    More than a simple medley of appropriations, Lost In Random plunges us into an original and unforgiving universe where the fate of children is gambled with a dice. Thanks to a fantastic art direction, the six kingdoms of the world of Alea open up to us in the company of Paire and his magic dice and lead us to meet a multitude of far-fetched secondary characters. Paced by battles that turn out to be deeper than they seem and by a management of skills in the form of deck building, Lost In Random is a real pleasure to go through during the ten or so hours that make up its adventure.

    Lost in Random es un título que puede llamar la atención sin duda alguna por su estética. Aquellos que seáis un poco aficionados al cine,Lost in Random es un título que puede llamar la atención sin duda alguna por su estética. Aquellos que seáis un poco aficionados al cine, aparte de los videojuegos, conoceréis a Tim Burton y el diseño de este juego evoca de forma directa a las películas de animación del director americano. Las calles de las ciudades, los personajes que las habitan, todo tiene un deje a ‘Pesadilla antes de Navidad’ o ‘La novia cadáver’.

    Cuando lo juegas y te pones en faena lo siguiente que llama la atención es lo cuidado de la historia. Como te la empaquetan, como la presentan, con su narrador, como se hace con los buenos cuentos. Eso es lo que tenemos aquí. Un cuento de los de toda la vida con una estética oscura y pesadillesca. Una historia que nos sitúa en un mundo llamado Azar, con forma de dado. Con 6 ciudades que sirven a modo de mundos o niveles, cada una con sus propias tareas y subtramas. Aunque el hilo conductor principal son las hermanas Par e Impar. El tema es que todos los niños en azar deben pasar por un rito al llegar a cierta edad. La consejera de la reina se presenta y hace tirar un dado a los mismos. Dependiendo del número que saquen vivirán en su ciudad correspondiente. La hermana mayor de Par (nuestro personaje) saca un 6 y por ello debe viajar a seistopía, donde deberá servir a la reina. A partir de aquí comienza nuestro periplo para rescatar a nuestra hermana.

    Se podría decir que Lost in Random es una aventura que tiene que ver mucho con un RPG, sin llegar a serlo, ya que no existe un desarrollo de personaje entendido como tal, aunque eso es discutible hasta cierto punto. A mi me ha recordado a un Final Fantasy, en lo que es su núcleo, su punto de partida. El juego parte de su historia y va construyendo sus mecánicas alrededor de ella. Por ejemplo, aquellos que no os guste leer, es probable que no sea vuestro juego. Tendréis que seguir muchas conversaciones, puesto que es parte de la mecánica del juego para superar algunas partes o misiones. El otro pilar fundamental es el combate, que es una especia de híbrido, bastante innovador entre el combate directo y el combate por turnos. Mezcla de hack and slash, RPG por turnos y estrategia con cartas, debemos hacernos al sistema para poder superar combates bastante desafiantes en algunos momentos. Aquí es donde entra nuestro compañero de viaje. Par lleva consigo a Dadelio, una criatura con forma de dado que ya se creía extinta en Azar y que tiene un poder inmenso en este mundo. En los combates debemos disparar con nuestro tirachinas a los cristales que nuestros enemigos tienen en el cuerpo, estos son a su vez consumidos por dadelio llenando las cartas que llevemos en nuestro mazo, una vez llenas podemos jugar nuestro turno y jugar las cartas que hayamos llenado. Estas nos hacen entrar en la Dadimensión, en la cual se para el tiempo y podemos preparar nuestra estrategia. Podemos jugar una carta o la mano completa, en total 5 cartas, y las mismas nos darán ventajas sobre los enemigos, armas o hechizos para atacar o debilitar los. Hacerse al sistema de combate nos llevará un buen rato, en el momento que lo pilles y te prepares un mazo que se ajuste a tu forma de jugar lo dominarás tanto que se te hará un poco repetitivo. Aquí es donde entran las cosas malas.

    Lost in Random no es un juego perfecto. Es bonito pero tiene fallos. A mi personalmente se me ha hecho muy largo y lineal. También hay demasiados combates y estos hay veces que se hacen eternos puesto que el juego no para de lanzarte oleadas de enemigos cada vez más poderosos. Cuando dominas el sistema de combate en realidad ya no es un reto, puesto que la estrategia a seguir es básicamente siempre la misma. Llenar las cartas, agrupar a los enemigos, entrar en la dadimensión, curarte, dañar la guardia de tus rivales, colocar les una bomba, armarte y darles de hostias hasta que se te rompa la espada o la lanza y vuelta a empezar. Se echan de menos puzzles o una mayor presencia de los juegos de tablero que el juego a veces te pone a modo de prueba para poder continuar. Estas partidas hacen que tengas que variar tu estrategia ligeramente debido a las diferentes condiciones del campo de batalla, por desgracia no es la mecánica de combate principal.

    En definitiva Lost in Random es una aventura bonita, lineal y un pelín repetitiva. Pero es un juego innovador y es muy disfrutable. Si te gustan los RPG por turnos, las pelis de animación de Tim Burton y los juegos de cartas. Pruébalo. No está nada mal.    … Full Review »

    Lost in Random is creepy, it’s a 10 hour long card based action adventure game where you play as Even, out to rescue her sister Odd as they’ve been split up on Odds 12th birthday, where all the kids in town roll a die to figure out hwere in Random they’ll ive, she rolls a 6 and is swept away to live with the queen..
    Along your way you meet a dice, and you set off an adventure to git the dice more pits so it cann roll higher numbers, to eventually get to the kingdom of 6…
    youll also get cards to build of a deck of 15… these cards help in a variety of ways during combat, essentially youll hit weakspots with slingshots, fill up a card so you can roll dicey, the number you roll is how many action points you get to play a card such as having a word, or throwing out a bomb.. even healing.. just to name a few.. and youll do a mixture of combat and exploring these creapy tim burton like towns solving the problems of its residence to help you move on.. .
    The greatest aspct of lsot in random is its world building.. I loved living in thise creepy little land.. meeting its colorful cast of charcters.. however I felt like eventually it all just became too much.. I felt like I was mostly sitting through dialog, waiting for my turn to choose a dialog option that didn’t change anything in the world or its gameplay, it was just an artificial choice wasting my time, pretending it was important.. causing me to get bored about halfway through, just wanting to push forward and explore the world, but instead these charcters just wanted to talk and talk and talk.. I stopped caring.. skipping dialog just trying to move on, go to the next section to throw down some dice and mess enemies up, til that too became a bore.. combat here just isn’t satisfying, it’s a novel idea at first reminding me a bit of kingdom hearts unchained memories, I love the idea of deck building for combat, but with how slow cards come out, and how annoying it is to aim for weak spots on enemies in general in terms of all video games, it just felt like a slog at times.. Something I feel that could be fixed with these shtos of my slingshot at least doing a little damage, encouraging me to use cards to be more powerful rather than rely on them to progress forward..
    Overall I appreciate the world of Lost in Random, the characters are crazy, the world is intriguing, and there are many great life lessons to be taken, but the pacing from the combat to the story is just awful, its bad and brought this nearly great game down in my eyes.. not by much.. but I found myself noticeable liking the game less and less the more I played it…
