Etherborn is a perspective altering puzzle game. You play as what appears to be an ethereal humanoid, with a nervous system visible within. You play by walking around a level collecting orbs, these orbs get placed on platforms to alter the level so you can progress. This sounds simple, but when I say walk around a level, I mean it. You play by walking around a level collecting orbs, these orbs get placed on platforms to alter the level so you can progress. This sounds simple, but when I say walk around a level, I mean it. When you walk up a ramp, or over a curve in the ground, gravity changes with the orientation of your body, as if you create your own gravity. You start the game at the endless tree, this is how you traverse the various stages. As you wander along the tree you get your first taste of the gravity effect, and the first stage gives you the rest. The stages get progressively complex as you move along the tree, adding new dangers and constantly making you look at the worlds from every angle. The complexity of the stages, is something to admire, as it must have taken great effort to conceptualize these worlds. The music is almost zen to each environment, helping immerse you into the situation. Etherborn was a joy to play, and made me think outside of the normal realm of platforming. I highly recommend this game to puzzle solvers everywhere, it's unique and provides an incredible experience! Expand

An intriguing premise with flawed execution. But what does it all mean? [Issue#181, p.85]

Etherborn is a short and sweet platform-like puzzler game. It features surreal, artistic graphics, beautiful music, "ethereal" controls and is in itself quite unique. The downside is the game can be completed in three to five hours at the cost of $16.99 USD. You'll need to decide if you think it's worth the cost but we hope you do. Otherwise, you will miss out on a challenging puzzle game that is unlike any other game out there.

This is the Etherborn review. A difficult but unique puzzle game. But is it worth it?
