Layers Of Fear 2's presentation is near perfection, and in my opinion both the visual and sound design create an atmosphere that’s horrific, psychological and completely meant to be as twisted as what has been delivered. The original Layers of Fear I extremely enjoyed because it managed to scare me on multiple occasions. The original Layers of Fear I extremely enjoyed because it managed to scare me on multiple occasions. I was eager to play the sequel Layers of Fear 2, and as far as sequels go sometimes they fail to deliver a similar experience and sometimes they succeed. Layers of Fear 2 is greatly enhanced over the previous game, and an overall better game in all aspects. These enhancements were noticeable immediately as the immersion felt much more refined and the twisted nature of the game for me as a fan of the genre. Some players may find mild frustration from dying a few times, although I enjoy a challenge and thanks to the story I assure you that you will press on. There’s much more depth this time around, and when you factor in the puzzles that you come across you find yourself getting a strong sense of of immersion from Layers of Fear 2. If you’re looking for a game that enjoys to mess with your mind at every turn then you’ll thoroughly enjoy what Layers of Fear 2 has to offer. Recommending this game to you is very easy because as far as the horror genre goes this is a very good addition to the Xbox One family of consoles. Excellent work Gun Media, Bravo! Expand

This is not a horror game, just another boring walking simulator. I do not recommend.

Huge fan of the first game and the dlc. This game does not even come close to the first game. Not the least bit frightening and if anything annoying. I feel manipulated and cheated by a game that keeps interrupting the story and the tension with cheap deaths and pathetic and repetitive chase sequences. This game can't decide what it wants to be and suffers greatly because of this. DoHuge fan of the first game and the dlc. This game does not even come close to the first game. Do not regret buying it and hope they make more games with a focus on what they do right and stop trying to be a survival game , it doesn't work. So sad to say I didn't love this game because I sure wanted to. Expand

It's not a bad game, it's just played safe. Play the first game. It's new, easy to follow and really pulls you in with a twist at the end. This one does the same thing over again but takes longer this time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game honestly is good in art aspect for a horror game I like how you are portrayed as a director trying to build his perfect character Bei g haunted by his past failures and the damage it has brought to his what I can only assume family. Although this game lacks in it detail from start as you are kinda just thrown in and the puzzles get lack luster the more you go through the story. I like how the monster can kill you but it does not make up for the lack of scares after you get past the 3rd act the graphics are alright nothing that will blow you away and I feel like interaction could have been more improved because over time it just turns into a walking simulator like the first game. This game is not terrible by any means and I do think it's slightly above average so that's why I gave it a seven. Expand

this is a horror game? i dont think so
There is no story.no scary. not fun
Just walk from the start to the ending
    It was just boring
Bloober Team seems to be able to only imitate P.T.
    I only got frustrated.

A darkly poetic homage to horror cinema, but one that lacks its own identity. [Issue#179, p.89]

Layers of Fear 2 has a great horror atmosphere, but the game falls flat when it comes to gameplay.

Layers of Fear 2 feels like a step backwards from the first game, mainly due to many boring and/or frustrating sections that feel like superfluous filler to extend the game's length. And that's a real pity, as the game's concept, varied environments and graphics could have lead to a very good game, in par or even better than the original one.
