Great game, lost of fun if you are into the whole fishing thing like I am. Great visual graphics and sounds. Just a few things I wouldGreat game, lost of fun if you are into the whole fishing thing like I am. Great visual graphics and sounds. Just a few things I would add/change to make it a more immersive experience. First I would add a wider variety of fish and locations. Also when you pick your Peg to fish from it has several items that that can not be used. I think it would be great to be able to sit down in the chair and the tackle box should let you change your gear to anything you bought, instead of going out to the main screen and having to only pick three hooks, bait, ect. All in all the game it's self is a lot of fun. Full Review »

'Welcome to the great indoors!' ... The air might not be as fresh, but the digital water is unpolluted and the weather is selectable. And you'Welcome to the great indoors!' ... The air might not be as fresh, but the digital water is unpolluted and the weather is selectable. And you won't be sitting all day without a bite! ... Not in this game!!

A little history: As a youngster, I use to go fishing with my dad. So I know a thing or two about real fishing. I've also played a few fishing games, but aside from Fishing Simulator on the PC, none of them captured the true magic of real angling ... Until now, that is ...

Now let me first say that fishing games are far from my favourite type of game. It's just that I've always wanted one for 2 reasons. When I want to play something relaxing between other games and when I want to fish in an online multiplayer match. Something I never got around to doing with said Fishing Simulator.

So here we are today with a spanky new fishing game on the Xbox One ( is that a chorus of angels I hear singing sweetly? ) ... And I can tell you straight off the mark, this game does have that addictive quality that will keep you at the waterside in search of that record breaking fish. Esp if it's one the named fish! ... All whilst gaining experience points to purchase some new tackle to do so.
It's all so strangely life like, sitting there waiting for a bite. I think they actually captured the spirit of it all. The line, in particular, is impressive from a technical point of view. And when it's taught and your rod is bending over some troublesome Tench on a light line, you can almost believe you're actually fishing!

But wait ... there's a Great White in the water ... not everything is perfect ... did I mention the manual casting? ( luckily there's a friendly alternative ) ... it's nigh on impossible to master. It's so bad ( unless I'm just crap at it ) I've had to book a few appointments with a local psychiatrist just to get over the frustration that still haunts me ... it's THAT bad.

Other than that though ... It's a fantastic fishing game. The BEST so far. None of that underwater garbage, where you're viewing the fish swimming about. Oh no ... You're on the bank, where it's dry, like a real fisherman ... And you don't know what you've snagged until you've played it out and reeled it in. This ain't no scuba diver simulator. And I'm looking forward to meeting you all online. Where we can chat about life, games and how lucky the guy/gal who's on top of the leader board is.

So leave your friends and loved ones a BIG sign 'GONE FISHING' cos you're gonna be hooked! :)
