    I will admit that over the years some games have actually scared the stuffing out of me and one of them games that did that to me was Emily Wants to Play. As you can imagine I was nervous of playing the sequel, but at the same time I was excited and thankfully Emily Wants to Play Too is an excellent sequel and in some ways it’s scarier than the first game. If you don’t like games that haveI will admit that over the years some games have actually scared the stuffing out of me and one of them games that did that to me was Emily Wants to Play. As you can imagine I was nervous of playing the sequel, but at the same time I was excited and thankfully Emily Wants to Play Too is an excellent sequel and in some ways it’s scarier than the first game. If you don’t like games that have plenty of jump-scares then this game won’t be for you. Everywhere you turn strikes fear into you and the amount of tension is off the charts and has been cleverly implemented in certain areas. Another thing the game does well is that it doesn’t hold your hand and this without a doubt creates an almost derelict feeling. You’re basically on your own throughout and progressing through the game requires a lot of thought. Whilst I enjoyed this process it did get a little too difficult at times so expect to become frustrated from time to time. That isn’t the game’s biggest problem though because that is reserved for its technichal issues. Unfortunately the game suffers with these technical issues throughout your time with the game and whilst none of these are game-breaking they can harm the immersion levels somewhat. Thankfully they don’t harm the immersion too much though and that’s mainly down to the enemies and the environment you face them in, so any immersion that’s lost is quickly got back. Speaking about the enemies you will notice that there’s a lot more variety this time around and they definitely scared me along the way which is great because that’s what the game is meant to do. I would however have liked a story to accompany these enemies and I think more of a story would’ve made the game even better and in a way it would have given me more of a rewarding feeling once I completed the game. One of my favourite things about the previous game was how they handled the presentation side of things and thankfully it’s also one of my favourite things in this game. Visually the game looks decent and when you combine the visuals with the scary sound design you end up with a game that hooks you from start to finish. At the end of the day some sequels fail miserably but that’s definitely not the case when it comes to Emily Wants to Play Too. They’ve managed to improve quite a few things over the original and despite it suffering with a few problems here and there it still didn’t stop me from wanting to play it. If you like horror games then this game is a must buy and the best thing is that the game is priced extremely well and offers you a lot of bang for your buck.… Expand

    I hate this game.
    But I hate it for all of the right reasons. Emily Wants To Play Too is the direct sequel to Emily Wants to Play, this time however you’re playing as a sandwich guy instead of a pizza boy... the game starts with you getting ready for work… this is where you’re initially introduced to the new cast of characters… Then it’s off to an office    Emily Wants to Play Too
    I hate this game.
    But I hate it for all of the right reasons.
    Emily Wants To Play Too is the direct sequel to Emily Wants to Play, this time however you’re playing as a sandwich guy instead of a pizza boy...
    the game starts with you getting ready for work… this is where you’re initially introduced to the new cast of characters…
    Then it’s off to an office building…
    This game improves a lot on the past game as well as disappoints me a bit..
    The good changes though come in the gameplay…
    in the first game you dealt with 3 dolls with their own set of rules, and the goal of the game was to survive every hour figuring out the characters different rules, and this was on repeat until you could get Emily to come out to play..
    The formula is sortve the same here but it’s much less survival based...
    it feels more like the stealth levels of an outlast game... or like the final few in game hours of the first game...
    meaning you’re forced to explore to progress the game..
    It isn’t about figuring out the cast and running around rooms looking for an exploit to beat them...
    for the first half of this 2 hour game you have to find access cards to unlock new areas of the building, dealing with now a cast of 6 dolls plus Emily…
    and once you’ve unlocked every area which is an anxiety inducing challenge.. That’s when Emily comes out to play...
    you’ll be playing the classics like hide and seek and a new games like freeze tag...
    it’s a nice balance of trying something new for the first half and then for the 2nd half, it’s basically gives you the first game again with different solutions and characters in a new area
    Where this game disappoints me though is the lack of exploration incentive..
    This new map is just not enjoyable to explore or full of mystery like the house in the first game...
    finding the creep drawings and the recordings in the dark, searching for secret areas all while trying to survive and figure out what was going on is what made the first game for me..
    And all of this is stripped down to practically nothing in the sequel...
    everything there is to find will give a little back story for the new characters, and throwbacks to this games past..
    But that’s about it...
    the area ends up feeling like just a video game map instead of a mysterious puzzle...
    the game does sequel bait, and I hope the narrative focus and mystery comes back...
    Emily Wants to Play Too is a solid horror game...
    it made me feel uneasy, the jump scares are intense
    its atmosphere may not blow you away...
    And the story is severely lacking
    but it’s fun in a torture to your heart kind of way
    I give Emily Wants to Play Too

    Gameplay:
    First, the gameplay is more complex than I expected it to be. Having just played Emily Wants to Play again in preparing for the sequel, I was not really expecting as much change. That said, however, that is not a bad thing. The controls are simple, on point and easy to grasp. Although, there will probably be some trial and error. Not to mention hitting the wrong button when you    Gameplay:

That said, however, that is not a bad thing. The controls are simple, on point and easy to grasp. Although, there will probably be some trial and error. Not to mention hitting the wrong button when you enter that panic mode when being chased down in later sections resulting in a death. Navigating through the rooms was pretty easy, in fact helped me escape some pretty dire situations. Opening doors were also a little smoother than the first game.

    As for the enemies, there were a couple of issues that I felt could be ironed out a bit or simply just slightly better explained. Again though, as this game is designed to make you learn on the fly it is also a good thing nothing is over explained. With possessed dolls coming after you from every which way you are bound to lose track of a few of them now and again.

    None of the problems are game breaking and never caused such frustration that I did not want to see it through to the end. Emily and her brood of dolls need to feel defeat with her sadistic game now and again. The scares were well done although I had gotten desensitized to them before the end of the game. The difficulty progression was great always adding more without it reaching to that point of far too much in a single hour jump.

    Graphics:
    If you loved the look of the original (which I did, especially for the game type) then you will love the gorgeous look of the sequel. Nothing is really needed to be changed so far in this department.

    Sound:
    Overall, I thought the sound was well done. Obviously when you play the game as much as I have in the last two days the jump scares start to become a bit much. The other sound effects, running little feet, laughs of the possessed etc. have remained helpful in figuring which way to run and stay alive. For the most part that is.

    Story:
    Without ruining anything, the story simplistic yet wonderfully done. The Xbox store basically sums up what is going on, but the game dives much deeper than what is given. The idea of the dolls was well thought out and I actually was stuck on the first part for quite some time before realizing what I had to do. Once I got further in the game though it really starts to flesh itself out more as you find items throughout the office which add to the story. Making you want another dose, much in the way of another jump scare horror game I am sure you all are familiar with in its own way of course.

    Honestly, I found enjoyment throughout the game from start to finish. Most of the issues I had were either my own doing (not being able to figure out where to go in the beginning of the game for example) or how to beat a particular hour without some trial and error. However, is that not sort of the point? For such a simple horror game, it definitely brings a lot more to the table for the $7.99 price tag. I would definitely recommend this game to any fans of the original game, horror or puzzle games.

    Shawn Hitchcock comes back to scare us. Emily Wants to Play Too offers us a sequel that, without innovating regarding its predecessor, will manage to keep us in tension and let out more than one cry during the adventure. A game to consider for lovers of the horror genre.

    Emily Wants to Play Too is a definite improvement over its predecessor. The game follows the same flow as the first game while introducing new characters and ideas to help the game feel fresh. The new office location is terrifying enough to keep the player on edge, and the size is just big enough to help the game to feel larger than the original.

    Emily Wants to Play Too is bigger and better than its predecessor, but that’s not to say that it comes without issues. Problems with its performance tends to take the bulk of its downside, with the lack of a solid progressive structure and poor shadowing following closely behind. That said, this is still one hell of a scary experience that will certainly please horror fanatics and fans of the first game alike.
