    First of all, I‘d like to point out the positive fact, that EA has reacted to their community by apparently trying to improve their Franchise mode. Hashtags such as #fixmaddenfranchise were trending and it is good to see them actually responding to this.

    However, the only difference you can actually feel in this game, is the different layout of menus and little additions such as the homefield advantage. This community desperately asks for a more in depth customization of their playing experience. The staff options are decent, but they were not even among the top 5 additions, that this community frequently asks for. I understand that EA or the NFL has concerns about customization aspects, such as creating a team with jerseys or adding tattoos. Yet these are the little things, that are possible on a technical side and EA had this stuff in their games over a decade ago.

    To summarize my point: it‘s the same game as every year, with some different menus. The gameplay and graphics changes are hardly noticable. Their "additions“ simply can‘t change the fact, that you get bored after less then a single season in Franchise Mode. Safe your money guys and lets just hope that the upcoming NCAA will simply copy everything they had in 2014 with better graphics. It‘s sad, but that would already be a huge improvement compared to every Madden after Madden 25. And if there is one wish I can ask for:

    Keep those Madden developers as far away from the NCAA-game as possible. Please EA, just do it for your community. It will be worth it.    … Expand

    Madden 22. Quite Possibly the biggest disappointment since Madden 06 on the Xbox 360. EA promised a breath of fresh air for this new game after the hashtag #FixMaddenFranchise went trending on Twitter. However, This game is terrible. The game is full of glitches such as Franchise Stats, not counting, players disappearing during plays, and menus lagging. Another big issue is Zone Coverage,Madden 22. Quite Possibly the biggest disappointment since Madden 06 on the Xbox 360. EA promised a breath of fresh air for this new game after the hashtag #FixMaddenFranchise went trending on Twitter. However, This game is terrible. The game is full of glitches such as Franchise Stats, not counting, players disappearing during plays, and menus lagging. Another big issue is Zone Coverage, defenders do not care about their coverage assignments making it possible to run one play and bomb every coverage if your receiver has more than 88-89 speed.

    Ultimate Team is back and even worse. The new feature in MUT is Strategy Cards. These combine physical and stat chemistry, making everything more confusing and forcing players to spend more money doing sets and getting these items. Also, EA changed the MUT level progression system, making it take much longer to level up, forcing NMS players to spend money as it takes nearly 40 hours to reach max level.

    Franchise has had some additions, however, these seem half-baked and are ripped straight from NHL 21. The biggest new feature will be the scouting update but EA has said it will not be released until September.

    The Yard, Superstar KO, and Face of the Franchise are the same with FOTF having a new cringe story.

    Overall Madden 22 is slightly better than Madden 21 but still gets a 0 due to its immense amount of glitches and lack of creativity.

If you accept the offer they start you off making sure that you can't possibly lose vs the cpu and before you know it you're building a team. From there you become addicted to spending money as youCan I rate this in the negatives? The game isn't really about football at all.     While the RyanMoody21 and SoftDrinkTv YouTube channels exposes just how fake fixed & garbage this game is. Allow me to explain further on this monopoly.

    The game is designed to keep you online as much as possible to increase the odds that you will spend money. Its best exploit is by not matching you up against players of your skill level or simply anyone, but they make sure that you play who they want you to play AND when you play, EA will help the team that they want to win. Why? I've never heard anyone explain this yet, but if EA can keep everyone's record close to even, everyone will think that spending money to attempt to get just another player or 2 that they will be able to dominate and tip the scales on their winning percentage. It never works that way though. You still win the same amount. Your new player will perform like a true champion but other players will be slacking. The new players play hard for a month when released and then EA slows them down which makes you want to upgrade again and then you find yourself paying EA again.
    There's a number of different types of crypto currencies in the game except this is not able to be cashed in ever. It just serves to get you to again reach for your wallet.

    All of the different game modes that were a part of Madden and the fun things you could do before Ultimate Team took off are gone. You can play without Ultimate Team but Ultimate Team is EAs ONLY focus with the game.

    EA puts out a pre-order edition every year but it's never based around Madden but particularly the ultimate team mode. Every load screen is another attempt to try luring you to ultimate team mode. Right now, you can win but this is the early access period. In just a few days, as sure as always, EA will change up the online matchmaking. At that point, go check all your friends records. You can do this all the way back to Madden 15 and what you will see is that everyone wins 45 to 63% of their games.
    Save your money. The game will be free in no time. Actually EA is already giving the game away for free. Here's how: go on Twitter and type in #MaddenNFL22 or #Madden22. You'll find endless people saying that they are giving away codes to download the game for free. Those codes are coming straight from EA because only they can produce them. This is yearly. They don't care about selling the game. They want you in ultimate team so they can make tons more from you via microtransactions. While plenty of people claim to not spend on their team, this strategy is calling them liars.    … Expand

For the love of football please give up the exclusive rights. Otherwise fire everybody, maybe then you’ll have enough “resources” to actually program a functioning logic system. Don’t waste your money just roster update your old game. It’s even worse on the next gen console. Like you can see the difference with other game developers, but ea(madden) have gone backwards. I’d rather settle for D listed titles just for my football fix, because then I can at least get a functional game. Ea you’re a dumpster fire on epic proportions. I’m sure I’ll be back next year with a hopefully a lower rating than 0…. That’s my expectations at this point… Expand

    Wow look madden 21 is out again. No wait, madden 20, oh wait, madden 15. Ah there all the same anyways. Still not worth the $60 roster update guys. Don't buy the game. EA is gonna have to do more than what they've done this year to make a good game. Just terrible. Can't even be angry anymore. Just disappointed.

    Couldn't be more disappointed with the next gen gameplay. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse last year a repackage of the same game with a $60 price tag. This more of a title update then a new game. Been playing madden since 2003 and this will be the first year I don't buy the game.

Gameplay is completely rng animation based; so it’s more like a Telltale game where you chose a play, set up pre snap, then click a button and hope for the rng animation to be in your favor. And zones are completely broken. One play touchdowns in bunch constantly. Please stopFor the 10th year in a row, this game was released with a ton of bugs and glitches without improving gameplay.     So I pre-ordered this game, was razor looking forward to it, EA promised so many new features, gameplay, etc. Well I was **** lied to, honestly the fact they're just scamming people outta their money at this point is disgusting. Don't buy this game, wait for 2K to release theirs.

    How do people get excited about Madden's most popular mode, Ultimate Team, when the only differences are visual? How do you get excited about an 87 Tyreek Hill card that was just 99 OVR a month ago? Do the "new" solo challenges feel fresh or do you enjoy playing buggy head-to-head games over and over and over?! Do you enjoy the other team disappearing from the screen or kicking an inactive ball around because neither team can pick it up? Then this is the game for you!

    People who believe this is a good game never played a good game. The standards we hold EA to as a football community are embarrassing when you see all of the refunds being offered for games like CyberPunk and Fallout 76. This game isn't good ... its a recycled version of Madden 19 (if not earlier).     It is the same game. Built on the same broken foundation. With features that were present decades ago marketed as improvements. This is the same “copy and paste” Madden. Where the engine picks an animation and you have no control, where the bugs that were present at launch 3 years ago are present this year. The NFL should pick a different studio to represent their game.

It is still completely animation dependent, a CB can be well behind a ER anf then morph into an animation. Where they are all of a sudden ahead of the receiver picking off the ball.     I only played this game for a brief instant when the ea play trial was going on and all have to say is I’m disappointed. EA is yet to fix the dumb founded dbs in madden which as a football player myself no game in madden is realistic. Not a single part of the game makes me feel like I am playing a simulation style football game. I just finished a game with 12 minute quarters, I destroyed the other team, only to come out to see the game marked it as a tie instead of a win. The gameplay is horrible. The ball is bouncing off of players, my linebacker has to make pre-snap motions as if it's making calls to other defenders, which keeps me locked in that animation. That makes me slow to pursue the ball. The QB fumbling is ridiculous. Interceptions are horrible, the interceptions are turned to 0 and somehow they still happen with a 99 overall QB. My receivers disappear in the game. They're in the depth chart but I can't use them. I had Davante Adams at 4 TD's, on the verge of the TD record, only for him not to renter the game midway through the 3rd quarter. EA technical support is better about responding but offering no real solutions. I pretty much got a "oh well, go to our forums." The games bad.

    It's really easy to tell the developers can't make a good game. I don't know if it's passion, ability, or having their hands tied from upper management. However, the result is an awful game. I've played Madden since the late 90's. Last year was one of the worst games i've ever seen and it received the worst backlash they have ever received. It is reasonable to expect their best effort this year. If this is their best, the game will never be good. Right now it's the worst of the major sports games on the market. NBA 2k, NHL, MLB the Show, all are significantly better. Save your money, you'll likely see this game drop in price in a few weeks because of the negative reviews. It's not worth more than $10, and that's only because there's no other options.    … Expand

I'll play it because it's the only NFL game available. NBA Live died because it got beat out by 2K, not because of an exclusive deal with the NBA. Why would I ever waste $ in MUT?     I enjoyed Madden (NOT 22) when I first started playing years ago, but I have been disappointed the past 7-8 years or so ever since animations have run/ruin the game. This game solely relies on animations (BiG SurPRisE), rather than actual user skill.

The game is so broken and lacks so much content compared to competitors, even other ea sports titles. Is the nfl behind making ea hold back on making madden great again? This once great franchise is rebranding so many things from older versions and saying it's new. I'm embarrassed to play it. Maybe ea made it bad on purpose to distract us from the billions of dollars made on mut and in game purchases? When I first played madden 08 as a kid I remember despite the lack of graphics loving the game! Since madden 08 the frostbite engine, micro transactions, and possibly a lack of creativity the directors and programmers over at EA have missed the mark once again. The game looks like a barely re-skinned version of madden 18. Although slight improvements have been made to FOTF, Franchise, and the run game playing madden on a current Gen system (or PC because that makes total sense) is paying for the equivalent of paying $60-$120 for some new bengals jerseys, rookies, and free agency moves. In this addition of the roster update we are left more disappointed than usual. I find it hard to believe that companies such as Ubisoft, Rockstar, and others are able to put out these breathtaking games with solid mechanics on the current Gen yet EA doesn’t have the capabilities to add momentum, better graphics, or pregame hype. It’s called a scam ladies and gentlemen, Madden 22 on the Xbox One or PS4 is a re-skinned, slow, roster update that costs $60 for a roster and a mod that would cost nothing. I’m disappointed in myself for buying this garbage again. Potentially see you next year.

    Incomplete game. Every time I lose a game in franchise mode, my players lose all stats. Which is a huge waste of 60 minutes, especially when trying to develop players. I traded Von Miller in week 6, two weeks later I have a meeting with Von Miller discussing how dissatisfied he is with the Broncos, in a Saints uniform. Just sad they release such an incomplete game.

    Immediately within minutes I realized wow this game is just as garbage as last year but worse the animations are atrocious zone logic is still broken pursuit angles are horrible and it’s damn near impossible to get a tackle for a loss in the run game because the tackle animations always drive players forward regardless of momentum this game sucks!!!

    Its the exact same game as 21 with more bugs... hopefully with the 2K competition we can see some real changes. The gameplay is stale, MUT is a grind, and reusing assets year after year is getting old. I miss when this franchise was fun to play.

    After talks of improving franchise mode I thought that the game would have improved greatly. I'm not sure how EA managed to make this game even worse than last year. This game is beyond buggy and every person who bought it should get a refund. I guess I'll continue playing Madden 08 on pc.

    EA, you have lost the trust, faith, appreciation, and respect from even your most loyal fans such as myself by your true lack of care, greed, and true effort of attempting to take advantage of your customers since Madden 13 came out. I said enough was enough when Madden 21 came out and ever since I have refused to buy this game because that would mean I would support the very company I have grown to despise so much by buying their product. Leaders in our community such as Ryan Moody have helped people such as myself learn the truth about EA and their exclusive (Monopoly) license with the NFL and if we want a good simulation football game ever again then we must fight back against the evil EA Sports. Join the cause by not buying Madden 22 and together we can help companies such as 2K get bank to doing what they do best. We can win the fight people, just continue to remain strong and determined. In emphasis if you buy Madden you are part of the problem. If you don’t buy Madden you are being a true part of the solution. It’s not hard, and it certainly isn’t complicated.     Can't overlook what they've done to franchise so good work to them on that, lots more to add but this is the right step in the right direction. Gameplay tho, way to heavy on animations are scripted outcomes. Double tackles by defenders, Dline suction tackling your RB when you're not even close to them(same for DBs) and let's not even get started on how little the defense plays, zones areCan't overlook what they've done to franchise so good work to them on that, lots more to add but this is the right step in the right direction. Double tackles by defenders, Dline suction tackling your RB when you're not even close to them(same for DBs) and let's not even get started on how little the defense plays, zones are nothing and man coverage gets beat when you have speed advantage(insert scripted animations) Oline still can't block and pulling guards/full backs still run right past thier assignments and you get tackled for a loss.     Madden has no customization. NBA 2K has expansion teams, custom conferences, uploading team designs and logos. Madden doesn't even have a create a team feature. Franchise mode has no depth anymore all they did was add a little bit of boring scouting features. EA desperatly needs some competition in the simulation football game because Madden has been terrible for almost a decade now.

    It's better than Madden 21 and while there are improvements in Franchise Mode, I feel like there could be more. And they made improvements to the gameplay. However, I honestly don't like the new home field advantage and the return of X- Factors. But overall, Madden NFL 22 is a very solid game.

    I'll start with this. From T.V Sports Football, to 4th and inches, to all of the Maddens, NCAAs, Joe Montanas, NFL Gameday series, NFL2ks, Qb Clubs, you name it, I've put massive hours into each and have had good and bad times with them all.

    That said, Madden 22 is better than every single one.

    Pros and Cons as follows:

    1. Player movement and Interaction

    (Pros): Player weight has been reintroduced, which factors heavily into your strategy as you now have to anticipate what your opponent is going to do and think about your pursuit angles before you fully commit. You can easily find yourself ineffective if you over or under pursue (strafe button is there for a reason, use it).
    (Cons): Gang tackling still needs work, not sure what happened to the "clean up" tackles that were introduced in next gen 21, they seem to have completely disappeared along with many of the "add on" tackles.

    2. Graphics and Equipment

    (Pros): Not too much to be said here, its next gen, it looks simply amazing.
    (Cons): Proportions of some of the facemasks are still off. They either stick out too far, or are too close to the face. Another small pet peeve of mine is the lack of tredcal thigh pads, huge oversight in my opinion.

    3. Presentation

    (Pros): Swipes/Transitions look great and are more in line with television broadcast. Camera cuts to the players as they're warming up before games is a nice touch. As well as in between plays.
    (Cons): Really need a halftime show at this point. Also, the situations in franchise are decent, but its deathly quiet and I think we could use some type of voice actors for that or atleast some camera clicks/flashes and some type of voice ambience in the room. I'm using my imagination as to what I think its supposed to sound like as the coach is answering questions lol. Face of the Franchise presentation should no doubt be integrated into franchise mode for one grand mode.

    4. Gameplay

    (Pros): Teams appear to play to their strengths. Taller/faster WRs are DANGEROUS and the A.I. WILL USE them against you. If there's a mismatch, its getting exploited no doubt, you HAVE to game plan. This is the first Madden I've EVER seen this personally. I found myself keying in on one particular WR, like "ok mother@#$#, you're DONE, this stops NOW", dude was killing me lol. Running game and lineplay are more organic/visceral and tense, you can shoot through small gaps or get stuffed, and I'm seeing various yardage gains from 1, 2, 3, yards to big chunks, 8, 10 etc, it feels great.
    Cons: Keep working on that coverage. You'll still see the odd decision from defenders in man and zone coverage. Some you can attribute to a blown coverage but there are some that you can't.

    This is all I have off of the top of my head for now. I'm sure that I'm forgetting something so I'll come back with a few additions and edits. I'll also copy and paste portions of this in different threads or across the net when warranted.

    Also, is there a way I can refuse future updates, because I have a great slider set and I like the way the game is playing now.

Once again here the game is filled with bugs and is even more unplayable than Madden 21. Franchise and MUT both suffer here as for Mut players they can't even buy packs to play The mode and franchise gets a never ending rotating camera view of the stadium in connected franchise. The football lovers and gaming community are done with EA at this point and i think this will be the last year many people buy this game but for people having hope you might as well quit as Roger Godell said they have a great relationship with EA and are proud of their quality so EA will not be losing the rights any time soon.… Expand

Stopped playing after 15 minutes and its 15 minutes plus the wait when it downloaded that i will never get back.. Maybe its been too long since i played a madden game but this game is broken..     Anyway this has given me a good opportunity ranting about something which I spent most of my summer baby sitting 7 year old girls who hated me and kicked me in some places where you dont want them to kick you to pay for which is absolutely terrible and EA sports should be ashamed of themselfs for a 0.4 user score.

    Will EA fix madden 22?

    Will EA put out a good madden title in the next 10 years if I gave them the chance?

    I have been playing Madden since Madden 92. It is extremely disappointing to see the state that this game is in now. you expect anything to get better with time, but not Madden. I have had every copy of Madden since Madden 92. My recent purchases of Madden was simply because it's the only "simulation" football game available. They are stealing the NHL and NCAA features and putting it in Madden. This is so sad, the glitches have become the norm and they claim that an update is coming in September for the new scouting in franchise mode. Given EA's track record, I don't trust them. I am also upset at the NFL for giving this joke of a company the sole right to make an NFL game. 2k is a million times better than Madden 22. I am so upset about this game that I am no longer a fan of the NFL and will never buy or play anything from EA again. I will never go to an NFL game as well.

    This game is better than Madden 21. Barely. The gameplay is practically identical to Madden 21s. The franchise mode has improvements, but they are all features that were in the game years ago. We shouldn't praise EA for re-adding features. FOF is bad, the storyline still super cheesy, just not a good game over all.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m a defensive player so this madden sucks. Mostly because you can’t tackle anyone. So many broken tackles in this game it’s annoying. You’ll have a player in the backfield doesn’t matter because the running back is gonna break and run for a first down. Another thing secondary doesn’t react to the jump button. I can count how many times I had my player in the perfect position to make a play on the ball and they wouldn’t jump. Instead I would get mossed and watch them score a touchdown. Also I think there needs to be some type of QB clock because I can have a team locked up on offense but a team with a bad O line will stop you from getting to QB and have them throw to open WR down field because my secondary can’t keep up. There is no flow to the game some times I feel like it’s scripted and the game knows when to attack and fall back. This isn’t a good madden. Crazy how madden 08 is better than EA has release in years.… Expand

    I'm old. I believe I have played every version of this game ever made at least a little. How does it keep getting worse yet still sell? I think it peaked in 2003, that was my favorite and most addicted I've been, and the building your own team mode for 2003 was better than this. How is that possible? Just no fun, too easy to trick the DBs with the same few pass plays, none of it feels fluid or exciting. Just learn the few trick pass plays and use the best team is everybodys online strategy. Building a team is no fun. They need to let other people make football games… Expand

    For gamers who haven’t purchased a new Madden title in a few years (and refuse to spend time hunting for a new console) this is a solid, thorough sports sim that still brings a wealth of gameplay to the table.

    Madden NFL 22 is another Madden game, with not many new features to warrant a new price label of $59.99. If you do not like NFL Football, you will not like this game. While known NFL commentators such as Rich Eisen lend their talent to this entry, it is wasted by being overshadowed by nameless voices called ‘coach’. Ultimately, if you own Madden NFL 21 and don’t NEED to play online, you could possibly skip this entry.
