Should you be after a very cheap afternoon of something bright, cheery and filled with tons of easy achievements, you can’t go wrong by strapping on your best adventuring hat and entering the world of Heroes Trials.

Disregard the game’s sickeningly inaccurate description. Throughout its entirety, Heroes Trials plays like a horrendously designed Zelda dungeon, complete with a shoddy story, lackluster visuals, and worse, combat that’s dire, and control feedback that’s ultimately imprecise. It doesn’t help matters that the game suffers from some pretty frustrating bugs and technical issues on top of that. Avoid.

In terms of content the game has a decent amount for you to get to grips with and for the price you do get good value for your money. While the story doesn’t have a huge amount of depth to it the story it does have has been done well and it’s interesting enough to keep you satisfied. I found the gameplay on the whole to be pretty enjoyable and each trial you have to do has a decent amount of variety present in them. The combat elements in the game are a little on the basic side and most moves fail to pack a punch. I would’ve liked to have been challenged more when it came to the puzzles because most of them are very easy to complete. While I enjoyed the challenging aspect of the gameplay the difficulty curve can be a problem from time to time. Once again we have another RPG in our hands on the Xbox One which is great in my opinion because I love me a good RPG. Heroes Trials then whilst not the best RPG I’ve ever experienced definitely does enough to be considered a decent addition to the genre and I’m sure fans of these types of game’s will enjoy what this game has to offer because the gameplay has plenty of variety. This variety comes in the form of different trials and I must admit that I did enjoy completing each trial even if the difficulty curve did cause me a few problems along the way. Accompanying these trials is also a decent story that does keep you interested throughout your time with the game which is pretty impressive considering the game has quite a bit of content for you to get to grips with. In terms of problems the game doesn’t have too many and my only real gripe is that I would’ve liked more depth present in the combat because the combat can get repetetive quite quickly. Despite this though when it’s all said and done Heroes Trials offers you an adventure packed with promise and when you weigh up the very cheap price tag of the game you definitely get very good value for your money and this for me definitely means I can give this game a decent recommendation, especially to those who like a charming RPG.
