Even with some of the same reused carboard cutouts for fans, these minor blemishes are easily overlooked because of the attention to detail in the areas that truly matter.

Sound design is as good as ever, with crackles, burbles, and all the intoxicating sounds to make every race all the more exhilarating. The music is more carry over from Forza 5, and I prefer it off, but it is refined and made bearable for those that love some epic scores set to their races. The menu music is soft and sets the "calm before the storm" mood perfectly.

Gameplay and physics are amazing, cars feel like they have weight, tires feel like they have a limit and the puddles change everything when hitting them.

Overall, anyone with a Xbox One that may even be remotely interested should pick this game up. And for those that do not have a Xbox One and love racing games, should buy one. Forza 6 is that good.

What can I say. The best Forza ever, the best racing game on this generation of consoles. Forza 5 seemed to be unfinished work. Forza 6 is a different story. That's the beauty in pure form.

    - Car handling may look the same from youtube, but trust me it is so much better than Forza 5's. I can actually drive the 458 and Ariel Atom this time. Suspension and steering feel on a controller at least is much better, as if they now tell you what is happening to the car, then you know what to do to fix it and it works like clockwork.
    - The puddles with the rain may sound gimmicky, but they really do change up the course. E.g. a large pool of standing water on a highspeed kink forces you attack it at a different angle lest you slide off the track, which makes things interesting when you're 2-wide with an opponent.
    - Night, I like how dark the place becomes. And racing with cars that don't have headlights online is just hilarious fun.
    - 24 car races may not make the biggest difference in single player, but online it makes it much more exciting. Well, unless you only want to win, because it's really hectic. Personally I find it enjoyable ducking and weaving through massive pileups, and there's more chances of finding someone to battle it out during a race.

So far, for me, this is the best forza motorsport yet. However there are people who want certain features e.g. auction house, storefronts, car gifting/clubs, being able to select cars for ai to drive, to return. Along with that, there is still room for improvement for the career mode, making it more structured like codemasters racers, and adding qualifying so that sp races aren't overtake simulators all the time.

However, for what it is, it's still a robust racing game that has a large car list with wide variety, and every car is modifiable, leading to endless possibilities of four-wheeled beasts that you could drive on 26 of the best circuits around the world.

I used to love playing GT back in the day and NFS, also great games but I can only play them so much. I just wish they would bring F6 to pc. And GODDAMN those head and taillights look good at night. Not sure how they're going to top this one. Bravo Zulu.

The highest point in the Forza franchise, a masterpiece. This is without a doubt the most beautiful, smooth, pleasant racing game on console.

There seems to be a lot a bashing of this game due to the lack of dynamic weather.. I for one don't see the issue. The majority of races in Forza are so short that the weather remaining constant is more of a reality than radically changing.

The new mod system is unnoticeable, none of the dares make huge impacts and to me it seems they were added to Aline the game with what halo 5 has done with adding REQ packs to the war zone mode, the only difference being that Halo 5 makes it worthwhile. the most annoying part of this game has to be that it was given a large graphical upgrade compared to 5 yet they came out on the same console, and like 5 and Horizon 2 this game has hundreds of 4-6 race championships that are painfully repetitive.
I would advise picking up Forza Horizon 2 instead, its open world, has a great soundtrack, a story mode with the single player experience and is way more fun. Forza 6 takes itself too seriously, which makes it extremely boring. If you need something else to do while binge watching on Netflix than this is the game for you (That's How I got through the first 50 hours of play time).

Just a generic speed rating.

I got fed up and quit playing for a long while. Then I gave Forza 6 another try, and found a drivatar setting that turns off aggressiveness. I run it at above avg or one step higher and usually get into 1st place within the first lap, so that's a good sign. But, any AI level higher fakes the cars rather than increasing actual driving skill which ruins the experience. The AI cars still crash stupidly around every corner. Such terrible AI. But at least they don't actively go after you with that setting turned off. They still accelerate without regard for the car's actual capabilities. Fake challenge.

Drivatar AI is so stupid it's almost unplayable solo in career mode. Out of 23 cars, the bottom 12 will just try to ram you off the track while the top 12 will speed up or slow down %-wise regardless of the cars' capabilities (such as top speed, which is ignored). This is supposed to be semi-pro/pro racing, and half the cars ram right into the player!? And Turn 10 thought that was a good idea? AS if that's how pro racing works? What is this, Daytona USA, circa 1995? At higher difficulty setting, the top 2 cars will accelerate like Star Wars pod racers regardless of the car, and then if you manage to pass them, they suddenly seem to have engine trouble because they fall WAY behind quickly.

Another thing that irritates me is you get a ton of money and free cars and really don't even have to work for them. I get that Turn 10 wants players to experience a lot of cars but there used to be a challenge to it. I also miss seeing ACTUAL component names and performance data. Now it's dumbed down to the point it's not fun at all for a gearhead. Since when did Ford make a 5.7L V8? Or a V12? That ruins the fun for me further beyond the driving problems.

Previous Forza games used actual hardware from real companies for upgrades, like Roush and Saleen equipment to upgrade Mustangs, and real Ford engines for engine swaps. Instead, it looks like every category has the same generic 5.7L engine upgrade: Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. Unless I missed something. That sucks. For the Fords, you should see the 5.0L (GT/Boss 302), the 5.2L GT350, the 5.8L GT500, etc engines. Such a shame. So much potential. And where is the Boss 302 Laguna Seca? Where are the REAL cars? After the 12th Lambo I have lose interest in supercars and want a real-world driving experience pitting real American cars against other real American cars--or maybe an exotic from time to time. No luck, the cars are too limited.

Forza 4 was far superior to this game in the most important aspects that matter to a racing fan. From the car upgrades to the car SELECTION to the AI, this is a downgrade. Besides larger scale tracks with dust and night and rain, the graphics aren't far enough beyond 4 to accept the dumbing-down of the game to this low level.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disappointed to say the least. I'm not what you'd call a big gamer but have always enjoyed racing simulation games (not arcade) and every once in a while I do get addicted. Forza 4 was one of them. The mix of Cars, Gameplay, Career mode, Upgrading, Time attack, Graphics etc was fantastic at the time and eventually found myself quite high up leaderboards on most tracks in most classes of car. Now to Forza 6. After reading many great reviews and seeing the game I thought yep buy an x box one and Forza 6. Wrong move. First what's good about the game :- Yes the graphics are amazing, the amount of cars to choose from is also great, the fact you have rain and night time is also a nice addition but all that is superficial because what made Forza 4 great was the way you could drive the cars with precision shaving tenths of seconds of a lap to get higher up a leaderboard. The only problem usually came by just catching a yellow line by a fraction. With Forza 6 they have tried to make the car handling more realistic but with it being a game you don't get the feel that's needed for realism, so basically when you drive a track you are constantly wrestling the cars to stay on which actually takes all the fun out of driving them. Tiny movements of the stick create massive oversteer or understeer far too easily. Tiny touches of the brakes do the same as does moving the steering a little bit too much so the cars fly off the track far too easily. One of the great things about Forza 4 was, you would race a car, earn credits move up a level where you could pick a car of your choice. By using cars you would get affinity to that brand which in turn eventually allowed you free upgrades on that brand of car which was great. In Forza 6 all that has gone. Now when you go up a driver level you get a spin of a wheel which picks your prize for you either money or cars so you often end up with something you don't really want. Your affinity to a brand now earns you money but all your upgrades cost you this money as none are now free So where you used to be able to try out different combinations of upgrade to get the best mix for free now it'll keep costing you. In summary turn 10 have just taken away the most important things that made Forza 4 such a fantastic game and made Forza 6 a fantastic game to look at (if you look at most other reviews everybody bangs on about visual effects and graphics etc) but not really anything special to play. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Forza 6 is what Forza 5 should have been, consistent 60 fps, rain and night racing along with 450 cars, it great but it's not without its flaws, cars are far to heavy and under-steer far to much, damage modelling is decent better then GT but not as good as Project Cars. indie cars are a letdown, far to easy to drive with no real feedback as if it were just thrown into the game last minute. Sun glare is still a bit to strong on certain tracks and the 3D puddles are overused far to often. Tracks look very good and night racing is certainly tense and challenging. The AI are very inconsistent even turned up to a level that suits your driving style they can be to aggressive even though they are aware of your track position. I've often found myself being smashed from behind and then pulverised constantly until the last car has passed me, this is were I believe the AI has no idea how to react other then to stick to the track and ram you if it means following the course. The cars are modelled beautifully in and out and they sound fantastic for the most part, I have come across 1 or 2 vehicles that don't sound dead on to there real life counterparts, maybe there just a little to much distortion drowning out the more growly sound. Some of the smaller cars engine sounds are to exaggerated making them sound like V8 monsters, it's just overdone to me. Micro transactions are a poor chose by turn 10 and really annoyed me, for example I stumble across Paul walkers iconic Orange Supra in the Toyota Dealership from the first Fast and Furious film and I'm dead excited to test it out only to find that I must pay to drive it, turn 10 put the the DLC cars into the game but unfortunately they are locked behind a pay wall witch is completely ridiculous. Over all I found Forza 6 a solid racer with many positives and negatives, it's not for everyone and it's not accessible for everyone either but it's not a bad racer by any means. Expand

Say goodbye to Career mode. The Career mode is what made the Forza series so much fun - buying a crappy car, upgrading it to be more competitive in other classes, and racing it over and over. None of that exists in Forza 6. In the new Career mode, there are little races which require you to buy and drive a different car for every race. They even auto-upgrade your car to be competitive, a nice way of dumbing it down. All the little things in Forza 6 they changed, just ruined it compared to Forza 4 (the last Forza game I really enjoyed).

The list of terrible changes is long:
    - The menu system sucks. Buttons do different actions at different menus and it will forever confuse you.
    - Test drives start right away. Say goodbye to drag racing.
    - Test drives don't show your ghost. Say goodbye to learning the track or racing yourself.
    - Test drives don't save your laptimes. Say goodbye to recording hot laps.
    - You can only bring certain cars to certain race events. Say goodbye to driving a muscle car in aJapanese import race.
    - Career mode sucks, which I already explained above.
    - Rewards are completely random, it's literally a slot machine system, you get credits by getting lucky, not by driving better.

I'm a single-player kind of guy when it comes to racing sims. What I love to do is buy all the cars and thoroughly test them. Put them through the quarter mile, half mile, full mile, record the times. Drive them over and over at my favorite tracks racing my previous ghost and see how the upgrades affect performance. Taking a dinky Trueno and upgrading it to become a beast in Career mode and racing it against other cars. All of those things, I can no longer do in Forza 6. They improved the game mechanics but ripped out the game play in the process.

Yes, the tracks are well laid out and the cars are rendered almost to perfection. There is no doubting that the graphics and game-play physics are outstanding. It is indeed a fun game to play and look at, and with twenty four cars on the track, night racing, and rain, what could possibly go wrong? Sadly a lot, if you bought this game to enjoy a single player racing simulation experience. Where should I begin? Ah yes...

DRIVATARS: A great concept in theory, but flawed in it's execution. It's like Turn 10 decided that "If you don't want to race online, we'll bring online racing to you". Just as with 'Forza 5', you are stuck competing with Drivatars from various skill levels, which sadly means you are competing with people who chose to crate their Drivatar using full on arcade settings. For those of us who choose to race with all handicaps off, it puts at a disadvantage at times. The arcade mode Drivatars cling to the track like slot cars while your fighting through each turn hanging on for dear life. Even when you tune your car's handling, it can often times become impossible to hang with them. The game is in dire need of settings or options that allow you to add or delete certain drivers/Drivatars, as well a force all Drivatars to use the same setting you are using. Sadly I am being forced to race with friend's Drivatars who do not play racing games, but took the time to create Drivatars with full arcade settings. It has turned most of the racing into a smash up derby fest which has completely ruined career mode, and speaking of career mode...

CAREER MODE: 'Forza 6' is supposed to be a racing simulator to a certain extent, so one would expect "Career Mode" to simulate an actual racing career, where one rises through the ranks from the bottom to the top via seasons, qualifying laps, and point standings. Sadly that isn't the case here. Instead we get a pathetic grind that is more of an achievement mode than it is a career mode. It's an awful concept, where you can't advance unless you finish in the top three in each race. This can become a grind if you like to play with a competitive difficulty setting. You can find yourself growing frustrated as you are forced to play the same track over and over again. This leads to the temptation of lowering the difficulty level just so you can advance to the next track. Whoever came up with this concept should be shown the door, as they have ruined career mode which is one of the main reasons most play racing simulators in single player mode. It's supposed to be the heart and soul of games like this, but sadly 'Forza 6' had it's heart ripped right out and replaced with a flawed pile of cow manure.

Mind you, that it is advisable to tune your car, which is a bummer for those who like to race in stock right off the showroom floor cars. Still, if you want to advance, I advise that you tune the handling on your cars before you start throwing more power under the hood. If your car can't handle perfectly through the turns, all the power won't matter and you will not advance in "Career" Mode. of course there is the alternative Free Play...

FREE PLAY: This is the possible savior for those disappointed by the poorly executed "career" mode (or lack there of). They did a few things right here by allowing you to pick the number of laps and the track you wish to play, as well as automatically advancing to other tracks after you finish your race. Sadly there are some serious flaws as well. No practice laps before you race, just in case you want to tweak your tuning and try it out. Then there the lack of Drivatar options. Instead of being able to individually pick the cars of cars you wish to race against, your only option is picking the vehicle class and their drive train options. This creates unrealistically odd situations like heading into turn one at Watkins Glen in your Mercedes side by side with an SUV while passing a car that belongs in the Smithsonian. Want to create a race with only American muscle cars? Nope, sorry buddy, not going to happen here. Turn 10 doesn't think you need the freedom to do as such. It is truly a shame that nobody thought it wise to add such options in order to make Free Play truly free.

With that out of the way, yes, the game is still a lot of fun to play in short bursts, but due to the above stated, there is really nothing to strive for other than collecting cars, tuning them, and pushing them to their limits (or getting in wreck fests online). With no real career mode, a flawed free play mode, and the poorly executed drivatar concept, Turn 10 have taken what was the best console racing game to date two giant steps in the wrong direction. Had I known what I know now, I would not have bought this on release day and instead waited for it to hit the bargain bin. I suggest anyone reading this do the same.

Beautiful game, a truly next gen racing, really more fun that project cars, maybe with dynamic weather would have a 10 but, perhaps Forza 7 will achieve that.

Forza 6 is definitely one of the best Simulation Racing games I have ever played. If you love Racing buy this game. It is the best racing experience to date. The Realism and lighting it unmatched. I think the reviews speak for themself.

With gorgeous sound and visuals, immersive and expansive modes for single players, captivating multiplayer options, a rewarding economy, and a staggering amount of cars and tracks, Forza Motorsport 6 delivers a powerful racing experience. It single-handedly makes the Xbox One console appealing, and is a no-brainer “gotta have it” title for those that have Microsoft’s gaming machine in their homes.

I must say, I'm not one for racing games, but Forza Motorsport 6 easily wins me over with the overall cars to choose from and easiness in picking it up and playing it.

Forza 6 is friendly even towards inexperienced players, rewards good maneuvers and does not punish minor mistakes as strictly as it could have. [11/2015, p.38]
