    This is an unexpectedly fantastic tactics game. I had an absolute blast playing this. The quality here is far and above what most games of this genre tend to be. The graphics are not incredible in general but for a tactics game they are very impressive. The cutscenes and story are on par with most of the gears series, maybe just a tad shallow but that's expected.
    My only gripes with this    This is an unexpectedly fantastic tactics game. I had an absolute blast playing this. The quality here is far and above what most games of this genre tend to be. The cutscenes and story are on par with most of the gears series, maybe just a tad shallow but that's expected.
    My only gripes with this are the progression is just a tad slow. You'll get to choose your team for every mission and you get replacement units after after mission that you can choose for the following levels. The problem is, you'll constantly get replacement soldiers that are very often far superior than the soldiers you already have. I was legitimately only able to keep one character that wasn't a main character leveled up enough to use consistently. And in order to do that, I had to use that soldier in every single mission I could. It's a very small problem, but definitely noticeable. A small tweak to the experience would fix this issue but it does force you to change your team frequently which I suppose some people may like.
    The missions get a bit repetitive towards the end game and I grew a bit tired of the mandatory side missions thrown at you between every story mission but all in all, it was a really, really fun experience. I can't say enough how impressed I am with this game. Usually with these spin off titles, you can expect a watered down, low effort experience but that is definitely not the case here. The game looks awesome, plays better and has fantastic mechanics that definitely feel like they belong in a gears of war game. I absolutely enjoyed this game and would 100 percent recommend it to anyone that is a fan of XCOM or turn based strategy games. Even if you aren't and just enjoyed the Gears games, go ahead and give it a try because this game does a fantastic job of continuing the story and implementing things that are core to the gears experience in every bit of the game.    … Expand

    2 reviews on Xbox as of Jan 30th 2021? The journalist elite class in every aspect of life are so pathetic. Their noses were too high in the air to notice there was an xbox peasant version.

    It is the best game I have played on xbox. I grew up using PC for gaming. The implementation of this type of games xbox is perfect. The game is challenging (on hard) and fun. There are many tactical options.

    A super fun tactics game that truly feels like Gears. Arguably the best tactics game on consoles. My only nitpick is that The Coalition’s art direction since they took over the series is such a step down from the first 3 games.. but once you’re in combat it’s easy to forgive.

    Awesome graphics.
    Great turn based strategy game filled with gore.
    Im not the biggest gears fan and i definitely wasnt expecting much from this title especially as a console game.
    What a welcome surprise. Give it a go, if you arent liking it by the third chapter then it probably isnt your thing but iv loved every second, looking forward to ramping the difficulty up on the next play through!

    Отличная игра для фанатов вселенной Gears. Было приятно вернуться во времена сражений с саранчой. Геймплей интересный, графика отличная, по подписке в Game Pass. Всяческие рекомендации.

    Excelente juego, gráficos, historia, diversidad, jugabilidad, sonido, gran gran juego muy recomendado si te gustan los juegos por turnos y estrategia

You are forced to take characters on missions and are capped sometimes on how many, unlike xcom you can field six and are attached to these characters, more is always better. But in this game, you are forced to care and use characters you never created or wanted which creates little attachment.

    Its certainly not on xcom`s level but has some similarity in gameplay but doesn't get me excited to play it again straight away. If abilities and weapon upgrades were more like xcoms it would get a higher score but the story needs to be way more interesting to be on par with xcom which gives you far more to do including base managing.    … Expand

    One of the best strategy games I have ever played and this is coming from someone who has sunk hundreds of hours into Xcom and other strategy games. The new mechanics they have added are fun to use and provide a unique experience to any other tactics game on the market. I enjoyed every minute of gameplay.

    If all you want is XCOM-style combat set in the Gears universe then Gears Tactics will be sure to satisfy but just don't expect it to offer a fully-featured immersive campaign that's anything beyond simply beating mission after mission.

    Gears Tactics on Xbox is one of the best attempts to craft a new turn-based squad shooter game. A rough-hewn, challenging game with a long campaign and lots of options to customize your characters, along with a whole new game-mode, means that Gears Tactics is a must play game for any fans of the Gears universe, turn-based strategy titles or squad tactics games.
