Putting its slightly awkward handling and its tendency of dishing out cheap deaths to the side, Furwind goes on to get a lot more right than it gets wrong. The game sports quite a commendable amount of variation across its levels, its enemies, and its mechanics, and blends in a solid pace to keep things grounded, challenging, and fun. This may well not be the most sophisticated of platformers, but it does indeed provide a worthwhile adventure.

For the price, it’s a game for platforming fans to check out. But be wary that by the end, you will have experienced most of what Furwind has to offer… three times over.

You play as Furwind, a fox, tasked with fighting off the ancient darkness encroaching on the forest. Adventure through several different kinds of levels, unlocking new stages as you progress along. It's important to search every level top to bottom in Furwind, because the Challenges (needed to progress) are locked away on two scrolls per stage. Don't let it's cuddly exterior fool you, the game is old school platform jumper hard at times making you take the pixel perfect jumps, timed against the patrol of an enemy. The 'Bosses' vary widely and all have a pattern or flow that when figured out makes them fairly easy, but be careful some can be a bit tricky. The Narrator doesn't read what's in the book, but I feel like what he says is better worded. The way the in-game voices were utilized amused me for quite a while, especially the Snail Rider. Furwind delivers a lot with a little, the world isn't huge but the way it's put together provides quite a bit of level exploration and challenge. For hours of formidable platform adventure Furwind delivers a fun, challenging, and enchanting experience. Full Review »
