Same old crap just a different year. The control scheme is all wrong. It is a chore to play with the default configuration. there are far too many modes, and none are done well. It's just a mediocre game like always. It's amazing all the love this series unjustifiably gets.

It is only good if you play it once in a while like the reviewers did but if you want to actually become good at it, you'll realize how cheesy and scripted it is. If you're the better player, 2K is gonna help the other guy however they can and it's gonna become extremely frustrating which is the last thing you want from a game.

It is really unfortunate that we have to be forced to build a player a certain way just to satisfy the needs of my park. A mode which I honestly don't care to play. But besides that I like the day to day activities in between games and I like that we get more choices again. The story was much better than 2k16 but it still has issues. I noticed a lot of times things (story events) were out of order. The nick name is better, but still sucks. Why can't we just have a generic normal-ish name? My court is cool but could use more upgrade options. Finally the orange juice concept is nice in theory but broken in many ways. Justice has a better player than we will ever be able to have with archetypes. I personally didn't like justice and didn't go with him in the off season but yet the coach would still reference "orange juice" (nickname) in time outs (minor issue). So overall pretty good, still worth 60, but it seems like this game is slowly going down hill. I hope they give us back control over our players next year. Archetypes are my biggest issue with this game at the moment.

I've bought every 2k since 2k11 and every year I felt like there has been an improvement to the game. 2k17 is pretty much 2k16 with an updated roster and a different menu layout. But there will be countless times where I'm on defense and I go to steal the ball my players hands/body goes right through the ball. It's enraging when your playing a myteam challenge and you can't do anything when the opposing team is waisting time, you will not be able to steal, only foul. The shooting has improved a little from 2k16 but you will continue to miss wide open shots with almost perfect accuracy on the shot meter. I understand that making every wide open shot would be unrealistic but it is ridiculous to go 9 for 13 for field goals in 1 quarter to go on to get 1 for 12 for field goals in the next quarter. I'm a pretty experienced 2k player and it drives me insane when I play someone that has never played the game for before and they are able to keep up because of the game helping them out. I wish 2k would go back and make it so that you actually had to be good to score and be successful, and if you didn't know how to play, you should just get destroyed until you start getting the game and able to keep up with the better players. It's sad to say but I put a lot of my life in to 2k because I honestly that it was the best game ever. Now I have a hard time playing it because it makes me so angry. All I'm saying is that 2k has to cut out making the crazy, stupid shots that would never make it and focus on the basics. I feel that anyone that's actually played basketball feels the same way. 2k promised it to be the most realistic game yet, I'm calling BS. Go to my Xbox videos page, my name is Demonic Sploosh, I have a video of me missing a wide open lay up with Seth Curry. I mean playing the game for 20 disputes the most realistic label 2k has placed. If your not super into 2k you will like it. If your like me and you've played the game in real life and virtually for as long as me, you will be disappointed. Expand

In MyPark I had issues like: The Game crashed after one game, laggy as hell you cant hit the bucket because of the shotmeter lags, then I cant travel anymore to Rival Parks even when I try my game crashed.

NBA 2k 17 is a game that was made in late September of 2016.The game costs 60$ which is a little pricey but it’s worth it. When fully installed it has you make a Mycareer player and has these architect players to choose from. It gives you many decisions to choose from like being a slasher that is good at dunking or if you want to be a great shooter then I’d say go with a sharpshooter but they also don’t play the best of defense online playing against other players. If you want to be a player who gets other players mad then go ahead and make a glass cleaner who sets screens and grabs all the rebounds and out of nowhere can make threes. These are some of the architect players you can choose from.

2k focuses on the gamemode Mycareer and all the other game modes are off to the side. In Mycareer I would personally choose a slasher or a point forward because they are a small forward and can shoot threes wide open and if you have your grand badge then it seems like it gives your low three an upgrade to shoot better. When you start up your player you have to pick a college and play 5 games to see how good you are and get drafted by a team and continue to get better and soon win a ring for your team. 2k had added another player who got drafted to your team and his name is Justice Young and he is played by the guy who played in the movie “Creed” his name is Michael B. Jordan. As you and Justice rise to become the best players on the team you guys get a specific nickname called “Orange Juice” and a secret handshake. When you go onto your Mycourt and shoot around and if you have Xbox 1 then you press the B button and go to Mypark which is an online game mode that sends you to a park and you can go with a squad of whoever you have in your court and you can go with them to a court and play other online players. At first other players might think you’re trash but this game mode is where you can show your skills to other players.

The other game mode that I play the most after Mycareer is Myteam. Myteam is a gamemode where you start out choosing a player pack and you get a two players that are good and you have them for 5 games then it’s your turn to build your team with all the player you can get. The ways you can get players are by going to the Auction House and choosing what kind of player you want from all the positions. You can buy players with money known as MT and you get MT from playing these games in Myteam called Domination and you compete with your team and try and beat all 33 teams that there are till you move on to Historical Domination. The first team that you play are the 76ers and the teams start to get better as you move on past teams. All of the things that I have brought up have been the Pros I’ve had while playing 2k.

The biggest Con I have witnessed was that the game freezes at the main screen and the only way to fix the problem was that I had to redownload the game and wait 45 minutes to continue playing. Other cons have been that there is so much lag issues and I get really mad about it and so do my friends that I play with. In Career it takes a while to get 5k vc which is how you upgrade your player and a lot of players aren’t patient so they go to purchase 20$ or more of vc and upgrade their players to the max. It helps our players but it also wastes our money that we could’ve used to buy something else. For the console itself the game takes up 66 percent of storage that I have and to play online gaming I need to have internet. All these Cons should be resolved in 2k18 when it comes out this coming September.

Overall this 2k has been one of the best ones and also one of the worsts because it has a lot of options but it also holds a lot of gigabytes and uses most of the storage you are given. Hopefully this review helped you to choose either Xbox 1 or PS4 because it’s trash on Xbox 1.

The huge strides the game has made comes with My league which now allows 80 seasons of multiplayer leagues which is a major feature that was lacking for me in last years game. The customization and league expansion is brilliant and again adds incredible depth to the game.

I do love the game but it feels at times 2k took the "if it ain't broke don't fix it." Yet the new features redeem it and keep it clearly and far away as the top basketball game on the market, and the best career simulation modes both as a player and owner of all sports games out there.

I don't expect the game to be perfect, but some of the imperfections are very fixable. I can't fathom for the life of me why they would increase the rate at which players foul. As if the game didn't last long enough. Now there is even more fouling than in 2k16. My problem with 2k16 was the fouling was just too random. Since the developers want to add things like defense 3 seconds, which is usually called on the computer or Offensive 3 seconds, again usually called on the computer. why not add the rule of verticality when play defense around the basket. Every shot attempt in this game should not be a foul. the most frustrating for me probably is the fact that you can bump an NBA point guard, or just run by them and they lose the ball. Not when over dribbling. Anytime! If it happens occasionally yes, but not as often as it does. And even though I use it as a defense strategy, it's not realistic. Isn't that the point of the game, to make it realistic? I'm sorry it it appears that I'm just ranting. I was looking forward to a better game playing experience than the last, only for the game to regress in certain areas. I'm sure I'll like the mycareer mode, but since I tend to play other people more than I will Career mode, I'm extremely frustrated. I probably should be posting my issues in the 2k forums, but found myself here first. I'm only a day in and I'm sure I didn't add all Expand

Ever since 2K Games has announced the most current version of NBA2K with NBA2K17 people have gone nuts for it for a good reason. Who is a NBA fan who doesn’t get excited for these games? There are so many possibilities of what you can do in these games; going from things like having your own career to being the general manager of your favorite team!

The question is, can it live up to the hype?

When the MyCareer experience got an upgrade in NBA2K15 with the release of the Playstation 4 and XBox One, people have been trying to investigate for issues and finding some here and there. Then when 2K16 was released it got even better with the relationships with coaches and players, the cause and effect of your actions, and also your overall ability as a player in the NBA. But when NBA2K17 was released and I was able to have the opportunity of having the Pre-Tip Off version my mind was blown. Not only have the experiences from last year have been upgraded, but your character development is better, your game experience is better, your relationships with coaches and players are better. You also get your own court in your little ‘man cave’ area where you can work on your shots, plus your teammates can randomly text you to come over and shoot around with you. For example, you can be in your warehouse, working on your splash 3-pointer, and all of a sudden, ‘ya boy’ Steph Curry will show up out of nowhere and start showing you how it’s done in a 3-point contest.

Can this get annoying having a player come over and you have to go to a game, yes, but it’s the thought that counts. Not to mention, with these little challenges come rewards to improve your player.

Another new thing introduced was having a teammate, Justice Young, and having to build a relationship with this player during optional practices and things like that. Instead of past years where there was no legitimate reason to go to optional practices, you now get some improvement for upgrades and also further the plot regarding Justice Young. You originally start off cold with this relationship, for reasons that will be left untold, but it is so satisfying to make an unexpected friendship with Justice.

The other really cool thing about this is that whenever you get an assist from Justice or he gets an assist off you, you get this orange thing pulsing around both of your feet. This is called ‘Orange Juice.´ What happens is when this occurs so many times, you are able to control both you and Justice, instead of the usual player lock on you. This is very new to the games and I love it! It puts a twist and makes you try to get that one assist or for that one shot to go in. I hope it continues for next year.

Another feature to have is called MyGM, where you are able to be the GM of any team in the league. Not only that, but you can make a whole new team, add teams from other countries, or add some historic teams and have the 95-96 Bulls face off against the current Warriors in the NBA Finals.

You were able to do that last year, but this year they added some more goals set by the owner to give to you. If you can complete these goals, you get paid a bonus.

Although I love this newer feature, I prefer the generic association where you control every aspect of your team, with no pressure of completing different tasks. The MyGM seems a bit rushed and awkward this year, with the lack of choices you might see from games like Madden 17 and even Madden 13 when it was really big to do that mode. I have yet to get through a whole season on MyGM with the Indiana Pacers, but I do enjoy having to make the game time decisions to determine how your team will operate come next game. The thing that is new with both of these features is you can start in the off season and things can change quite a bit for the upcoming season.

By the way, LeBron went to Boston for all you Celtics fans.

Lastly, there is an option called MyTeam, which is like a team that is composed of players collected from packs or achieving different goals. I generally really enjoy this option, but this year was very different. It feels like with this game 2K pushes you away from this feature to things like MyGM and MyCareer, which I personally don’t like 2K doing.

Although you don’t have to use you Virtual Currency, or VC, on MyTeam to be used on MyGM and MyCareer, they have MyTeam Currency, or MT for short, but it is a lot harder to get and requires more to buy a pack.

Although I feel NBA2K17 may have needed a bit more work done, especially in MyTeam, it is a great game thus far. It is an enjoyable experience to play by myself and with friends in those classic 2K tournaments, and there are so many more options to be done with this game. With the amount of hype it has received, NBA2K17 has lived up to it, offering so many more and better ideas and updating and fine touching innovations to the sports-gaming community.

    Cons
Lags or has connective issues 24/7

Some archetypes are flat out broken
Will start 50% of the time

NBA 2k17 was released on September 21, 2016 with well over 7 million copies sold. Starting at 60$ there is other editions offered at a higher prices. I myself have bought the 80$ edition and with such a price should come an outstanding game. The game comes with many game modes but for this I will be reviewing MyCareer and MyPark as they are linked together and most popular.
If you like grinding non-stop to be the best of the best this is the game for you. MyCareer has been almost identical but with more cut scenes this year as well as added abilities. New badges have appeared and some have gone but that's for balance. Without MyPark, MyCareer can become very stale super quick. This game loads so much faster in between games which is a huge plus with a recurring problem of the game not being able to start 50% of the time.

MyPark is what makes all of your play time worth it. But how good are the parks this year? The same 3 parks are still there with very little changes toward them unfortunately. The parks have some appeal but feels almost identical. The parks are only cosmetic but the real question is does it run smoothly and correctly ? My answer is no not even close, With any event they try to put in comes more lag or another issue and even with that there is lag without park events making this game almost impossible not to get mad at most of the time. When running smoothly this game will keep you entertained for hours upon hours with you wanting to come back.
I would give this game 3 stars, If there was no issues with the servers and bugs/glitches this game would be no doubt the best sports game out there. I feel if all was fixed within the game, I would recommend this to anyone with a next gen console looking for a game to last them a while. . NBA 2k17 is good for anybody and can definitely teach you the sport head to toe. With no inappropriate content or questionable scenes this game is perfect for all ages !

    Cons

    Myparks are the same

NBA2k17 is a good game I’d say, however it hasn’t made much improvement in my opinion compared to last year. This year in mycareer (their most popular game mode) they have an archetype system. You can pick your position and then pick your archetype. You can be a great shooter, a great defender, a great ball handler, or a great inside scorer. It makes sense to have these archetypes, but you cannot do anything else except what archetype you pick. So if you pick a shooting archetype you cannot dribble that well, or you can’t finish inside. You can ONLY shoot. Except the Mycareer story is better and longer than last year. This year you go to college then go to the NBA and get drafted. You have a bestfriend on and off the court and you guys are a duo that calls themselves Orange Juice, I don’t understand it, but it is a good feature.

Another negative is the they never fixed their servers. You cannot play more than 10 games till you lag out of any online game mode that they have. A popular one is Mypark. You always lag and it just ruins the game. They never did anything to the Mypark atmosphere either. The parks look the same as they did last year in NBA 2k16. Hopefully that will change in NBA 2k18

The game does have great graphics and is very accurate with the players look. They have the tattoos pretty much. They also do a great job with how the players move. The game is smooth is very fun if you are on an offline mode. They have players and their pregame rituals which is a great feature.

Overall I love this game when the servers aren’t terrible. I play Myleague and Mycareer the most and I think they did a pretty good job on the game modes. I would give this game a 4/5 stars just because the servers are usually horrendous

Visual Concepts has done a great job in developing NBA 2K17. Even though it might be a little pricey at $60, it will keep you entertained for days. 2K is a fast-paced, fluid game. Even though everything happens so quickly, this game has so much depth and detail (such as multiple game modes) that you will not want to stop playing after you start. The buttons are also very simple and easy to learn, so it won’t take long before you start to feel comfortable with the controls. NBA 2K17 has multiple options for single player as well as online multiplayer.

NBA is a great game to play by yourself or online with your friends. This game has multiple single player game modes such as MyCareer, MyTeam, and Blacktop along with online modes such as MyPark. MyCareer is the main focus in NBA 2K17. In MyCareer, you start out as a college basketball star that leads the team. You get to pick from a limited selection of colleges to attend. From there you get to play through your freshman season, as their is talk about entering the NBA draft. Once you finish your freshman season, you enter the NBA draft and get selected by a team. From then on, the whole point is to upgrade your player's attributes and become the best in the league as you go through different seasons and sometimes get traded to different teams.

2K17 does an amazing job on the graphics and mechanics of the game. The graphics look like it is real TV. As far as the mechanics go, the controls are pretty basic and easy to learn. The game runs really smoothly, seeing as how it has so much detail.

I believe this game is appropriate for all ages. It is an amazing game with tons of detail involved. How the game runs and operates with that much detail is really impressive. Once you start playing the game, you get hooked. You can’t stop once you start. This is probably one of the best sports games of the year. Overall, I think that NBA 2K17 is the best sports game of 2016.

I made a slasher as I always do and I am disappointed that I have difficulty making open dunks. Some of the bad animations in this game include air ball dunks (seriously, when have you ever seen an NBA Player air ball a dunk?), getting dragged into screens and falling over, eurostep out of bounds, getting dragged into a stripping animation when you have an open dunk or layup, passing to the wrong person when a teammate is wide open, cocking the ball back on dunks against your will and consistently getting blocked just to name a few. 6'2" playmakers should not be able to block 7'3" glass cleaners, it just doesn't make sense. Since 2k pretty much has had a monopoly on video game basketball for the past 10 years they have stopped putting in effort since they know we will buy the game and vc every year. Hopefully the rising of nba live has made them put in extra effort this year to be better. It is ridiculous how long the grind takes for your MyPlayer. It takes 150,000 VC to get your player to an 87 overall even though they are pretty much role players. 150,000 VC is $40 by the way. I bought 75,000 VC and it still took me a month of playing 3 hours a day to get my player to an 87 overall with all hall of fame badges, and he still misses open dunks and layups. The archetype system is terrible. Why should we have to spend a month of our time just so we can get a player who can only shoot 3's or only rebound etc. Stick skills don't matter. The only players who consistently win are those who find flaws in the game and continue to exploit them. The same parks just show no effort by the development team. The servers are constantly laggy, and the only way that you can win a lot is if the animations go your way. I feel like giving this game a 0 rating is much too high, and I would give it a negative rating if I could. Hopefully the series gets better and the team stops slacking off because it is seriously starting to get frustrating. Expand

I don't even know where to start, this game has so many problems. Pro-Am walk on is broken; my park is glitchy; 2k servers are down almost all the time; glitch animations ruin the game; ratings don't make sense; 2k releases a patch every month and makes the game worse. I bought this game and thought it would be an upgrade from 2k16... I was definitely wrong

NBA 2K17 is a game that follows NBA basketball and has many different game modes to keep you hooked for a long time. Made by 2K Studios and rated E. There are many different game modes such as MyCareer, MyPark, MyTeam, Play Now, which has many different modes in that. This game if u want it new is $60 but pre-ordered is about $55. The game can be played on Play Station 3 and 4, and Xbox 360 and Xbox 1.
The main modes I do is MyCareer and MyPark, there are many things I do, first I made a player, there are many characters that you can do, you choose a position, I chose point guard and then there are different archetypes you can choose from with a point guard, like sharpshooter, shot creator, slasher, and a playmaker, I chose playmaker because that suited me best, each archetype has certain badges that you can upgrade to make your player better in certain ways, one of the main reasons I chose playmaker because they can upgrade their ankle breaker badge which I love doing. My player is a 92 overall which is really good considering many people are 88 and 89 overalls. It takes a very long time to get your player good and to get all of his badges upgraded, It took me 3 months to get my player to his current overall. As fun as MyCareer is, it’s a major grind to get your player good.
The other mode I do is MyPark which is where there are a ton of courts you can play 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4, this is an online mode only and can lag and this is where the bad servers can make the game frustrating. But when the servers are good, I could be on MyPark for hours.
All in all this game is a very fun game that could keep you on for hours a day. My favorite modes are MyCareer and MyPark, but other modes may be the best according to other people such as MyTeam, MyGm, MyLeague, or Play Now. Try them all and see which one is best for you. I’d recommend this game to anyone who likes basketball or sports in general.

In this game there are definitely some good things about this game but there are also some negative things that they could’ve changed about it. Although this game is a little pricey at $60.00 it is still by far the best sports game in 2016. 2k17 is an easy to learn game. I am currently using this on the Xbox One think this game. This game is very different than any other 2k games. I would certainly rate this a 8 star rating.
I think me and the 2k community would say this is the best 2k and basketball game made in a long time. The graphics in this game are really good and realistic. This changes the whole sport gaming world. This game will never bore you due to the fact that it has multiple game modes.
I personally love this game, I play this at least one to two hours a day. When I get bored with one game mode I move onto the next. Partly why I love this game is because of the outstanding graphics. But, when I’m playing online everything seems to lag and it is delayed about half a second. There are multiple complaints about the servers but they never seem to fix it.

    MultiPlayer
Fun Game Modes : MyTeam, MyPark, MyPlayer
A lot more features in MyPlayer
    More cards in MyTeam

    Cons:
    So many bugs and glitches
Everything costs more VC (Virtual Currency)
Park After Dark is too laggy

NBA 2k17 is a good game but there are many issues that should be fixed. They have been working on some of the main fixes though like when your game says “NBA 2k17 took too long to load.” and you had to clear your reserved space but they finally fixed it. Some other downsides of the game such as the face scan for your MyPlayer which is so hard to use correctly, the “There is a problem with your connection to our online services”, and the MyPark glitch where you’re waiting for a game to start and you get lagged out when your internet is fine.
Luckily though the 2k staff are trying to fix all these bugs and problems in the newest patches and aren’t completely ignoring the players. Some good parts about the game are the new MyTeam cards and packs that get released all the time and all the MyTeam challenges so you can earn better players. Something completely different in 2k17 is the new archetypes, which is what your player is mainly good at. So if your archetype is a Sharpshooter he’ll be good at shooting but not the best at dunking or a Lockdown defender will be great at defense but not the best at shooting. They also added hall of fame badges for MyPlayer this year the hall of fame badges that are available depend on your archetype all of the archetypes have 5 hall of fame badges that you can unlock.
A new mode in MyPark this year is Park After Dark, but it’s too laggy to the point where it isn’t even playable. There’s been two Park After Dark's already which only come on special events like Christmas and Thanksgiving and both of them have been a complete disaster. New and cool parts of the MyTeam mode is the Dynamic Duo which is two players that are friends if you have both the cards they play better together. Other cool parts is the new cards such as emeralds, sapphires, rubies, and pink diamonds. All of these cards have different players in each section and you can get them in packs which cost VC (Virtual Currency) or MT (MyTeam coins). You can pay for VC with real money and MT you have to earn in the MyTeam gamemode. You can also buy different cards with the MT you earn.
The game does take a lot of work to get a good player but it’s definitely worth it in the end. I would recommend this game to anyone who’s liked the previous NBA 2k’s and like basketball because it’s very fun even though there are some bugs and glitches. You can get this game for $60 at most stores and it usually goes on sale.

    Get Dunked ON in 2k17!

NBA 2k17 is more than just a random basketball game. When the game was first released i had realized that the game required atleast 60 gigabytes (gigs) just by itself. Also, almost every review that i’ve read online thought of the game as just a remake of the previous year, 2k16. With just about all the same bugs from 2k16, there are still some pros. First of all the gameplay has become way more enhanced. It feels extraordinarily smooth and almost makes you feel like you’ve been immersed into the game. The graphics quality has greatly improved from last years product and all the new gear looks great on your player. 2k17 goes deep into the depths of focusing on your players’ Nba experience. Although, before you are able to play as your player in “MyCareer” you have to create the player first, which i will say is time consuming, along with the “MyCareer” game mode. It is 100% percent worth the blood, sweat, and time in the end.

NBA 2k17 is almost completely focused on the MyCareer aspect of the game. It starts you off with being a college all star that carries the team throughout the season eventually into the championship. Eventually, after the championship game is over you get a call from the U.S Olympic Basketball team coach and get offered a chance to perform in the olympics. After your experience with the Olympics Basketball Team, you get to start your NBA Career. You are able to go through the draft and watch it live. Other than the fact that you can’t skip to your pick in the draft it is overall a great experience.

From my experiences of playing NBA 2k17 I’ve have learned that this is one of the most realistic NBA games i have ever seen. Not only does it make you want to keep playing, but it gives you something to play for. I personally have played 2k17 more than any other game since it's came out. Whether you want to play alone, or have a few friends over i would definitely recommend this for you.
