Many Faces is an interesting experience, with an intriguing random element and some cool hat-based gameplay. It could have had real legs, it could have kept me coming back for more - if only it didn't give all its achievements away so easily.

In the end, Many Faces: Console Edition is a solid game to pick up and play whenever you want a quick arcade shooting fix.

Before you can actually attempt to take on the 17 stages, and defeat the Big Boss, you have to play the tutorial first, this will explain all of the basics to you. Then you get to try and tackle the main game. The game is simply to shoot all of the enemies and try not to die. The stages are always randomly selected from the collective, meaning that every playthrough will be a bit different. The enemies are randomly selected as well, and each of the Many Faces you'll encounter have their own unique attack. Some enemy combinations can cause an almost bullet hell feel, so get good at dodging. The levels are made primarily of two blocks, the small cubes that are solid and you can drop through, and empty rectangles that fall away and come back after you've stepped on them. Every fourth stage you'll be met with a boss, that is also randomly selected from one of six bosses also with their own special attacks for you to avoid. Only after you've defeated them, can you face against the final Boss. The game is relatively short and can be beaten in about 3-45 minutes. Without a scoring system or times on your runs, there isn't a ton of replayability, other than to enjoy the game. Great time passer, with a small price tag for those who enjoy a good retro shooter.
