around.

    Now that’s just the problem with all sports games, and this particular game exhibits that worse than most: but this game excels at being terrible.

    The in game currency is disgusting. It’s a cash grab—completely transparent cash grab. The game is designed to starve you for vc as much as possible, and then make everything rely on that. There’s so much to say about this, but most people already understand. If you make your game content locked behind pay gates, then the majority of players won’t have fun... and what’s locked behind vc in this game? having a player above the 64 starting rating, or a second player above the 60 starting rating, all animations from dribbles to dunks, EVERY CLOTHING ITEM (you wear a brown paper bag until you get vc, which you’re saving for stats so you never buy clothes unless you’re foolish or have spent real life money)... essentially the entire game depends on you getting this one currency, and the currency you can get for real life money—your results depend entirely on how much real life money you spent, that’s the definition of pay to win.

    Soooooo many other problems. The community is trash—try playing neighborhood without seeing a backflip. don’t worry i’ll wait—people are taunting constantly, it reminds me of black ops 3 dancing at the end of the game—it’s not celebratory, it’s antagonistic. The community is also low skill gap, angry, impatient and young. The difference in skill between the world’s best player and the average player is fully contained in the randomness that comes from different players stats—if everyone was 99 in everything, the world finals would be a coin toss. Whether you win or lose, you’ll get messages from your random teammates or the opponents, and these are short, juvenile insults like “you trash”, even though they went ice cold and you had all the points and rebounds. When playing quads, you’ll notice teams of 2 playing and only passing back and forth between them, forsaking open shots for their buddy to touch the ball. And most players spring around everywhere, and this really can’t be blamed on them, the flow of the game is abysmal. Watching a 5’7” player get outran by a 7’3” with 20 less speed is maddening.    … Expand

My big disappointment is in a department I least expected to be disappointed in, because they were already doing it right. Gameplay. NBA 2k20 tried to improve the gameplay, but totally spoilt it in an ambitious attempt to fix what was not broken. The players feel reluctant to move at your command, when they do, they move fast, so disproportionately to your controller inputs, leaving a feeling that you are not really in control. Despite cleaner animations, motions feel incomplete, as though they were cut short and the players just DON'T WANT TO MOVE. Developers claim that in 2K20 there's a beter sense of weight of the players, but that's a big lie,it sounds more like something they should have sad about 2k18. This makes the game feel more arcade than simulated. Kind of like what Need For Speed is to Forza motorsport. I get the feeling the AI is assisting me when I play because of how my input donnot feel effective and players also tend to move at their own time. I feel that those with 2k18/19 should not rush for this game. You are better off with your current games. The gameplay of 2k20 is disappointing and is not worth this money. I am happier playing 2k18 as far as gameplay. If you really just want a new game, wait til the price drops.… Expand

    NBA 2k20 I found be very similar last years game. Sure there have been a few tweaks but the overall formula has remained largely unchanged. Not that it's a bad game, it just needs some taking out and dusting iff to make it feel fresh and overly exciting again. I have fond memories of the old sports games and I played them an excitement like no other, no micro-transactions or and its was just all about pure fun and putting your victories in your friends or family members faces. NBA 2k20 is light years ahead of what we use to play but that same level of fun can be appreciated and recreated today people just need to stop worrying about how they can possibly be that disappointed the the small tweaks and the basketball game they go out every year and buy, enjoy it for what it is a fun experience that is brought you you year after year and stop rating games 0.8/10. The new consoles are upon next holiday season, I think we're in for a fantastic time and I think just maybe were going to see that 9/10 or maybe even that 10/10 basketball experience. I'm super stoked too see what next year holds in store fun and new gaming experience. If you enjoyed last years offering you will have no issues enjoying NBA 2K20 either.… Expand

The player movement still has some work to be done but it does play smoother, the game looks great and is certainly deserving of a score higher than zero! I'm giving this a 7/10 because they didn't revamp the player movement enough toI feel obligated to leave a review to combat the simpleton trolls that tend to spam games likes this with zero scores.     Everybody yelling about Casino Game is hopefully aware that this is only true for MyTeam (Ultimate Team) Mode. Just don‘t play that, it has nothing to do with Basketball!!

This game has a major improvement from last years gameplay, most people screaming about parks must want more latency in the servers, keep in mind every one is rating off the launch to be honest it still is too early to rate this game I’ll give it a 10/10

    This is not a bad game. It has more depth in MyLeague than Madden fans could ever dream of. Sure, it has a lot of micro transactions, but it has so much depth and if Madden had a career mode like this one, they would monetize it.

    - Any & all online play (excluding "Play Now - Online") is bar far the most laggy glitchy idiot-infested GARBAGE I've seen since dialup internet, you simply cannot enjoy a moment of it. The only reason "Play Now - Online" works is because it's usually only 2-4 players in a private match, instead of the 40+ players that idiotic 2K jams into each lobby on their pathetically worthless servers.
    - I thought MyLeague could be the saving grace after all the previous torture I had endured, but holy crap was I ever wrong! A 100% customizable team/arena/roster/player/etc. should be a dream come true, however after I spent 5.5 hours well into the early morning customizing literally everything suddenly the game said "error: connection interrupted" and returned me to the opening screen without saving any of my settings/stadium/uniforms/etc. At this point I lost my mind and went to bed. I woke up the next day and recreated everything with ferocious rage in my eyes . When I went to save my newly completed arena it gave me a repeating message: "THERE WAS A PROBLEM SAVING THE ARENA. PLEASE TRY AGAIN." Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha oh wow.

    Uninstalled. Never ever again.

    A good basketball game, with problems. The game is like an update, but this is the first NBA 2K I’ve played. The gameplay is good, and season is fun to play through. Picking a favorite team is easy, and trades are easy as well. It is fun, but is repetitive to play through a long season.

You'll STILL need 200k VC, or $50 worth, in order to go from a 60 to 85, exact,y the same as 2k19, which is a difficuly task for an adult like myself who works 40 hours a week and has a family. Once again, The MyCareer path could have easily been called 'Return to the Grind” or simply, “give us your money mode.' This doesn’t even get into the casino elements that nearly everyone on here is complaining about (and justifiably, they’re right).

    Once you get passed the VC issues, the game is still fun in some ways. The new MyCareer story mode took a step back this year, but it’s not as cringe as 2k15-2k18. I wish they’d just focus on making a better MyCareer game then some a rather boring pre-NBA movie. I don’t think 2K has realized that players don’t care nearly as much about their characters BEFORE they enter the NBA, so maybe they’ll fix that in future games. I loved that they added the WNBA this year and hope they’ll expand it next year. They also fixed the “teammate” grading system from last year, making it much more fair. I also like some of the balance tuning they made to shooting.

    Overall, NBA 2K is a fun game that is hindered by it's desire to take the absolutely every penny they can get From it’s most devoted fans. I don’t hate 2k, I love them, basketball is my favorite sport and my hobby in many ways, I just wish 2k could take a step back and realize that their fangs are unhappy for a reason.    … Expand

    Yeah so this game made no mechanical improvements, it’s poorly made and not improved since 2k19. They barely fixed any glitches in the new update and in career it keeps on randomly making a game impossible to shoot in. I have a 95 ovr 3 point shot and in certain games I shoot with near perfect release wide open and it’ll let me make 1 out of 5 of them at best. Stupid game don’t buy it

    This is the same game we have been playing for years with little improvement. The gameplay is still way too slow in comparison to real life. Players perform ridiculous animations for otherwise easy shots. Players miss wide-open layups/shots. Shooting is still very hard. Do not buy if you have last years game unless you want a glorified roster update.

    The gameplay is incredible. 2k has been superior to all other basketball sims for so long it's almost a wasted effort to make a comparison. If you just want a great basketball game with multiple modes to keep you interested for hundreds of hours, 2k is the way to go. The dribbling system is intuitive and challenging, the post game options are numerous, the AI is decent, the finishing moves are exciting... The only people who tend to nitpick about the gameplay are those who've played other versions of 2k or other sims like NBA Live. If this is your first basketball sim, be prepared to be amazed.

    Now the other stuff:

    The E Rating is poor judgment. Though I think parents shouldn't rely on a letter on a box to see what their children are playing, it's not an age 3 and up experience.

    That being said, my biggest problem with the rating is not the gambling. More harmful to me is that a child doesn't need a dime to log in and jog around the neighborhood to find other online players with avatars that are thinly-veiled references to drugs and female genetalia. I've played the game for years, and if I have to see another dude wearing a Santa Claus hat named something like "Ya boi TakesTokes" running around the park, I'll lose it. I know some of them are kids under 10. I've heard them on my headset.

    When people complaoin about gambling, I wonder why parents don't take more responsibility for monitoring behavior. You can't get a bank account at 5. Or 10. You need to be 14 in the US to own a bank account. So, no kid under 14 can buy something to gamble with unless a parent willingly adds a credit card to the XBox account. If I read a bank statement and noticed my kid spent $50 on video game transactions, I'd find out really quickly what happened.

    The ones who really suffer are not the children. I imagine the bulk of the population who play it are at least 12 years old anyway. It takes a lot of skill to manipulate the controls well enough to compete. Late teens, college kids and adults have the money to spend.
    And let's be honest: MyCareer and MyTeam are the most popular features and have been for years. Both are impossible without buying some VC. If you want to compete in the park or rec center at a reasonably high level, you need to either log a hundred hours or more of game time grinding or spend at least $20. Probably $50 or more. Free-to-play mobile phone games rely heavily on microtransactions as well, but the operative word there is FREE. You must spend at least $60 to play this game.

    My suggestion for enjoying 2k: Think about what you want in a basketball sim. If you want to be a GM, play in the Blacktop mode, play online with real teams, you will find no better game. If you want to compete in MyCareer or MyTeam, be in it for the long haul. After years of MyCareer play, I've realized you need to make one build and stick with it. If you want a stud sharpshooter one week and a big man next week, yup, you'll need to shell out loot. I used to make the mistake of getting frustrated with a build and starting from scratch with a new one. I needed to shell out loot. With 2k19, my favorite build ending up being the one I created nine months earlier. If I had just stuck with it, or maybe one more, I'd be rated at least 91 or 92 with most badges after a few months if I played casually.     Overall, NBA 2K20 is still the best basketball game on the planet and that doesn’t look to be changing any time soon. While some fans may be upset about microtransactions, it’s not a requirement to play the game. At this point, however, it seems like as long as NBA 2K is the best game out there, microtransactions will be here to stay.

    The shame of all this is that without these practices, NBA 2K20 can stand tall as the best basketball sim available. Even running unopposed with the retirement of the NBA Live franchise, it continues to get better and better on the court, but serious issues surrounding that experience leave it feeling less and less impressive year on year. Here’s hoping 2K can end that trend.

    With new console hardware expected to arrive by late 2020, there’s a good chance much of 2K Sports’ design and programming teams are hard at work making the most of new technology. However, that doesn’t excuse the visual and gameplay gaps that shouldn’t be here. That said, NBA 2K20 is still a fantastic basketball sim with enough modes and features to keep fans busy until those revolutionary next steps start to come in over the next few years.
