With jaw-dropping graphics and a perfectly blended soundtrack, the atmosphere of the world is uncannily captured. The character progression throughout the series is one of the most gripping parts of the story, and watching the history of the world unfold before you has given us the best entry the franchise could ask for. The physics are clean and precise, granting gratifying game play. The multiplayer never fails to deliver intense high paced cover based shooting, and seriously brutal action. Horde is even more refined, granting players even more freedom in their strategies and roles on the battlefield. Escape is different than anything I've experienced before. Willingly you go into the depths of the swarm hives and plant a poison emitter and escape from them and the growing cloud of poison starting with no more than a pistol. GEARS 5 is a must have addition for every fan of the series, and will bring new fans from almost anyone that experiences it.     What can I say? Gears 5 takes everything that made Gears 4 great and makes it better while adding something new. The visuals are stunning! Some of the best seen if not the best on any console and the story telling is also top notch. If anyone had any doubt that The Coalition are capable and worthy of having taking over the job of handling the Gears franchise, this game should lay thoseWhat can I say? I still can't believe that people can be so petty. I originally gave this game a 9, but I decided to get it a 10 to negate some of the negative ratings from people that I'm sure haven't even played or have no intention of playing the game.    … Expand

    Pretty graphics, dated art direction, lacking any destructability and physics. The open sections are empty and pointless, game in reality is the same old gears we have seen many times before. HDR is a highlight and is very well done and the game is definitely a step up from Gears 4.

    I don't know the last time I rated a game a 10 - I'm not convinced I've ever done it, but here we are. I think part of it is because Gears 5 is just outperforming my expectations by a country-mile. Gears of War 4 hadn't really blown by skirt up in that it was a decent Gears game with a decent story but I kept feeling like the formula was feeling a touch stale. I think part of it is because Gears 5 is just outperforming my expectations by a country-mile. Gears of War 4 hadn't really blown by skirt up in that it was a decent Gears game with a decent story but I kept feeling like the formula was feeling a touch stale. Gears 5 would be in trouble for feeling repetitive but this time, the story is EXCELLENT, the voice acting is actually high quality, and the level design throughout it a huge win. And I'm roughly 13 hours into the campaign (almost done with it) and yet I still have the final chapters to play. The variance in gameplay, the dynamic pacing, and the deeper storytelling (with an awesome reveal of how the Locust Horde came to be) is what really puts this game a cut above. I think this game was sorely missed by a lot of gamers out there. The multiplayer continues to be roughly the same. There are some mild changes/updates, and with newer Xbox hardware everything plays silky-smooth, but otherwise, that aspect of the game seems to not be any major shift - and that's probably fine for most people. For me, the campaign becoming a bigger deal is what will make this game memorable and worthy of a replay. I know campaigns aren't always the highlight with social/multiplayer play being such a key focus these days, but Gears 5 has a story to tell and it's definitely worth tuning in for. If you're just trying to push through and not sink too many hours into that part of the game you'll be happy to know that there are ways to bypass "accessory missions" which are meant to equip you better down the road but are not mandatory to be successful. Still, I spent more time on the campaign because I spent time gearing up. Speaking of which, the significance and utility of Jack is something of a revelation for this series by giving you some cool future-like technology without interrupting the feel of the game.… Expand

    The Coalition are doing a great job with the Gears series, 4 was good and all but I think they made some great changes for 5. Having Kait as the main character is much more interesting than JD, her heritage and what implications that has for the game's world and characters is a great mystery that I can't wait to see more of in the next game.

    Absolutely incredible campaign that stands magnitudes better than the last game and up there with Gears 2 & 3. This is The Coalition at its best. The new open world elements are a welcome addition and I look forward to how this evolves in the future.

    As for the complete package, Horde mode is better than ever.     The coalition has added so much to this entry that it'd take multiple breakdowns to go into the arguably important details but here I will try and summarize it all.

    The multiplayer, which has always had a difficult time being accessible to most players introduces modes like Arcade that puts a hero spin on itself introducing abilities and would-be super moves to some classes that are also new to the series. This mode creates an offshoot multiplayer mode that services players who are not interested in the pro-circuit stuff Gears of War has normally had as a staple of it's multiplayer component.

    Arcade mode deemphasis the use of the Gnasher shotgun as the biggest declaration of change from the formula for one, and adds varying range to the engagements with the aforementioned abilities while making use of the longer range weaponry that's tuned differently in the standard multiplayer modes to accommodate the Pro scene.

    That said, the traditional multiplayer offerings are also on tap and rebalanced in ways that do not compromise what the pro players like while also creating a slope to the high side of the skill climb. Tweaks like lowering the clip of the gnasher while also creating a path for use for ranged weapons by having their behavior controlled by the players ability to understand it's roll in the game does wonders to make the game learnable without expecting someone to master the gnasher or die.

    This comes from removing the random shooting patterns in the ranged weapons and replacing them with patterns that must be learned to get the most out of the shots taken for example. This leads to a multiplayer experience overall that is as approachable as a Gears game has ever been by remedying the normal mode making its skill slope non-intimidating AND creating an alternate mode for those who want something entirely different while still remaining a top tier third-person shooter.

    The third mode in the package is Escape, this is the sleeper hit mode within the entire game as it is a run-based missioned structure mode where instead of defending you and your friends are on the offensive moving through a "level" clearing out enemies on your way to escaping.

    The premise is you and your team have set off a toxic bomb within an enemy base, what you and your team must do is get through the level fast enough to outrun the poison gas creeping up behind you as you push towards the exit. These levels are varied and almost limitless in their potential as there are almost infinite versions of them due to the sheer amount of layouts The Coalition (the studio that made the game) has created for it. It is about as excellent as a co-op mode there is since it borrows from such concepts from games like Left 4 Dead, Evolve (minus the player controlling the enemies), World War Z, or the strikes in Destiny 1 and 2.

    What adds to this mode even more is that you total control over custom matches to control and create your escape mission as you see fit, think Mario Maker but in Gears of War, it is excellent.

    Horde mode has also been revamped to make it so much less of a tedious grind to level up and make your way to the higher difficulties. In Gears of War 4 the biggest complaint was that you had to level up your way before being able to complete the higher difficulties whereas here in Gears 5 the classes and defenses are complimentary hybridizing the best of previous horde modes creating a far more varied experience depending on the groups skill as opposed to it being a damage check dungeon type encounter. The progression here is deep as classes, skills, and defenses all return with their own compartmentalized progression for your to sink your teeth into. This allows for every run to be meaningful no matter where you and your team are in your progression while also incentivizing you to make it to the top of a class before doing it all over again with a different class as well.

    This leads to progression overall, which should be commended here, it works like I mentioned above across the board. There is no "barrier to entry" so to speak to any of the games modes.

    You're never working to gain access to the modes or their respective challenges but always enticed with worth while improvements and progress to compliment all you take part in.

    Now the campaign, I will not say a thing here other than to say go in blind and see it for yourself. It is grand, it is a spectacle, it is also the most well written and executed Gears narrative since we first got introduced to this world.

    The game started off slow, but by the end of ACT I, I was really excited to play more. The action and the story just intensified. To knock it out of the park, I turned on HDR during chapter four and I was just in awe of the colors. When I first turned on GEARS 5 without HDR the game was beautiful, now its just insane to look at. If you have not played the game yet, do yourself a favor andThe game started off slow, but by the end of ACT I, I was really excited to play more. The action and the story just intensified.     Nunca achei que diria isto para este jogo depois do que vi em Dezembro de 2006, (gear of War) olhava para o Xbox 360 e em seguida olhava para a TV ao lado e assim fiquei por minutos. Mas sim, é o melhor GEARS já concebido até hoje. Parabéns The Coalition, parabéns Microsoft, é deste modo que mostram que estão verdadeiramente dispostos a serem a empresa com o console número 1.     Tive a experiencia de jogar no xbox one X apenas a campanha, os graficos estão incriveis e a jogabilidade fluida e divertida. O jogo tem bastante conteudo e vale muito a pena. Para mim o melhor exclusivo do Xbox one até agora.

    A fully loaded cinematic story driven campaign mixed with the most deeply competitive multiplayer experience.

    You wont JUST find a great story here... verses, horde and hive modes will keep you playing this game for 100s of hours

    El juego me sorprendió, la historia me mantuvo pegado de mi control. El gameplay se siente bien afinado, gráficos impresionantes ( jugué en PC y xbx original) y en ambos tendrás un excelente experiencia, (no se cómo lo lograron en la Xbox original)

    By far it’s the greatest gears game ever even far more superior than the original gears of war , even though i’m not that fan of third person shooters you’ve got to love the excitement that this game gives to you when you finish an enemy with the retro lancer it just give you the chills , plus if you are new to the gears franchise I totally recommend this one and you will not regret it .

A história foi abordada de uma forma muito mais profunda que os títulos anteriores, tendo personagens muito mais interessantes e uma estória que instiga o jogador a querer saber mais de tãoA fórmula de Gears já estava desgastada e eram necessárias inovações, após o sólido Gears of War 4, a The Coalition chegou com Gears 5 e um jogo que, com toda certeza é o mais ambicioso da franquia. A história foi abordada de uma forma muito mais profunda que os títulos anteriores, tendo personagens muito mais interessantes e uma estória que instiga o jogador a querer saber mais de tão complexa que parece ser. Com um dos gráficos mais bonitos da geração de Xbox One/PS4, a qualidade do visual do jogo é inquestionável e a adição de áreas de mundo aberto foi muito bem-vinda, contendo missões secundárias que ajudam muito no fortalecimento do robô Jack, que controlamos durante a jornada com Kait, além de terem colecionáveis com informações curiosas sobre determinados aspectos da estória do universo de Gears of War.
    É o jogo mais completo em toda a franquia, com uma robusta campanha e o multiplayer mais diversificado já visto, uma pena o jogo ter passado por diversos problemas técnicos que impactam o desbloqueio de conquistas, o salvamento de progresso, a inteligência artificial de inimigos e aliados, desconexão nas partidas online, entre outros infortúnios. Felizmente a desenvolvedora está trabalhando duro para corrigir esses problemas, a maioria dos problemas que sofri durante o acesso antecipado não ocorrem mais comigo, considerando que houve grande ambição nesse projeto e ele ainda assim continua tendo tantos pontos positivos, os pontos negativos acabam não negativando tanto o desempenho do mesmo, porém impedem que Gears 5 se sobressaía muito diante de seu antecessor quando colocamos as notas nos papéis, que teve uma campanha sólida, mas fraca e com personagens extremamente rasos, entretanto, Gears of War 4 não enfrentou problemas técnicos nem um pouco parecidos com os de Gears 5. Facialmente estabelecido como um dos melhores jogos da geração em que ele se encontra e mantendo seu pódio como a melhor franquia TPS existente, Gears 5 é disparado o melhor trabalho da The Coalition até o momento dessa análise.    … Expand

    Gears 5 is an odd thing; it's neither a grand leap forwards, nor a complete rehash of what came before, and therefore sits somewhere in the middle of the two. On the whole, the improvements do outweigh the negatives (the non-linear approach to campaign levels and the small changes to horde mode being some of the most notable), and while The Coalition still has some work to do to really make the series its own, this is a far bolder and more varied approach the relatively safe Gears 4. If you love shooters and you want a good place to jump back into the series, this is perfect place to work the rust out of your lancer.

    Gears 5 offers a solid portion of brutal action with several refreshing new things. If you have intentionally avoided games from this series, the fifth sequel probably won´t change your mind, but if you are looking for a quality action game and you are still a fan of multiplayer, try it.     Gears 5 proposes a breathtaking solo campaign and a generous array of multiplayer modes. Even if the recipe remains classic, we really want to go through with it. The characters are rather well written, the environments are often spectacular, and Jack the robot adds some salt to the gameplay. A visual feast and glorious action game that perfectly demonstrate Xbox One X's true power.
