Steering is numb, cars have no weight, it’s obvious they spent zero time trying to make this game feel/handle well and focused on bright colors instead. The only saving grace is Playgrounds, which gets old quick since you can’t play it with your friends.… Expand

    I do appreciate the effort to try to expand the series out a little, to possibly catch another crowd after a few more serious games in the series, but this is not what anyone wanted. The tracks are surrounded by walls AT ALL TIMES, there is no risk involved in the racing, as you can simply bounce from wall to wall with no repercussions, due to the lack of a 'simulation' damage model, where components from the car will break.

    Now, you could say that this is because its an arcade racer, but this is on a whole new level. There was so little effort here that it is just not worth any money, as such, wait for a free weekend or play it on Xbox's Game Pass service.    … Expand

Heading up the third party racing games on the Xbox family of consoles is Dirt 5 which is more arcade appreciating and more fun than its predecessors. This very energy is embodied in the newest race types found inDirt 5 : Though I’ve long appreciated Codemasters Dirt Rally franchise, and I must say that such a simulation style approach to rally racing is’t my personal style of choice. Heading up the third party racing games on the Xbox family of consoles is Dirt 5 which is more arcade appreciating and more fun than its predecessors. This very energy is embodied in the newest race types found in Dirt 5. From the fast and the furious hill climbing races to the mud splattering of the land rush contests, Dirt 5 offers a variety of arcade style racing modes for players to get into, and I am very happy that due to this Dirt has become much more enjoyable for a larger audience as a result. This sense of fun extends to other parts of Dirt 5’s overall experience and the variety of party modes within the game are brilliant. Multiplayer is also very impressive with Dirt 5 supporting up to twelve players, and it also offers up to four players to compete in a local split-screen for those that still may be in the position to share one Xbox console. Dirt 5 also brings a new Playgrounds mode which offers something new to the game as well. Essentially a stunt track creation sandbox mode that previously only existed in the our imaginations of adding in outrageous ramps, loops, and much more for players of the series to experience. Directly tying into Dirt 5’s wider scale of playability is the handling as Codemasters has stepped up the game making each vehicle a blast to use and easier to adapt to and drive overall. There’s quite an immersive feel to Dirt 5’s races as it is truly impressive on the the right television display and with the Xbox Series X which I particularly enjoyed my time with. With multiple views as usual each feels proper with myself always preferring to see my vehicle from behind which feels excellent with the core arcade driven feel of Dirt 5. You can also decide if you prefer resolution or frame rate as your priority, which I myself always prefer a smooth frame rate over graphic resolution anytime in a gaming experience it's just more immersive without stuttering or slowdown. I find Dirt 5 to be a substantial refreshing of the long running series that made it much more playable to more gamers as a result of the many changes instituted. The more hardcore and longer term Dirt fans might not immediately welcome this new feel and overall style, but as someone who is a bit burnt out on the simulation aspects of the many racing series on the Xbox consoles, I’d say that Dirt 5 makes a definitive arcade thunderclap on the Xbox One and Xbox Series S and X. Dirt 5 has taken my exceptions and exceeded them. I’m happy to say that even well after this review I will be truly enjoying all that Dirt 5 offers current generation Xbox owners and those who are fortunate enough to be enjoying the new generation of gaming on their new Xbox Series S and X consoles. Career mode racing average but online racing is satisfying The playgrounds is an awesome idea and has huge potential. Faults include steering wheel, event items are not collected correctly as you complete them. There is little difference in handling model between vehicles of class or even weather and mud. There is a noticeable difference between mud and ice but not difficult you can still drive. There is no reply mode on races. Ultimately the game feels hollow at times but equally I’ve been surprised a few times. I’ve cranked up to very hard mode and it is a challenge. The difference between 1st and last is literally about 4 sec in a race. Codemasters will have the steering wheel support in a month but it may not work on this game. Virtually no one mentions the lack of steering wheel. Onrush worked very well on controller. But we will see if this optimisation come about. Yes it is a fun game. It’s a casual game. It’s not a sim. There is a skill curve which is not immediately obvious Playground great. Driving mechanics basic but ultimately it’s a pick up and go racing game.     Dirt 5 is probably the best Racing Game on Xbox after Forza Horizon 4.The global tracks are really good and the soundtrack also is great. The variety of cars is solid, no car feels exactly the same. The sounds are good but the steering could be a bit better.

    But how ever, i do find the game a little short especially for a 60$ game but its a racing game so what did you expect and also, for a racing game this game has an interesting story and that dialogue you hear from donut media everytime you complete a race is kinda funny and its fun to listen to it and i also i like how the weather changes during the races and these cool locations in the game

    Over all, i like this game, i really do

    Its a fun racing game and if you're a dirt fan and want to buy this game

    Codemasters has created a problem by splitting the Dirt series into two distinct lines. Dirt Rally is more of a hardcore sim, while the mainline Dirt series is getting more and more arcadey.

    The problem here is that most fans liked the older Dirt games because they were a good balance of arcade and sim, hardcore and casual.     The problem here is that most fans liked the older Dirt games because they were a good balance of arcade and sim, hardcore and casual. Now, we have Dirt Rally 2.0 which has a incredible driving model but is almost a sim to the point of no longer being a game, and Dirt 5, which is so casual that it almost feels like Mario Cart.

    Unfortunately, by creating these two extremes to differentiate the games, they are leaving a big empty space in the middle for the fans who liked the combination of a fun game but with great physics.

    I think codemasters is going to have to rethink the strategy here, or some other rally game is going to swoop in and steal the fanbase of the older games.

    Dirt Rally 2.0 was more like Dirt Rally 1.25 and this game is basically Need for Speed: Off Road. I think they need to consolidate both lines back into one really good rally game.    … Expand

    There's a decent variety of events this time around, but they are unfortunately covered by a thick blanket of serious technical issues including hard crashes that can potentially damage your console/PC. Do I also need to mention how awful the hot sprint races are? I'd advise passing on this until we see some major fixes.

    This is the best Dirt in a long time. Play DIRT Rally if you want a sim. However DiRT 5 is just plain fun. I could do without the gimmicky Donut podcast but it doesn't take away from the game. It looks and play great.

    If you’re a fan of Driveclub, Motorstorm, and Sega Rally Revo than this is the game for you. I’m playing on the Xbox One X and it looks amazing even for last gen hardware. The weather effects deserve a special shout out! At its core though Dirt 5 is an old school arcade game that is a ton of fun and has great vibes and soundtrack. 4 player split screen is also a huge bonus.     Not the best game i've played, but honestly well worth the time, fun and relaxing to play. Specialy with a friend just to pass time. Although if it had not been on GamePass i would not had bought it. But glad it was on GamePass, it was well worth the play.

    I really really had high hopes, I used to play other dirts with my dad, we played split screen and there’s no MPH and no engine sounds, I mean what the heck?

Серию Colin McRae Rally Dirt знаю не понаслышке, когда-то вторую и третью часть еще на компе проходил с неописуемым удовольствием. И вот теперь наконец добрались мы с женой до почти что свежачка конца 2020 года — Dirt 5! Ииииииии, это снова восторг!!! Насколько же подросла игра во всех смыслах, уровень реализма происходящего просто поражает воображение. Проходили мы в Dirt 5 карьеру, то бишь местную кампанию, которую при желании, кстати говоря, можно проходить на сплитскрине аж вчетвером. Путь был длинен, может быть стоило сделать его покороче, совсем на чуть-чуть. Но что это были за гонки!!! Покатались мы по трассам США, Греции, Италии, Бразилии, Марокко, Южной Африки, Китая, Непала, Норвегии. Трассы некоторые повторялись, случались и реверсивные их братья, но самое главное, назвать их одинаковыми язык не поворачивается, потому как каждая автобаталия проходила в особенных условиях будь-то снежная метель, или сильный дождь, песчаная буря, резкая смена времени суток в течение одного заезда. Выглядит всё это потрясающе!!! Несешься ты по заснеженной трассе в Норвегии в ночи и тут внезапно северное сияние начинает озарять путь гипнотической игрой света, спустя какое-то время налетает ослепительная метель сдобренная громом и молнией. Класс и неописуемый восторг!!! По сути почти каждая гонка несет в себе сопутствующим антуражем фестиваль ярких стихийных событий, и это я уже молчу о всяких пролетающих над головой самолетах, салютах и всяческой зрелищной иллюминации/подсветке трасс, что особенно круто выглядит в ночное время. Летящая из-под колес грязь, клубящаяся пыль в крутом заносе, пар от раскаленных железных торсов в зимнюю стужу, ослепляющее игривое солнце Италии возводит удовольствие от происходящего до запредельного уровня. Заезды в Dirt 5 также делятся на несколько категорий — это рубка на бездорожье, ледовое скольжение, дрифт-состязания, сингловое преодоление горных участков. Автомобилей и их классов более чем достаточно, есть конечно те, которые Codemasters приберегли для отдельной продажи, ну что уж поделаешь — модно нынче так, дополнительные заработки разработчикам никто не отменял. Мы себя в любом случае не чувствовали ущемленными и нам транспортных средств хватило.… Expand

You can just plow through cars to pass, because it doesn't matter. The music is horrible. Most tracks are just ugly. Pointless goals. Pointless "rewards". Unlockable items are worthless.     Don't waste you time to download. Not even when its free with gamepass.

    One s performance is horrible on quality mode. Performance mode is better for performance, but quality wise its a blurry mess. Check tests on YouTube - Mad Tech Gaming.

    Random lockups after races and xbox shutdown.

    Music is awful as well. Probably ok if you are 9 or younger.

    Unless you have access to some really high quality coke, you wont enjoy this game.

The graphics are xbox one good - feel free to choose graphics over framerate in the options! It may crash on occasion, but you know what, the immersion is worth it.     моя улюблена частина була 2-га, третю я грав недовго тому що це був стид, 4ту я також пробував але мене відштовхнула непотрібна симулятивність гри (яка мала б бути тільки в dirt rally), отже попробувавши 5ту частину я був здивований - так, аркадне управління, не дуже складні противники та дуууже яскраві фарби (особливо кидається в очі коли граєш в    дуже аркадна частина легендарної серії.
    моя улюблена частина була 2-га, третю я грав недовго тому що це був стид, 4ту я також пробував але мене відштовхнула непотрібна симулятивність гри (яка мала б бути тільки в dirt rally), отже попробувавши 5ту частину я був здивований - так, аркадне управління, не дуже складні противники та дуууже яскраві фарби (особливо кидається в очі коли граєш в темну пору дня), але все ж якщо хочеш розслабитися - це дуже хороша гра. на голову краща за останні nfs та на ту ж голову гірша за forza horizon (будь-яку частину). порадували нові режими як то pathfinder або гонки на льодяному озері, але розчарував малий різновид трас та практично відсутність кастомізації авто (хоча для когось це буде плюсом).

    Décevant ! Je sais qu'il ya un monde entre la série dirt rally qui est plus simulation et dirt qui est plus dans l'arcade mais la cest une fumisterie. Les sensations au volant sont aussi réaliste qu'un asphalt sur mobile le choix des véhicule est insultant sa chant qu'on nous prive de voiture mythique comme une Audi quatro ou une Suzuki escudo et pour en rajouter certaine des voituresDécevant !     Je ne recommande pas et j'espère un retour au réalisme et à moins de micro transaction pour le prochaine opus de la par des développeurs.

    The details, as well as the driving physics, are absolutely up-to-date and great - nevertheless, in terms of gameplay, this game suffers from the fact that it wants to be a strong arcade racer with the legacy of simulation. The events seem rather lovelessly strung together, the podcast as accompaniment is simply annoying and I can't stand so many colors beyond 'Trailblazers', where it belongs.
    Nice as a casual racing game, it's definitely a good one to pick up on sale. However, I don't feel anything of the fever that DiRT 3 & Showdown triggered in me.    … Expand

    All in all, it's playable and enjoyable; however, the game will need some more content and definitely more bug fixes in future updates. In other words, it's not entirely polished. Although it may not be polished, it's highly recommended for arcade racers, no doubt about that. If you've been on Forza Motorsport or Project CARS 3 before, then this might be something for you. Great track layout and astonishing graphics makes the game special. Dirt veterans may also recognise the similarities between this and the older games.

    DIRT 5 is superb and will quench the thirst of anybody who believes racing games have become too sim-heavy and boring. Some will lament the lack of true rallying and the ostentatious Americanised presentation but why complain when you can fully embrace the arcade richness on display here. Simply put, DIRT 5 is excellent and will leave you craving for more – now go out and there and drink it up.

    Overall, DIRT 5 fixes everything that was iffy about the prior entry and does so in a way that breathes new life into the long-running series. DIRT 5 has smoother controls and more versatile framerate options than prior entries have had – at least on consoles – and the addition of non-position objectives helps makes races more replayable and a bit more fun since you may have to step outside of your comfort zone, or more accurately, increase your comfort zone over time, to fully embrace it. DIRT 5 clicks with the player faster than any prior entry and is an absolute must-play for anyone who has loved the series before, or who hasn’t and wants to start fresh. There’s no better rally racer on the market than DIRT 5.
