I'm blown away I'll say from the start. I'm a huge Mega-Man fan I'll admit, and I've seen tons of clones. I think I've about played them all as well. When I saw the 6.99 price tag I was really skeptical, and going into this thinking it probably wasn't going to be that good. After my first play through it really changed to this is only 6.99? It really is an amazing value for as much gameI'm blown away I'll say from the start. It really is an amazing value for as much game play and content as you get. I really feel this might be the best Mega-Man clone I've ever played. Its loaded with replay value, because there are three different characters you can play with. It's not short at all there are 9 beautiful levels to play through. The quality of development is just outstanding. This really feels like a Wayforward release, and you know the modern retro quality they are known for. I could see this being a $20 game no problem.
I'll start with the 3 Characters Erkia, Zeta, and Neva each one is so different then the other so each play through will feel entirely different then the one before it. This game gives you like 8 or 10 saves I can't remember, but I know it's up there. You are going to need them. You will beat it with each characters, and your friends or family will want to do the same as well so the saves will come in handy. Erika is my favorite she is mainly run and gun. She uses fire based weapons and special abilities. Her guns have a real Contra feel. I say that as a huge fan of Contra. She has spread fire that covers the entire screen, a flame thrower, and grenade launcher. These special fire modes use energy that you can run out of and have to pick back up. The abilities use a meter that has to recharge. All of these must be purchased using credits. You have to be careful though because these same credits are also your continues and this game is tough at times especially boss fights. Zeta uses Atomic Thunder basically lightning/electricity attacks, and Neva can fly with a jet pack. All of these characters are really well designed , and fun to play with.
The game is made up of 9 levels, and they look really great. They have that old 16 bit look to them, but still also very modern feeling as well. Colorful and beautiful to look at, but also satisfying for your retro cravings. They are all unique jungles, volcanoes, space, levels in the rain, and of course the snow. You can't have a game with out a snow level covered in ice to slide around in. You run and gun across these worlds trying to save it from a army made up of Lucian Corp soldiers. that have invaded the planet for it's resources to help with their galactic take over. The levels are made up of tons of different content. It isn't your typical run and gun platformer. There are vehicles you drive through level, mechs, even a spaceship that turns it into a space shooter for a limited amount of time. There is just so much here and why I can't believe the value. The platforming even feels like Contra at times as well. At times it really reminded me of the levels "Energy Zone" and "Hangar" and i loved that. I some times wish I talked to all of the developers like I do some love to know if that had any inspiration into the design. If maybe they grew up on some Contra as well?
The music and sounds are just as retro and beautiful as the level design. Its a really well put together soundtrack. The music never grew repetitive or lackluster. It feels just like the rest of the game really fresh. I enjoyed every song, and don't recall hearing any of them repeated. The controls and game play was also smooth and spot on. I only had one issue of a fatal error happening twice, and getting kicked to dashboard. After it happening twice It never happened again. I was able to play the next 7 levels error and glitch free. I can say with this a million times you aren't going to find a better Mega-Man clone at this price, and probably at any price. It's just an amazing overall experience I'll never forget, and I know I'll go back to over and over and over again.
Pros:

Really fun character, enemies, and bosses
Never feels repetitive, lots of content
Tons hidden items and items to unlock
Cons:
Froze a couple times on me, then worked flawlessly
Overall: 8.4
I've said it a few times, but I'll say it again one more time. Metaloid: Origins at 6.99 is the best Mega-Man clone I've ever played. Really at any price, but it's hard to not fall in love with that fact your getting a game as loaded and fun as this for under $10… Expand
