There’s a decent variety of weapons you can use against enemies and the best thing is that each weapon feels and plays differently. I absolutely adored the hand-drawn art style and the sound design that accompanies these visuals combines extremely well with them. The controls are tight and responsive throughout your time with the game which in my opinion made the gameplay present even more fun. There’s a decent challenging side to the gameplay and even though I struggled a couple of times I never got frustrated because they got the balance between being fun and challenging spot on. I was a little disappointed with the boss battles in the game because I felt they lacked in terms of creativity and on the whole they just felt a little basic. The game was fun playing with other people online it did take me a while to find a game online. All in all I loved the first Guns, Gore & Cannoli because it was fun, humorous and daring, so as you can imagine I was chomping at the bit to get my hands on Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2. Thankfully I’m pleased to say that this game has carried on where the first game left off and to say I had fun with the game would be a massive understatement. There isn’t anything really different here than the previous game and in a way I’m glad. Once again there’s an array of fantastic weapons and enemies for you to use these weapons on and whilst I found the boss battles to be a little disappointing it still didn’t stop me from having a very fun time. In fact the fun remains high throughout the perfect length of this game and that’s because they get the right balance of being fair and challenging at the same time and they’ve also implemented tight and responsive controls as well. Without a doubt then Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2 gets a very big thumbs up from me and if you were a fan of the first game you will definitely fall in love with the game’s style almost immediately.

Simply put, Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2 is a good sequel that is worthy of your time, especially if you played and enjoyed the first game. It’s more of the colourful, bullet-heavy fun that its predecessor offered, and stands out amongst the heap of available indies on modern day consoles. It is repetitive, however, and doesn’t take too long to 100%. Even then, there’s reason to go back through with friends.

War is hell – unless you’re Vinnie Cannoli. In which case it’s just a delightfully humorous killing experience.

A solid and meaningful improvement on the already good first Guns, Gore & Cannoli, keeping the brilliant 2D design and adding more variety in environments, gameplay and level design. Online co-op is a very welcome feature, too. Definitely advised to any run-and-gun side-scrolling shooter lover.
