    Immortal Planet wears its influences well, Immortal Planet does enough with its story, setting, and combat that it cements an identity of its own. It's one of the most effective efforts at a 'Souls tribute that I've played because it understands and implements several of the design ideas that made those games successful, rather than focusing on obvious features like difficult combat. It's also a good game in its own right, which is obviously far more important. For gameplay, story, and replay value, I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes a good ARPG, as well as anyone looking for another souls-like to play on their Xbox One. So If you're not into ARPGs nothing here will make you fall in love with it but if you re a fan of the genre I'd say it's a must have for the quality and low price of admission.… Expand

    The isometric environments themselves are subtly beautiful. Dominated by piercing blues, robotic greys and icy whites, the whole planet gives off a pleasing sci-fi vibe, and every new area is just begging to be explored. With the world so interesting, it would be helpful to have access to a map, which is a feature absent from the game in another oversight. It’s little missteps like this that niggle at you whilst you’re playing the game, although they never come close to ruining what is a solid Souls-like experience. [Issue#187, p.82]

    Immortal Planet on Xbox One has style and decent gameplay to offer. However, it’s extremely difficult and requires patience to get the most from it, which can leave the player with an aftertaste of repetition and occasional frustration.
