Explosive Jake is a Top-Down 2d Bomber-Puzzle Game. In short, it's a Bomberman clone. You play as a Skeleton, jake, and you have to complete the 40 Levels of the game by placing bombs down and finding the hidden exit, and the key to open it, all the time avoiding the various enemies. The enemies all seemed to have a patrol path, which made it pretty easy to figure out how to beat them. IfExplosive Jake is a Top-Down 2d Bomber-Puzzle Game. In short, it's a Bomberman clone. The enemies all seemed to have a patrol path, which made it pretty easy to figure out how to beat them. If you Die, all the progress of a level will be reset, causing you to have to do everything over again. Every five or so stages you are granted the ability to place another bomb out at the same time. The level design felt, weak. So weak I recall playing two stages that felt nearly identical, and several that felt just too similar. The controls are loose and sluggish, and I felt like I would get caught on the corners of some of the permanent terrain. This and the odd times the game wouldn't place a bomb got me killed several times. Explosive Jake doesn't bring anything new to the table and falls short on what it does bring. I had fun with my time on this game, so it's not a bad game, but it could have used a bit more refining. The neatest aspect of the game is its toggleable visual filter that makes it look like you're playing on an old tube TV. Could be a good time killer for younger gamers, Explosive Jake isn't one I'd Highly recomend. Expand

It’s clear that Explosive Jake on Xbox One is a game that is stuck in first gear. Rather than building upon its concept, it seems content to stay simple and forgo any sense of development.

Explosive Jake is a very short and simple Bomberman clone. It doesn’t really stand out in any way other than trying to claim a nostalgic feel of the elder console generation. It is quite fun to play through, but the challenge level isn’t too high and as the rooms are static the game can become repetitive. It could still be seen as a quick pick up and complete for the achievement hunters.
