The graphics are terrible. The controls are even worse. The combat mechanics are abysmal. The menu is from the 90'S. The politics is frustrating. Then why can't I stop playing it?!

It is an extremely unique game in the fact that you can lead armies of 100 soldiers into battle. You can fight on many different types of terrain, which effects your strategy and how you command your army. Despite the fact that this is an old game that was released in 2010, and the fact that it is merely a port, it is still a great game to play. The graphics are sub-par compared to todays standards, but don't let that put you off! If you want a cheap, engrossing game this is for you. And if you have xbox live the multiplayer is great with new update allowing 32 v 32 battles in castle siege, and battle modes. I have had very fun times playing this with my friends. Expand

Controls take some getting used to. Feels kinda wonky until you get it down. But it was just as hard to learn on the pc to be honest.

Multiplayer is a hoot. Watch some videos of people who actually play the game and decide if it's something you would be into. Not these half baked "official" reviews.

This game is in my top 5 games of all-time, and I have played it extensively on PC for years before it was released on consoles. That being said, the console adaptation is a great way for newcomers to get into it, and at $20 (average price on Steam and most other places), I'd say it's well worth the measly 20 bucks.

The only gripe I have so far is that issuing commands to units is kinda clunky, but after more time sunk into it, I'm sure I'll begin to memorize the patterns like I did on a keyboard. The combat is spot on though, maybe even better, and that's really where M&B Warband shines.

The combat system is very deep becuae you can attack and block 4 different directions. Up, down, left and right which ultimately makes the ground base of a deep, satisfying combat system. Sure the game has problems wiith it´s awful, although rather charming graphics, alot of recylced dialogue, buildings and overall just a bit buggy. But that doesn´t take away from this amazing game that i recommend to everyone! There´s even a multiplayer where you can test your skill and knowledge of the combat system against other real life people in modes as Duel, Capture the flag, Siege (where you have to defend or capture a caste) and a few others. Highly desirable game. This is one of those games that has features you would want in every game, rpg elements, a world that has prestige and world events, battle simulations that have tactics in it and a hardcore grinding element. Its hard to learn to play as nothing is handed to you, personally that is the way I like it. I highly recommend this in the arsenal of every PC gamer. Can'tHighly desirable game. The presentation of the Warband is simple, but enticing. The rather epic medieval music and simple character creation screens are nothing new, but certainly raise anticipation levels. As does the rather creatively and brilliantly designed game map, which looks beautiful and lets you choose what quest to undertake at any time and any place, and also shows what is going on in the kingdom.
Sadly none of these things can rescue what is ultimately a dreadful game, which even for it's low price tag, is a rip off.
Though the backdrops to the game are bright and scroll by neatly, character animations are awful. Speech samples are also few and far between, and pretty basic, and non-existent in the character interaction screens (reading through text soon becomes pretty tiresome).
Worst of all is the control system; Inconsistent, sometimes unresponsive and always extremely slow. The challenge level is also high, but ally this to the outdated and flawed control dynamics and you have one extremely frustrating and unfair game.
Fans of the old PC game will undoubtedly get something out of the remake, but as far as modern Xbox One Technology is concerned, this old fossil belongs in the dark ages.

Always loved Mount and Blade series. Awesome to see them on consoles. Controls were something to get used to, but not bad. Being a brigand is exciting af! Been hated by every kingdom. Don't understand how critics have bashed this game so much?!?!

Listen, I understand this game is one of the few medieval multiplayer combat games on Xbox One right now. The only other one I can think of is "Chivalry: Medieval Warfare", which is a great game in its own right. But seriously...how could they release Mount & Blade in such a buggy and unfinished state?

This game is nearly 7 years old, surely they would've ironed out all the bugs by now,

This game is nearly 7 years old, surely they would've ironed out all the bugs by now, right? Nope. The lag and framerate drops online are unreal. Voice chat barely functions at all. Weapons seem to either have the cutting power of a lightsaber or a flimsy piece of paper. Archery is terrible, good luck killing anyone other than a brain dead enemy archer who's standing perfectly still. Ugh... I really wanted to have fun with this game too, but I just...I just can't. Not right now at least. This is absolutely despicable, especially coming from Taleworlds.

Get a grip guys, this isn't 2010 anymore, this kind of crap isn't going to fly.

I love this game. I just wish you would add a PvE gamemode to it so its not just single player campaign and PvP it would make it fun so you can fight with your friends in a campaign like gamemode.

Your character develop skills and levels up (by completing random quests and fighting). You can build up your army, that you have to mantain with gold. Luckily, you don't have to worry about skills and equipment of your recruits.

Battles can be both small and big scaled, and there are castle sieges too (which may lead you to conquer a castle).

The game is a sandbox, there isn't a story but there is a living world with its factions, wars, allegiance and random events. There is a reputation system and a relationship score between different lords of the realm. You can even marry yourself.

There are a ton of things to do in this game, like trading or starting enterprises.

What i like about it is that there isn't frustrating micro-management. You can actually choose to do what you like the most, and have fun crushing armies around the world.
And in spite of outdated graphics and the absence of cinematics, Mount & Blade is A LOT immersive.

it really could be a good game if it had at least a tiny tiny bit of polish. the controls are unberably slow and sluggish fighting is an absolute joke. the concept is great don´t get me wrong but the execution is absoltely terrible. i don´t even mind that it looks like a game frim 30 years ago if you could at least properly control anything if the menue weren´t an absolute chore

Mount & Blade: Warband isn't supremely polished and swanky, but it is enjoyable, and there is enough intrigue to keep anyone entertained if they can see beyond its datedness. The fighting mechanics and the horse-riding need overhauling entirely for it to be a great game, but in the meantime, Warband is a good game to spend a few hours at a time in.

Thanks to its deep simulation and strategic features, Mount & Blade: Warband is a great game for every lover of the medieval age, provided that you're willing to create your own story as the game won't provide any.
