IN-VERT is a Hardcore 2D Puzzle Platforming World Inversion Game. You are a robot, and you've come to in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by inactive robots. You are a robot, and you've come to in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by inactive robots. You're memory slowly comes back, and you remember your creator, and you embark out to find and reunite yourself with your creator. The story mostly ends there and isn't the part that keeps you pressing on. It's the satisfyingly hard platforming, and tack sharp control that keep you enthralled. You can Jump, and shift dimensions, changing the world around you instantly. Jump height is tightly linked to how long you hold the button, and shortening your jumps is a necessary skill! In my opening line, I call the game hardcore, that's because you are going to die. A lot. Many of the jumps and inversion puzzles require perfection in timing and execution, and anything less is punished. Time between lives is insignificant, making death no more than a minor nuisance most of the time, as frustrating as it can be. The game's visuals are very simplistic, but add a certain charm to the feel of the game. Overall IN-VERT is an incredible little game for how simple it is. Puzzle platforming fans will enjoy this game beginning to end, a great addition to most game collections! Expand

What IN-VERT does well is that it provides you with decent entertainment at a great price. Without extra modes nor a very good story, you might give it a few hours and never play it again. The exclusion of level creation seems to really weaken the release on Xbox. This doesn’t mean it’s bad, it’s just missing what sounds like more than half of what the game is meant to be. If you’re hunting for achievements, you’ll be happy to know it’s quite an easy 1,000 Gamerscore you can get without even having to beat half of the stages.

IN-VERT on Xbox One is a bit of a rollercoaster. On the one hand, I think its challenging gameplay, tight controls and beautiful difficulty curve make for an engaging little platforming romp. On the other hand, the boss fights are bad, the story is pointless, and the wonky collision detection can be horrifyingly upsetting. However, also like a rollercoaster, once it was finished I felt satisfied.
