I'm a huge power rangers fan, but this is an absolute disgrace. You spend more time in this game waiting for the enemies to get up on their feet after you knock them down while fighting. I feel like i got $15 stolen from me.

I'm not sure how Bandai Namco get's away with stuff like this.
Basically, they copied castle crashers but made the controls less fluid. Then they added a power rangers skin over the top, and released this for easy money. They didn't even bother making it online. wow
True power rangers fans will enjoy Chroma Squad much more; but people who just want some couch co-op action with power

    It’s Morphin Time

I have long awaited this game since its teaser trailer, I've been a fan of the power rangers since I was a little kid and this was just the right amount of nostalgia to get me excited for the upcoming movie.

    The Story:

It in no way really flows like the TV series at all, there are some resemblances to the TV series but it just mainly draws from it rather than following it. Setting is of course in Angel Grove, you start out with the Original “Teenagers with Attitude” and you will progress through the stages leading up to familiar bosses throughout the series. Game provides cutscenes but has very little spoken dialogue. Mainly just remastered sound bites such as “It’s Morphin time” and Alpha’s “Aye yai yai yai”

    Gameplay:

It is a side scroller beat em up very reminiscent of old school arcade games such as X-men game , but it is very Castle Crashers-esqe as well. You have a leveling system and talent tree to spend power coins in. You can spend them in three ways, Weapon (which focuses on heavy attacks) Martial Arts (focuses on light and team oriented attacks) and finally Buffs (Various ways to improve your character's Health, Energy, etc.) You can also play solo or up to 3 others in Local Co-op Only! Period! No online. I recommend at least playing with one other person, because playing solo no one can revive you sending you all the way back to the beginning of the stage.

    Visual and Audio:

The game boast that it uses remastered sounds from the original series in some areas, which is great as it helps the nostalgia factor this game has going. However my one gripe is in some scenes it plays the MMPR Theme it sounds like to Go Go Samurai Vocals are being used. Visually I think the game looks just perfect during the sidescroller phases, I really like the art style they went with, and its Morphenomenal during the cutscenes. One down side to the art comes from the boss battles, it becomes less vibrant and the characters down really pop out in the scene kinda like midgrade Flash game graphics.

    Final thoughts:

I had a very enjoyable time playing this game with a group of friends, it does take awhile to beat but can easily be done over the course of one night. It’s solo game is a bit weak, and I mainly attribute that to how unforgiving the game is when you die. Currently the only way to get the White Ranger, alternate Billy and Season 2’s cast of MMPR is if you preordered the game, so I hope down the road a way to unlock these characters will be provided.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Saban's Might Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle is a fun couch co-op beat 'em up.

However, it is very lacking in certain things.

1.) Playing solo can be difficult while playing with multiple players may be too easy.

2.) Leveling takes a long time. (until you reach the third level where super XP orbs can be found and you level up about 3 tiers per orb)

3.) The controls aren't as smooth as the trailers and devs would like you to think.

4.) The Megazord battles are not very fun and are tedious.

5.) The story doesn't make much sense.

    Some positives:

    1.) The visuals/animation/designs are great.

2.) Once you get reach a certain player level the game becomes much smoother.

3.) There's a DLC pack immediately available that makes the White Ranger available right away.

4.) The team-up moves look awesome

Hopefully the dev team creates a "season 2" with more levels and new upgrades and adds online co-op.

Overall the game is fun. The campaign can be completed in less than 6 hours.

Completing the campaign opens a Tower Climb mode where you can fight waves of Putty Patrollers and other monsters to try and reach the top of Rita's tower. This is a fun challenge.

Yes, 8 is slightly high all things considered. But the game was worth the $15 USD I paid for it.
Me and my wife had a blast with the nostalgia and simplicity of it, and it kept us entertained for the whole Saturday.
Positives: - Nostalgia level over 9000 - Quirky yet fun animation style - Simplistic controls and straight forward arcade-like beat em up - 4 player local co-op

    Negatives
    - Really short (less than a day to complete)
    - Skill tree could've been more expansive
    - The choice made for Zord battles (basically button sequence minigames) was not terrible, but it could've been more fun and involved

Overall me and my wife both agreed that it was worth the money to have a nice relaxing co-op day on the couch.

Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle looks great and sparks so many nostalgic memories for me, but that is where any happiness from this stops. The game itself is basically hot garbage in a pretty multi-colored wrapper. The boss battles are lackluster, controls are horrible and the story is generic at best, even for a Power Rangers story.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle isn’t a bad game, but it isn’t a good one either as it lacks any of the attitude that made the original series so endearing. The Nostalgia may be on point, but everything else quickly taps out of the Morphin grid after an hour or two. Or to put it another way: AY-YI-YI-YI-YI!

It’s short, fun and capable of inducing the occasional rage quit.
