I can remember fondly playing Lumines on my Xbox 360 and it was a game that I went back to time and time again because it was easy to jump in and play and the main thing is that it provided me with many fun and enjoyable moments in the XBLA days. Even though Lumines got a lot of praise on the Xbox 360, I must admit that I didn’t expect it to make its way to the next-gen consoles, but I’mI can remember fondly playing Lumines on my Xbox 360 and it was a game that I went back to time and time again because it was easy to jump in and play and the main thing is that it provided me with many fun and enjoyable moments in the XBLA days. Even though Lumines got a lot of praise on the Xbox 360, I must admit that I didn’t expect it to make its way to the next-gen consoles, but I’m glad it did because the game is better than ever. If you enjoy puzzle game’s then you will fall in love with Lumines Remastered immediately. The gameplay is supremely addictive and has a lot of fun moments flowing throughout it. You will also be pleased to know that the game has the perfect balance of being fair and challenging at the same time and you will very rarely find yourself getting frustrated or bored. This is a good thing because in terms of content the game has quite a bit for you to get to grips with and you will definitely return back to the game time and time again. One of the main reasons why you’ll return back to this game time and time again is because each mode feels very different and the amount of variety each mode possesses not only keeps things fresh throughout but it also keeps it interesting as well. Unfortunately the game doesn’t offer any online offerings though and this is a shame because I think an online mode would’ve been a perfect inclusion for this game. This is only a very small gripe really and in fact it’s probably my only gripe because everything else is spot on. Technichally you would expect the game to have a few issues, but I can tell you now that you won’t experience any problems at all. Everything holds up really well throughout your time with the game and the controls which are obviously very important in a game like this not only remain responsive at all times but they also remain tight and fluid as well. Something that I really liked about this game back on Xbox 360 was its presentation, and I’m pleased to say that the presentation side of the game is once again one of my favourite aspects. Visually the game has a very colourful look to it which fits the gameplay extremely well and when you combine this element of the game with the awesome soundtrack it without a doubt gives the game a lot of unique charm. At the end of the day Lumines Remastered has cemented the legacy of this game and as far as remasters go it’s absolutely brilliant. I can’t recommend this game enough because it gets all the important aspects spot on and even if you only have a slight interest in puzzle game’s I still fully recommend that you add Lumines Remastered to your Xbox One game library. Lumines Remastered is still a great pickup for those who enjoy the block-drop sub-genre of puzzle games. So take this chance to play it again, or play it for the first time. Either way, it’s a groovy way to puzzle through the day.

Lumines Remastered is the same good old game, but it’s back in 2018 and it’s better than ever. Mixing talent, puzzle games and rhythm games, Lumines Remastered’s only real flaw is that there’s no online multiplayer.

Lumines Remastered shows that Mizuguchi's masterwork didn't age of a single day, still resulting in a challenging and captivating rhythm-puzzle experience. It still shows some downsides though, like the relatively long load times and lack of an online versus mode.
