The first playthrough of Ghost 1.0 took around 10 hours to complete playing on classic mode. Players can expect a longer playthrough for higher difficulties, especially if you plan to collect everything. The $9.99 asking price is a blessing. Do yourself a favor and play this game! You won’t regret it.

If you love Metroid, good puzzles and a script that stands out from the crowd in this type of game, Ghost 1.0 is a game for you. However, sometimes it does not escape from imprecise controls and poorly managed difficulties.

Going in I was skeptical that a single developer could bring a vision this vast to life, but that’s exactly what has happened and bar a few small issues here and there Ghost 1.0 is a genuinely stunning game – it is certainly one that any fan of metroidvania will absolutely enjoy.

Ghost 1.0 at heart is a metroidvania and without a doubt I have a soft spot for these types of game’s so I was eager to get to grips with this game. Thankfully my eagerness quickly turned into enjoyment with this game because it gets the most important aspects spot on and as far as metroidvania’s go it’s a very good addition to the genre. Something that really surprised me about this game was the story it had. The story was absolutely brilliant and I was very impressed with how the characters evolved during my time with the game because they made me grow more attached to them, which is great. The gameplay on the whole is a very enjoyable affair and I was very pleased with the amount of depth it had. I was also very pleased to learn that on the technichal side of things everything ran smoothly. From the controls to each different mechanic the game holds up extremely well, and this for me was very important. The main reason why it was so important for me is because the game can be very difficult at times so obviously there are a few frustrating moments. As you can imagine then it would’ve been even more frustrating if there would’ve been technichal issues as well. Thankfully though I was able to get used to the game’s difficulty and when I did get used to it I had a very fun time with the game. I especially had a fun time whenever I got involved with the combat elements in the game. Defeating enemies never became boring and because the game has an high difficulty curve defeating them always felt rewarding. Even though the difficulty curve can be a problem at times I wouldn’t exactly call it a gripe, and in fact my only real gripe was the map. The map can be a nuisance at times because it doesn’t really help you when you need to find out where to go next and for me this is the only thing I would’ve liked to have seen some improvements made. One aspect that doesn’t need improvements though is the game’s presentation. Visually the game has an excellent sci-fi look to it and when you combine this sci-fi look with the excellent sound design you end up having a very immersive experience with the game. At the end of the day Ghost 1.0 is one of the most enjoyable metroidvania’s I’ve ever played. In fact It’s that good and it gets that many things right that I would even recommend this game to people who only have a slight interest in this specific style of game. Full Review »
