Let Them Come is one of them games that turns a basic idea into an enjoyable and sometimes addictive experience. Nothing here stands out greatly, but that isn’t a bad thing because it nails the main aspects that you want to be nailed. The game has a decent amount of variety in a number of areas, and by doing this that means the game remains fresh and interesting throughout. Nothing here stands out greatly, but that isn’t a bad thing because it nails the main aspects that you want to be nailed. The game has a decent amount of variety in a number of areas, and by doing this that means the game remains fresh and interesting throughout. The enemies you battle in the game are great and each enemy has their own style and own way to hurt you. The game gives you an abundance of weapons and abilities for you to tackle these enemies, and I love how each different item offers you a different strategy. The boss battles in the game were very enjoyable and very clever in design. I was on the edge of my seat with each boss battle, which is what a game like this is meant to do. You will end up completing this game in about 3 hours, so the game is a little short and the lack of modes unfortunately hurts the replay value. The game can also feel a little unfair at times, but thankfully the controls don’t screw you over and they remain responsive throughout. The presentation side of the game is definitely something that tickled my fancy. The game has a doom-like feel to it and the visuals and soundtrack create a retro experience that enhance the gameplay very well. At the the end of the day Let Them Come gets everything you want right, and they have managed to set a price that’s both fair and appealing. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a game that you can sink a number of hours into, but the hours you do sink in remain enjoyable and exciting throughout, which is what you want from a game. Fans of old-school shooters will love this game and I certainly had a lot of enjoyable moments with the game so it gets a thumbs up from me. Expand

With a better upgrade/weapons system and slightly nerfed bosses, Let Them Come would be a fine experience — the kind of quick diversion players could drop into for a few minutes of alien slaughter here and there. Unfortunately, at some point in development the decision was made to prioritize challenge and droning repetition over playability, and the result is a title that can only be enjoyed by players who like spending time with games that hate them.

It may only grab your attention for a few short hours, but during that time, Let Them Come proves to be an enjoyable, uncomplicated and gore-laden alien blaster that has a certain 80s/90s sci-fi movie charm. There are far worse ways to spend six quid/eight bucks.

It’ll probably only take you two or three hours to make your way through Let Them Come‘s campaign, but it’s an absolute joy from start to finish.
