The story in this game follows the usual formula and once again it’s something that I really enjoyed, and once again I have to give credit to the voice actors who did a very good job as always. I was however a little disappointed that there was no bonus chapter which means the game is unfortunately a little on the short side. There is a lot more variety in the puzzles this time around and this definitely kept things fresh. I would however have liked the puzzles to have been a little more challenging and I must admit that they do feel a lot more easier than usual. I was also a little disappointed that they didn’t have any alternative to the hidden object puzzles and I think this would have benefited the game a great deal. They do however combat this though by adding some fun alchemy minigames and these minigames did a great job of breaking up the usual gameplay. Speaking about the gameplay they have once again made sure that everything remains fluid and responsive throughout, which is great. The presentation side of the game is something I enjoy every time from Artifex Mundi game’s, and thankfully nothing has changed here. Visually the game can look really beautiful at times and the accompanying sound design mixes with the beautiful scenes that are on offer really well. At the end of the day there isn’t much difference than the other game’s that Artifex Mundi have brought out and in a way I’m kind of glad because why change something that works. I will say though that if you’re not a fan of these types of game’s then this game won’t change your mind, but if you are a fan then once again you will find yourself having an enjoyable time. As far as Artifex Mundi game’s go this isn’t their best release nor is it their worst, but without a doubt it does enough to get a good recommendation from me. Expand

This is a shorter game than most from this developer but still fun to play. I never get tired of playing these games so a shorter game is disappointing but still doesn't deter me from buying these every time they come to the Xbox. They are all very special and fun to play and the longer the better.

Lost Grimoires 2 could’ve been a cut above the rest, but it lets itself down in familiar ways. It’s a real credit to the puzzling then that it’s still a very good game to chill out and get stuck in to.

Casual puzzle fans should enjoy Lost Grimoires 2, as it’s a title you can sit down with and enjoy in short bursts if needed, and it isn’t overly challenging. For experts in the genre, you may want to look elsewhere if you’re looking for puzzles that are going to stump you, though luckily playing the first game isn’t a prerequisite to enjoy this one. While this isn’t Artifex Mundi’s strongest title in the catalogue, Lost Grimoires 2 is a fun distraction for $10 if you’re looking to relax and try out your alchemy skills on a lazy weekend.

Lost Grimoires 2 is a sequel that carries only minimal ties to the game that preceded it, meaning that it is perfectly playable on its own or as part of the trilogy. The casual adventure title can be enjoyed by all audiences due to the simple nature of its gameplay. Neither the hidden object scenes nor puzzles are too complicated, although the lack of alternative to the hidden object scenes will be jarring for some. The transfusion mechanic makes a welcome return and provides the most challenging puzzles of the title, although there is nothing that will see players rushing for the hint button or a guide. The title is a more worthwhile experience than its predecessor, but there have been better games in the Artifex Mundi portfolio.
