    Loved this game. This was a surprise hit for me as I didn't have any expectations. It felt like Half-Life again - monsters, humans and a long linear story line that is full of surprises. It's great.

    Metro Redux is simply one of the best series of the decade, I had such a joy playing this for the first time. Defiantly my favorite game on the Xbox to date and easily won of the best games I have ever played. Amazing story that never ever fails to let you go. Interesting characters, spooky creatures and some serious scary ones! (Them ape things!)     Excellent remaster of two great singleplayer games. Played both originally on the Xbox 360 and now on the Xbox One and wow, what a difference. The main difference is of course that both games are in 1080p and have 60fps. Besides the graphical upgrade the gameplay feels so much better, especially in Metro 2033. That said, Metro Redux is a musthave for any FPS lover!

    Its one of the best remakes ever 10/10, it is really nice done and graphicly the best i recommend the game to every player that has an xbox one and never played a Metro, It will blow your mind :D !!!!

    Damn A game im excited to play again. Remaster is understatement. Mind blown! I wanna play it right now but im at work! Never played them on the 360 so my first time. sweet creepy game! Not for you guys with issue of tight spaces!

    Giving this game a perfect 10. These game are survival horror done right on FPS. Last Light was one of my fav games of the year so it came as quite the surprise when I get it plus the original all for under a regular game price. Do yourself a favor and check this out!

    they improved already a good game and both of them for 35 euro on the xbox one i could not resist but to buy it and i do highly recommend it to my fellow gamers 10+

    Very good game. I played Metro last light before but The Redux one was Awesome and I haven't played Metro 2033 and I should say that it was great. Awesome Graphic,natural game-play, great Story.

    Another great remaster . This bundle was well worth the R500 that I paid for it . The gameplay is very fun as you play the role of a Russian who lives in the Metro . The stealth mechanics for this game is good which makes the stealth enjoyable . Both of these games have replay value

    if you own a Xbox one buy it the controls are way better then in the original version and that was my only problem with them and the horror aspect of the games is as good as ever maybe even better and it looks so good for a remaster both are amazing 10/10

    The enhanced version of a game that was already a masterpiece. Although loss of some options (such as bayonets) is disappointing, this is a truly worthy remaster.

    This is the best remaster I have seen. On Xbox 360 these was amazing games and now are even better. Story is great I love it. Last light story is weaker but still good. I like how both games look same. You can play it both stealth (more survival mode) and rambo (more spartan mode) style and for good and bad ending. Ranger hardcore is great mode when you don't have hud and can check your stuff just in diary. Everyone is also more powerful that make from this game big challenge. This is just single-player game which I prefer more. There is just one thing that isn't so good and so that Artyom doesn't talk. At the end this are really good games and second best FPS I played.… Expand

    Metro Redux is the remakes for the first two Metro 2033 games that were released on last gen systems. What started out as an under-the-radar survival horror FPS has turned into one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played. While it's not perfect, the game is easily one of my favorite games I've played in awhile.

While it's not perfect, the game is easily one of my favorite games I've played in awhile.
    The two games here are fairly different. While the first game introduces you to the world and characters of the series, the second game really lets loose the shackles on the world and gives you a memorable plot filled with characters that were well suited for the world they live in. The Metro games are set in a post-apocalyptic Moscow in the year 2033. Humans have to live underground in the Metro stations underneath the city itself to avoid radiation poisoning. Both games work very well to deliver a great story, moreso the second game than the first, and both really try to put you a realistic situation when you encounter some of the hideous monsters in the game. The survival horror parts of the game are really well done and do an adequate job of dealing out the scares while immersing you in the dangers of every little thing you encounter. The game really sucks you in and tries to keep you firmly in the belief that, no matter comes, you really can't do much of anything in the long term to save anything. It becomes the players job to push forward to hopefully find a way to save the human race. It's really good and the main character you play as through the game narrates the story as you go along. He does an admirable job in keeping the suspense going, even through the down times when you're in a town resupplying. Pretty much everything that deals with the story is wonderful and very suspenseful.
    The problems with the game lie in more of a technical design. While Metro 2033 is really old at this point, the second game, Last Light, was only released last year. However, neither game looks very good in the graphical department. In fact, both games look like they'd be at peace as a high-end PS2 game IMO, obviously moreso 2033 than Last Light since it is quite a bit older. Plus, getting English voice actors to play people with Russian accents was not a very good idea. Most of the characters in the game come off either over-the-top in their delivery or just phoning it in. It probably would have been better to just let everyone speak Russian with subtitles or lose the accents then leave us with what they gave us.
    Neither of these things are much of a reason not for me to recommend this game though. It's wonderful and I will be recommending it to anyone I know plays games in the future. Also, one final note: While children should not be playing these games in the first place as they deal with very serious topics and are very bloody, Metro: Last Light has a pretty good amount of Nudity in it, and at fairly surprising times. This is a warning for anyone who might be offended by something like that in their video games.    … Expand

    I never played metro redux before buying a used copy on eBay. It is an impressive and beautiful game. All around I can feel the dedication that the developers put into making the original computer game. The AI is reflexive on hardcore mode they put up a fight. I recommend the game even if it is a used game. Add it to your collection and rock on.

    If the accents bother you, which is a silly complaint, switch the spoken language to Russian and keep the subtitles in English. But you'll miss out on the side conversations that flesh out the game world. You're rewarded for taking the time to listen in, whether it's ovehearing a guard sympathize with people looking for news regarding their loved ones....or a neo-nazi justifying the murders he's committed in the past....There's a full blown society represented here, and they've done a spectacular job of paying homage to the source material.

    Take the time to explore. You won't run entirely out of ammo (or filters) if you take the time to explore, picking the pockets of dead soldiers or uncovering the keys needed to unlock hidden safes full of cash and supplies. At one point I had almost 500 units of currency and when I reached the next safe zone (station) I went on a mad shopping spree.

    The guns are well-designed and inventive. They have a wonderful "junky" appearance that supports the theory that they've been constructed by people forced to scavenge through the rubble of a dead city. But they're lethal, and have an appreciable kick (although I turned the vibration to "high" before I was happy with the recoil). Slap an IR scope and silencer to the Bastard SMG and you may never feel the need to upgrade to anything else.

    The stealth mechanics are well done, and the AI is better than most recent FPS titles.

    The only thing that frustrated me was the lack of documentation regarding the controls. For Xbox players, to access your throwing knives and grenaders, etc, hold down the Y button to access that navigation screen and hit the right bumper to actually USE what you've selected. Hit the Left bumper to wipe the gore and condensation from your mask. I had to poke around before I uncovered those bits.

    Regardless, here's the thing -- the people behind Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light introduced something DIFFERENT when these games first came out (imagine that, not another CoD or BF clone). They offered something fresh -- and desperately needed in a genre that's frankly been done to death. This redux edition is a reminder (a polished reminder) of how well they succeeded. Snap this up. Ignore the haters...they're failing to appreciate something special.

    What can I say about these Metro remastered duo pack; it is one of the greatest FPS experiences ever on the Xbox 1. I originally played Metro: Last Light on the 360 and loved it, but I never got around to playing the original Metro 2033.     While some may say that COD or Battlefield are the best FPS' to play, I would have to disagree 100%. Sure, they for the most part have slightly better fluidity when it comes to the game play, but what makes the Metro series special is a mixture of the shooting, the stealth elements, the atmosphere, and the story. I wouldn't call it a horror game, but it definitely has an eerie feel to the environments. The story is pretty good with the whole Dark One's concept and the factions fighting for control of the Metro system. Nothing too revolutionary, but it keeps you engaged nonetheless. The weapon selection is pretty cool and the fact that you can customize them is a nice bonus.
    I will say that this game is not forgiving on the higher difficulties, but that makes the game appeal to both casual and more hardcore gamer's. What keeps this game pack from getting a perfect score is the short campaign is both games and the lack of graphical improvement on Last Light. Overall, these are slight nitpicks that shouldn't keep you from playing both games. Highly recommended.    … Expand

    Awesome, it's like another half-life. At first, I thought it was a bit cheesy, but it got better and better. This is the first game ever to be able to scare me during a daytime mission, with all those creepy visions.

    Metro Redux is an excellent package it contains both Metro 33 and Metro Last Light. I never played the games on the 360 but when I heard about it for the Xbox One it caught my attention and I wasn't disappointed. Metro has an interesting story, the post apocalyptic setting can be spooky and the variety of enemies is interesting ranging from human to monsters.

    I have both new generation consoles. After The Last of Us, this was the best single-player game i tried this year. Amazing narrative, sound and atmosphere.

Game delivers so much mission variety, stealth and enough story to keep you going for hours.     I didn't like Metro Last Light as much as Metro 2033 so this is more of an emotional response to the games than a technical one. The games are great in so many ways but for me the emotional connection is more with the first game and so I wasn't crazy about the changes as I felt the impact of the game was diminished.     Haven't played the original only this remastered version.

    Very cool setting based on the books. I really enjoyed the setting and story it explained enough but also left things for you to speculate about. Very cool design of the levels and human life underground, weapons have an improvised look, this seems very realistic and everything together creates an immerse experience. Cool enemies and different difficulties. The levels have some alternative paths to allow both run and gun and stealth gameplay although not in every level. Weapon customization was really good.

    A few thing that where annoying where some unskippable POV cut-scenes and NPC's blocking your path that don't matter in the first play-through but lessen the replay value, should have an option to skip that in a second playthrough.

    The aiming/shooting mechanics in the game feel not as polished as some AAA title but after an hour you get used to it and there are good customization options in-game specifically for that so only a minor gripe.

    Overall a really cool experience and well worth the money IMHO.    … Expand

    To start with they have given you rather a lot of choice on how you would like to play the game giving you an option between playing in the vein of 2033 or Last Light, and this will give you a lean towards how your preferd style of game played, very good for them who had a preference, they have scaled up 2033 very well, and even last light which is only really a year old has had some very welcome touch ups to caricatures and environments. the console version really gives the pc version a run for it's money

    the fact that this game is only year old seems to have resonated with the developers because for people who have never played Metro before £15.99 is a steal if you only want to play one to start with and even both together is a great price

    Very impressive game still a second time round

Thanks to Deep Silver, I'm happy again, since they owned a lot of properties, like Saint Row, Homefornt (previosly by Crytek), and other enteries... The gameplay was great, the graphics look damn amazing, and engine lookRedux, was a fine shooter game, based on the novels...     This game is a work of art in the game industry, by that I don't mean it looks all pretty, although it does look good, but I mean the story, attention to detail and hard work that has gone into it. 4A games have put an incredible amount of hard work in to the remastering of this. It's not next gen by any means but it has a quality that a lot of games don't have these days.
    The fact that you get 2 remastered games for the price of when is a plus, and all DLC that originally came out with the old gen versions, is only the start. What you get is a solid FPS, great narrative and memorable experience. The story is addictive and you get a real sense of being part the world created. Which leads me to the point that I think stands out, the true dread of what is coming next. You will vulnerable, you will feel tense, but as you go through mission to mission you feel acomplishment. The survival horror tag is truly felt in this game, and the creators know it! If playing on ranger mode, you will have to be careful with your ammo etc, I nearly made it through a number of missions through the skin of my teeth, and had that fear that I was going to have to start all over again! Luckily I think they programmed this in to give you that sense, but it felt very close to call.
    I couldn't recommend this game enough, you will not be dissatisfied, and will want to get in the thrill again and again!

    Pros:
    2 games remastered for the price of one!
    Truly atmospheric game that keeps you gripped
    Very lengthy campaigns, especially last light.
    Survival horror at its best!

    Cons:
    Metro 2033's level design could of been a tiny bit better, but not by much!
    When's the 3rd one coming out!

    Overall I give the game a 9! Fantastic game, take it from me, play the games on ranger from the start, it gives a true sense of what 4A games were aiming for!

    I never got a chance to play the original releases but the redux bundle for €20 on the Hong Kong marketplace was to good to resist. The first thing I'll say is it would have been nice that a 2 game bundle was unified, however it doesn't detract from the experience. The remastered hold up really well despite these games being older titles. Initially the gun play feels a little strange, but you quickly remember that most if the weapons are make shift. Some ai animations ate dated and will provide some amusement, particularly in death scenes. There is nothing major to detract from the experience, if you haven't played either of these games yet and if you liked Wolfenstein earlier in the year then check out Metro Redux.… Expand

    It's the first game that really made me feel scared. That level in which you have to avoid the ''librarians'' and face them looking literally at death (just like Miller said) overwhelmed me af.
    The interactions between NPC's feel real and make you understand how bad their situation is. The atmosphere is amazing, and the plot is not too complex but well carried out. My complain is that even if everyone in the game tells you that the threat that mutants represent is huge, I feel like Rambo playing on survival mode and normal difficulty. I know I can get to the most difficult mode playing on commando, but I think a game must be criticized on the normal mode, hence I think that ''normal'' difficulty is the difficulty that the developers built the game around.
    Another problem is that if you haven't played the whole game you don't know how many filters you'll use, so personally I thought that the develop team made every level feasible without buying filters, so I got stuck in the last level, but I'll say that's my fault.
    I give it a 8/10 in the Xbox One edition because I had 3 crashes and had to replay the same level 3 times until I could finish it.

    Metro Redux is the best definition of how a remaster of a game should be. Both games are remastered and they both feel exactly the same because of this jumping from 2033 to last light is really smooth.

    overal the metro franchise is one of my favorite atmosphere first person shooter games of all time.     It nails it in the atmosphere of a post apocalyptic world. The way your mask gets dirty, the dialogues of hopelessness, the cruelty of some people make metro one true experience in the game's inmerssion.

    The gameplay is a little bit awkward, The guns don't feel that unique as they could have felt, your movement is very slow, they are very generic. Overall in terms of game play it feels generic and has an awful AI; except for the gas mask, a very good concept, and the survival horror aspects. The stealth sections are a very great miss.
    If you like slow paced shooters with survival horror aspects, this could be your type of game. Beware of the A.I. if this would have received an improvement as well as the gameplay, this could have been one of the best franchises of the last gen. It was a great opportunity with a bad gameplay and level design.    … Expand

    Despite the impeccable atmosphere, flowing framerate and gorgeous environments, this game doesn't stack up to that tier of game and honestly the whole experience feels very unpolished.

    The game can wipe the floor with you on the hardest difficult but can feel incredibly easy on one difficulty lower. You go from getting maybe 20 bullets in a section to getting practically 60 or 70 and the game literally needs an entire legion of enemies to kill you.

    Hard difficulty doesn't have to be a problem in a game if the sections feel achievable but these chapters really don't feel like they are well-made. Thrown knives miss enemies constantly, bullets sometimes do more damage than other moments and the game just feels inconsistent. Plus, the animations are clunky despite the well done atmosphere. Honestly the entire game feels reminiscent of games from the early 2000s with the awkward reactions and strange faces on the character models.

    I can get past these kinds of problems if the story makes up for the gameplay or the performance doesn't impair the experience. However, here the story seems entirely average and the script really feels staggered. Because of that, the dated mechanics stand out to me.

    I'm very surprised these negatives are never brought up in other reviews I have read because it is really all I notice from this game. Plus, the core gameplay really doesn't have anything interesting to set it apart from countless other apocalyptic titles except for some nice puzzle sections and moments where you use unique items.

    Pros
    -Beautiful, detailed atmosphere coupled with surreal music and pretty landscapes
    -Interesting puzzles and sections involving gas masks or lighting

    Cons
    -Script is often awkward and oddly written whether read through subtitles or spoken through the English setting
    -Enemy reaction and animation feels strange and very jagged
    -Steep difficulty spike or laughably easy, no in between
    -An inconsistent stealth system featuring no parameters of what will kill someone    … Expand

    After having played both the originals on the 360, i decided to give the Redux version a chance by bying it on sale. Having replayed both on Survival Ranger Hardcore, i truly believe and hope that some of the people involved in the Redux remake, must be fired and hopefully removed from the industry completely. The people responsible for the totally infuriating changes in levels like Outpost, Pavel boss fight, Chase, and some more, accomplish nothing but destroy the hard work of their colleagues, responsible for creating the unparralelled atmosphere and immersive setting of both these games. Definitely give these games a try, but beware and be prepared for your gaming enjoyment to be shattered frequently, due to ridiculous and childish design choises, masqueraded as difficulty spikes, made worse by the buggy ai, very bad hit detection, stupidly placed checkpoints (sometimes thy work, sometimes they don't), uninspired gameplay scenarios, not to mention the countless glitches i encountered for the first time in this release, with the night vision, character becoming unresponsive, and more.
    I really hope that the people responsible for these bad design choises, and also for the general tuning of the game, stay away from the upcoming Exodus, being replaced by more creative and capable individuals, along with the inspired people responsible for the world building and setting, so that this franchise will finally shine.    … Expand

    I didn't like it. Way to linear for my tastes and buggy as hell. The story was semi interesting. The controls felt sluggish. I just in general don't have anything nice to say about it other than it looked good. I suppose seeing the little side conversations was kind of cool, added to the atmosphere. Overall though just a waste of money.

    Boo to u positive reviewers that made me waste money in this game. Looks like and has the mechanics of a ps1 game. There is way too much narrative and things really jump around the screen if your not in the place the game expects you to be.

    This game felt too last gen. I haven't played the original so I thought I would enjoy this game but it just felt too old. Don't expect a high quality game as this game is just a money grabber

    A warning to those who suffer motion sickness when playing games: This one hit me hard. Massive headache after less than an hour of play. I'm sure it's a good game but it's not when I can't even play it.

    There’s no doubt that Metro Redux represents real value for money. Neither game is perfect and Metro 2033 does show signs of aging, despite the improvements, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t an entirely playable game which serves as a sort of hors d'oeuvre to Last Light’s main course.

    Metro Redux sets the bar high for what a HD remaster should be – not only a visual upgrade, but a gameplay touch up as well. Metro 2033 benefits the most from this, and owners of Last Light will have a tough time finding many improvements. Still, if you’re yet to visit the bleak world of the Moscow underground, there hasn’t been a better time.
